Hello, Paper9oll,
Wow, this is a very confusing User talk page. But I found a way to make a comment here the way I'm used to doing, without being forced into a new section box.
Please check the talk page archives for this article. I don't think you moved them to the correct page title. There are two of them. You can find them on the Move log. And if you could simplify your own talk page without a big box on it, maybe not deleting or archiving messages so quickly, it would help with the disorientation. I think archiving messages after only 24 hours doesn't allow for discussions that might last for days or be interrupted and then continue. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:21, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Make Mate One Draft
Hi I have the Draft:Make Mate One back in November, is there a way that you can help me with the article. HongLock (talk) 22:18, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi HongLock, in case you're unaware, your draft has been incorrectly procedurally WP:CUTPASTE by another user to Make Mate 1. I'm not into reality competitive show so I can't help you with the improvements. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 06:32, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
MM1
Hi! @Paper9oll, so to make sure you don't misunderstand, the reason why I don't move the draft MM1 to the mainspace is because I'm the only author of the draft who created the whole text, so I don't want to affect the live. Have a nice day! Aidillia (talk) 02:31, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

Removal of recent edits
hi we added an award for Lee Dong Wook yesterday but it was removed. Wanted to understand why Pingyyego is "non-notable" as it is a very popular Korean talkshow. On behalf of his SEA fanclub we are requesting for the entry to be reinstated. For your consideration please Miangeldw (talk) 00:39, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- As stated clearly, the awards ceremony is non-notable with no significant coverage from secondary reliable sources that is independent of the subject in which verifiability does not guarantee inclusion. Notability is not inherited just because the YouTube show Pingyyego is a notable entity. In addition, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 01:07, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- does https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/web-series/news/korean/lee-dong-wook-takes-home-top-honors-at-pinggyego-awards-despite-no-acting-daesang-nomination/articleshow/106061313.cms count as secondary reliable source?
- By the way there is no wiki page for pinggyego (excuse go) - would you be able to create one? It's really hard to edit using only a hp. Miangeldw (talk) 03:29, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024
Hello Paper9oll,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Pages Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.

Marie Claire Korea
I wanted to know what your criteria for reliable sources is? Because as far as I know, Marie Claire is one of the biggest women's magazines today and is, as far as I know, one of the most reliable sources to use on Wikipedia. What is this story that you accused my sister of disruptive editing? I'm working in another city and my sister calls me saying that you reversed her edit in the article about Yerin (former member of GFriend) and even accused her of disruptive editing. Was what you did to her a threat? Because if it is, I will report you to the Wikipedia Adms, because it seems that in articles about Korean entertainment, it seems that only you can edit, only you can edit correctly...MafiaBoy123 (talk) 18:16, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- @MafiaBoy123 Kindly go read Template:Infobox person/doc if you haven't done so, in case it wasn't clear enough, as per documentation, only include up to City. In addition, you or your sister (whichever you decided to be) have been reverted not just by me on single occassion but also by other editors on multiple occasion (for example [4]) that also echoed to include up to City only and also quoted the same linked documentation. WP:IDHT is considered as WP:DISRUPTSIGNS when already mentioned that "Up to City only" via this diff in the same article. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 18:36, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
About Jessica Jung
Hi, thank you for the warning. I'm not trying to vandalize Jessica's page. I'm a fan of Jessica Jung, and she has stated clearly she only has one citizenship - American. As it was cited in the 'Personal Life' section. She said in her concert in Taiwan, she didn't have a Korean name legally. The name on her passport is "Jessica Jung", no middle name. And as it's cited in the 'nationality' note to the page 'South Korean nationality law', South Korea does not allow people with dual nationality (South Korean and a foreign one) exercise the foreign one in South Korea. South Korea starting allowing dual nationality in 2011 via parents. And in 2011, Krystal Jung was 17, she was eligible for South Korean citizenship; in 2011, Jessica was 22, she had become an adult, and she couldn't obtain South Korean citizenship.
