Template:Marriage - reason vs. end param?

Hello! Regarding this edit, I read Template:Marriage instructions as use "either |reason= or |end=" are appropriate params for the reason for the marriage end. Your edit suggests one is preferred over the other, but the documentation states either is appropriate. Is there something else you are going off of in your edit summary here? --Engineerchange (talk) 17:55, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. Now that you say it, I think I may have a bias toward using "end" over
reason" but I think it's just that I see it more often in my edits. I suppose I could have set my find/replace (which looked for either end=text or reason=text and replaced it with end=new_text) to leave the previous parameter in tact.
I guess in my interpretations of the docs, I read the end parameter as the primary parameter name and that "reason" is just another way of saying it. But thinking about it more, I'm not sure why there are 2 different ways to say the same thing in such a "short and sweet" template.
Sorry for causing concern around usage with the edit! Hope you'll pardon me on it :)
Best,
Pedantical (talk) 18:02, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
No worries, I just follow the docs. "end" is definitely more succinct, so I get it. I have typed "reason" so many times at this point, I didn't want you to go down a rabbit hole lol. Cheers, --Engineerchange (talk) 19:11, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
