Do not add to catagories without supporting references edit

You added Christina Aguilera to the whistle register catagory, without providing a reference to support this. We are currently attemting to locate references for all such artists stating that they are use the whistle register, and attempting to reach consensus on if the whilste register can be defined by pitch reached alone. Please add a reference to support the whistle register addition before re-adding. For biographies of living people it is especially important that we verify. The youtube references cannot be used - this whole topic has became such a mess that there are some people still listed with unreliable references. In most cases these have been removed, but a few have been missed. There are some people in the list with proper references, if I recall correctly. What we need to find are references stating that someone used the whistle register - pure examples of their use do not count (as this is original research, labeling something yourself). We also need some form of agreement on the definition of whistle register - some people are arguing using notes reached alone, yet the whistle register description implies that being able to hit a note does not mean the whistle register has been used. Sorry if I have sounded a little harsh, but I see people repeatedly not reading the history of changes and simply re-adding whistle register without any reference. Have a welcome... Welcome edit

Hello, Phoenix V, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Jennifer Lopez edit

Thanks for letting me know. If you could leave all sources on my talk page under the heading you created, I will look into getting the details confirmed, verified and properly listed. If there are sources to the contrary to other sources, I would appreciate these too, as we can use both sets, stating a disagreement exists. LinaMishima 21:39, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Additional: I've had a look, and currently your changes appear to be the ones in place. Congratulations on some well sourced references, if you found them, or on standing up for WP:VERIFY if you didn't! Please remember to be civil when warning other editors, and to warn them on their talk page as well as on the edit summary. This way they can't complain they didn't know, and they can't complain they are being persecuted (yes, it happens...). As it happens, I'm not a admin, so I cannot block anyone myself. If the changes continue to be made without any references being provided, we'll look into getting semi-protection on the page, preventing IP users from editing. This tends to discourage most vandals. Final Warning for Vandalism. edit

Hello, Phoenix V.

When one of our editors (in this case, you) listens to a piece of music with an analytical ear, and determines what the key of the music is or even the note being played/sung, one is originally analysing a piece. Original research can take a number of forms, depending on the discipline it pertains to ...it typically ... involves direct ... observation of the researched subject, e.g. ...in the field. Original analysis is original research.

The problem is, Wikipedia is not the place for original research, this is an official rule. Citing sources and avoiding original research are inextricably linked: the only way to demonstrate that you are not doing original research is to cite reliable sources which provide information that is directly related to the topic of the article, and to adhere to what those sources say. The source must be from a reliable journal, publication or website. Please note, Blogs do not count to this end. Wikipedia:No original research is one of 3 wiki-laws, as it were. The other two are Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

You have broken one or more of these laws. If you choose to break it again, it will be very serious vandalism on your part, an act for which I will seek to have you banned, as you have been warned.

Sincerely,

--I'll bring the food 18:34, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Should you wish to know what you are being severely warned for, they are here: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], & [7]

This is the only warning you will receive. Your recent vandalism will not be tolerated. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

How dare you accuse me of vandalism when you were the one who utterly destroyed the whistle register singers page? Who the hell do you think you are? Meshionu! Amu jie ji! Nnukwu esu! Ike akpi! You do realise a personal attack will probably be construed as a total breach of your final warning, right? You're also aware you were previously banned for personal attacks and that this new account of yours is a sockpuppet, right?--I'll bring the food 21:34, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Page protection edit

Hi. I've removed the {{sprotected}} template from the Jennifer Lopez discography article because adding the template does not add protection. If you want the page protected please contact an administrator or list the page at WP:RPP. Please don't put the template back unless the page is protected. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:40, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Warning edit

You are treading on thin ice. Please take notice of the warnings above regarding WP:NOR. This is non-negotiable and you have no excuse for not knowing it, after the debate on the Whistle register category, with which you are familiar. Do not harass anyone with stupid text on their talk page or in any other way. Technically you are in breach of using an abusive sockpuppet and this account could be blocked indefinitely. You have another account User:Prof. MagneStormix which you have admitted, although you then tried to remove the evidence.[8] I am giving you the benefit of the doubt on this occasion, as you seem to be attempting genuine edits and have not overlapped the accounts. I suggest you publicly clarify this by placing a message on User:Prof. MagneStormix to the effect that you are now using this account and not that one, and on the user page for this account to state that that is also your account, as it is still live. Alternatively you may ask for one or both accounts to be deleted. Let me know. Tyrenius 22:35, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
