I have a series of Hiddens Templates on my userpage but unfortunately, they cover my userboxes. How do I stop them from doing this and make them just fill the white space?--Pianoplonkers(talk) 21:17, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I used {{clear}} to fix it, but it shoved everything way underneath your userboxes. You might look into templates that make your list of userboxes collapsible, like the one on my userpage. Killiondude (talk) 22:39, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Files on Wiki Commons edit

{{adminhelp}}

I have uploaded several files but I would like them to be transferred onto Wikipedia Commons. Would this be possible. Here is a list of the files that need transferring:

  1. Steinway Hall - London  Done
  2. Haydn and Mozart
  3. Rondo Alla Turca
  4. The Four Stones
  5. Monti Csárdás
  6. Bach BVW 1041 Allegro Assai
  7. Sonata No.6 in E flat major (JCF Bach)

Thanks--Pianoplonkers(talk) 20:44, 3 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

You can do it yourself by reading the directions on WP:Move to the Commons or you can flag them as meeting the requirements for moving, by adding {{MovetoCommons}}. Killiondude (talk) 20:50, 3 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Files edit

{{helpme}}

  1. I have moved all of my files to Wikicommons but what do I do with the Wikipedia uploads?
  2. Also, the file of File:Rondo Alla Turca.png on Wikicommons has been distorted but I uploaded an undistorted file. I there a way of undoing this?
Tag all the Wikipedia files with {{NowCommons}} and an admin will come along, check that it is done right, and delete them. I reverted the Commons file you linked, so the first version is showing now. Killiondude (talk) 09:37, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Opus 62 No.1 (Mendelssohn) edit

{{helpme}}

Is the title to Opus 62 No.1 (Mendelssohn) correct--Pianoplonkers(talk) 20:14, 7 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

If there are Opus 62 No.1's by other composers, then yes. Since there is at least one by Chopin as well, then the (Mendelssohn) is required. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 20:48, 7 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hi. This is now being discussed here. --Kleinzach 06:53, 8 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Eric muhlbauer edit

Hi. I saw that you changed your mind about the speedy tag for this, but there was an even better one: as the article said that someone (not the main subject) "happens to be a fag", what it needed was {{db-g10}} or {{db-atk}} "Pages that disparage or threaten their subject or some other entity". That puts it in a high-priority cue for admin attention, and generates a suitably fierce warning for the author's talk page. There is good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 16:54, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the advice. I will use this next time I find a page like this.--Pianoplonkers(talk) 16:57, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Table of Contents on my Userpage edit

{{helpme}}

Is is possible to stop the contents table on a page appearing at all on a page--Pianoplonkers(talk) 17:44, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

 Done. Use the magic word __NOTOC__. Tim Song (talk) 17:51, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Try that, but I'm not sure it works on a user page. You can arrange that you don't see tables of contents by unchecking "Show table of contents" on My preferences/Appearance/Advanced options. More details at WP:TOC. JohnCD (talk) 17:56, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your rollback request edit

Hello Pianoplonkers, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert anything else (by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with) can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 16:57, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I declined your speedy deletion request. The article makes reasonable claims of notability. LadyofShalott 17:19, 14 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Userpage edit

{{helpme}}

On my Userpage there is a rollback template and a qui template at the top on my userpage but there are on top of each other. How do I put these next to each other and not overlaping? Thanks--Pianoplonkers(talk) 19:23, 15 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

You can use the offset parameters on either {{rollback}} or {{statustop}}. To move {{rollback}} to the left, use the extra_offset parameter with the number of pixels to move left, like {{rollback|extra_offset=120}}. To move {{statustop}} to the left, use the offset parameter with the number of pixels to move left, like {{statustop|offset=50}}. You can also move {{statustop}} down with the offsettop parameter and the number of pixels to move down, like {{statustop|offsettop=50}}. Depending on how you want them placed, you use or more of these parameters. Please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 19:51, 15 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mazurkas Op. 17 edit

Why have you written Op. 33 titles in the article, and created Op. 33 redirects to the Op. 17 page?

Please sort out this mess.

