Request reason:

I acknowledge that I have made a mistake four years ago, for which I have been correctly blocked then; I ask that Wikipedia moderators consider unblocking this account now. Here's what happened: four years ago, I used to have chess lessons with a chess FIDE Master. This master had a Wikipedia entry, which some people were discussing whether to delete or not; he asked me if I could create a Wikipedia account and go to this Wikipedia page to add to the discussion. Now, I never had a Wikipedia account and was not aware of the rules, so I created the account and stated that I thought his page should be kept. This was a clear case of meatpuppetry, and I fully agree with the moderator that blocked me four years ago. Four years have passed, I have grown, I have read about the Wikipedia rules and understood where I have gone wrong. I am currently a Mathematics PhD student, and feel that I have something to contribute to Wikipedia, especially in my research topic (Combinatorics). Therefore, I kindly ask that Wikipedia moderators consider the unblocking of this account, and I guarantee you that I will only use this account to edit/discuss pages where I actually have something to contribute. Decline reason:

I appreciate your polite and well-written response, but the explanation doesn't quite seem to jive with the facts as-given. You've stated you created an account, and that you were blocked for meatpuppetry as it was at someone else's behest. But [[1]] seems to indicate a heck of a lot more than "an account" involved or solely meatpuppetry. Could you elaborate in a subsequent request, please? - Vianello (Talk) 02:35, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

As requested, I'll ellaborate on the facts: I do not know who the user Wangshujuan is nor did I have any sort of contact, online or offline, with this person. I also do not know whether Wangshujuan has created multiple accounts or not. What I can tell you is that this account (Phmilet) is my own, it is my only account, and it is not linked in any way with the other accounts that are involved in that investigation. I created this account because, like I said, my chess teacher at the time asked me (behest seems like too strong a word) to "vote" in favor of keeping the page (I now know that Wikipedia discussions are not resolved via a voting process, rather by means of argumentation). Like I said, I am not sure about the other accounts involved, but I suspect that some of these accounts may have been created by people that, like me, did not understand the Wikipedia rules, at the request of another person - some might have been chess students of my former chess teacher, others might be personal friends of his or even personal friends of the user Wangshujuan, whoever he is; but, I honestly do not know who created the other accounts. At any rate, to sum up: I created this account at the request of someone else in order to participate in a specific discussion, and have been correctly blocked four years ago. But this is my only account, not linked in any way with the other ones in the investigation, and I would like to use it in order to edit Mathematics pages in Wikipedia, in topics where I actually have something to add.

Since the blocking admin seems to be away at the moment I've gone ahead and unblocked you, Phmilet. Happy editing.Olaf Davis (talk) 00:40, 28 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

On hold comment: This seems a perfectly reasonable explanation to me - the account only ever made one edit, and since no checkuser evidence of sockpuppetry is mentioned I believe that it was meatpuppetry, which the user now understands is wrong. Olaf Davis (talk) 00:15, 23 May 2014 (UTC)}}Reply