Etincelles ♬♬(talk) 22:56, 15 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

That looks much better now. However, you mentioned that Horowitz played the whole set, he is only known to have played No. 4. - Etincelles ♬♬(talk) 08:21, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Attack pages edit

Hi. Thanks for tagging Robert pinchin just now, but better than {{db|attack page}} is {{db-attack}} (or the equivalent {{db-atk}} or {{db-g10}}), which has the advantage of putting the page in a high-priority queue for admin attention. Regards, JohnCD (talk)

Steinway Model D-274 edit

{{helpme}}

Is there any way of advertising a page for improvement on wikipedia? (see title). Thanks--Pianoplonkers(talk) 19:58, 9 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, what exactly do you want to do? Requesting help in writing this page? Regards SoWhy 20:30, 9 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
You can request that the article be peer reviewed here or ask for help at the appropriate Wikiproject here, or you could ask any user you spot expressing interesting in the topic on a similar page by sending a message on their talk page. You could also ask the league of copy editors. I would suggest the Wikiproject as the best bet, as a peer review might not review an article before it has been moved to the main space from a user subpage. Categories: Music competitions prize-winners edit

Several categories related to music competition winners are being targetted by a user, and I think it would be useful that you give your opinion regarding the neccesity of these categories and maybe later help proposing changes to the present guidelines (music awards and prizes). The categories proposed for deletion are #Category:Prize-winners of the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition, #category:Prize-winners of the Paloma O'Shea Piano Competition, #Category:Operalia, #Category:Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition and #Category:Prize-winners of the Besançon Conducting Competition. Cheers.--Karljoos (talk) 15:04, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello Pianoplonkers. The box alignment looks fine to me (on Firefox 3), so it might be a browser-specific issue? --KFP (talk | contribs) 17:03, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I could see the problem in IE (not in FF). It was caused by the code colspan="2" you had in that cell that I removed. It's still little wider, but I don't know what causes that. Svick (talk) 17:17, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Warning on User talk:66.204.41.2 edit

Hi. You recently issued an "only warning" to User:66.204.41.2 for this edit on the Template:X2 page. This page is actually a sandbox, so the edit wasn't vandalism. If you don't mind, I'm going to remove the final warning, and then add a level 2 warning for a different unhelpful edit made by this user. Thanks! -- Lear's Fool (talk | contribs) 01:26, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

That's fine, thanks for picking it up--Pianoplonkers(talk) 07:03, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please look more closely edit

Hello.  :) You recently left a warning template on my talk page. This is the version of the article that you reverted back to. Please look a little more closely. I was reverting vandalism, not causing it. Compare the version you reverted to with my edit. I won't edit the article until you've had a chance to check it for yourself because I don't want to appear to be vandalizing in the face of a warning, but I'm sure that once you compare the two versions you'll revert it yourself. Take care, and happy editing! 152.16.16.75 (talk) 10:13, 24 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. I just wanted to let you know I took care of it. I saw that you had edited since I left the note above and hadn't had a chance to get to it so I reverted with an explanation in my edit summary. It has been fixed. Happy editing! 152.16.16.75 (talk) 02:28, 25 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Steinway Model D-274 edit

Dicussion copied from Archive of WikiProject's Talk Page (Archive 24)

Back in June, I created an article called Steinway Model D-274. However, after discussion, it was decided that the content should be removed and the page be turned into a redirect. I feel that this page, with work, could be considered to be an appropriate article for Wikipedia. Currently, I have a copy of the page in my userspace (User:Pianoplonkers/Steinway Model D-274) and I am trying to improve it. I am writing to ask if anyone would like to help me achieve this and make it a good article. Please contact me on my talk page to inform me that I have found someone that wants to help me. Thanks--Pianoplonkers(talk) 07:46, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Overall, I would say that it is a fine article. Some additional sources could be used, but that isn't the biggest probem here. I think the assemblage of the "facts & figures" and "encasement" sections are not up to wikipedia's standards, due to their format. The title of the former section is especially not to wikipedia's standards; while it is not trivia (considering how it holds information about the measurements and other useful stuff), it does have the title of a section of miscellaneous information; those sections are definitely discouraged on wikipedia. If I came across this article in its current shape as an article and not just a user subpage, I would support its existence on wikipedia, but improvements would be recommended. Thanks.