And 'Beep Beep' is Jessica Jung's fourth EP was released on November 22, 2023. And everything I've written is published online, as you can see on YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. Why did you call it "unsourced", it's just like her 3 previous albums. And I use the same template as those pages, I don't know how to add the source yet, it would be lovely if you can show me how to add citation.
Thank you. Have a good day. Minam.nn (talk) 15:51, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Minam.nn For Jessica Jung, as stated clearly in the hidden note, changing it would be considered as WP:DISRUPTIVE EDITING in which you totally ignored the hidden note and proceeded ahead, the hidden note is there for this very same reasons that was already discussed previously. For South Korean nationality law, the law allowing "
individuals automatically receive South Korean nationality at birth if at least one parent is a South Korean national, whether they are born within the Republic of Korea or overseas
" was enacted in 1948 and was amended couple of times since then with the latest in 2018, neither of amendments made so far as any effect as far as the subject is concerned. For Beep Beep, read WP:BURDEN, WP:VERIFY, WP:VNOT, and WP:TRUE, and NO, none of her previous extended plays here is fully unsourced. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 16:05, 4 April 2024 (UTC)- Yes, sir. I'm highly aware about "individuals automatically receive South Korean nationality at birth if at least one parent is a South Korean national, whether they are born within the Republic of Korea or overseas".
- But on September 2, 2014, Girls' Generation had an event in Vietnam, except SooYoung who was busy filming, Jessica Jung and Tiffany Young couldn't go to Vietnam because they are American citizens, which are required to apply for visa to enter Vietnam, whereas South Korean citizens don't need that.
- Sunny (Lee SoonKyu) was also born in the US, but she's an South Korean citizen, so she could go to Vietnam at that time.
- So, like Tiffany Young, Jessica Jung doesn't have South Korean citizenship, they were not given a Korean birth certificate when they were born.
- And with the source cited in 'Personal life' section, Jessica said it herself, "There is something people don't know. My original name is Jessica. So my legal name is also 'Jessica' and I don't have my Korean name anywhere. I just made it. So, my passport also just says Jessica Jung."
- With all due respect, if I'm not good enough with editing and cite source, please consider this information and edit her name and her nationality.
- Thank you. Have a good one.
- ~~~~ Minam.nn (talk) 18:41, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Minam.nn What you are doing is considered as WP:OR btw. In addition, Allkpop is considered as unreliable source as per WP:KO/RS#UR. Lastly, it seemed like you have this misconception that passport name and/or current legal name is equals to birth name which is incorrect thinking. The information at Jessica Jung doesn't requires any changing as far as I'm aware of, there is any factual errors. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 18:59, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- It's not about allkpop, it's about
- - Jessica Jung said it herself her full name is "Jessica Jung".
- - She doesn't have a South Korean citizenship, as the fact that she couldn't go to Vietnam on September 2, 2014 because she didn't have a visa. If you say "individuals automatically receive South Korean nationality at birth if at least one parent is a South Korean national, whether they are born within the Republic of Korea or overseas", Tiffany Young's page should edited too.
- I just wanna contribute information about Jessica Jung and her EP 'Beep Beep', I'm not an expert in Wikipedia, I don't know well about the "source", you're the doctor! Minam.nn (talk) 19:34, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Minam.nn Regarding the points you raised, I'd like to clarify a few things. Firstly, it's important to distinguish between legal/passport names and birth names. Legal names can be changed through proper documentation if eligible. Secondly, this "
Jessica Jung and Tiffany Young couldn't go to Vietnam because they are American citizens, which are required to apply for visa to enter Vietnam, whereas South Korean citizens don't need that
" and this "She doesn't have a South Korean citizenship, as the fact that she couldn't go to Vietnam on September 2, 2014 because she didn't have a visa
" is considered as original research in which original research is prohibited on Wikipedia unless you have secondary reliable sources to support this statement, not knowing how to find a reliable source isn't a valid reason for you to bomb whatever you are thinking just because you saw such assumptions (Wikipedia categories such as gossip) online, such actions (i.e. original research bombing) is unconstructive to the discussion. As far as I'm aware of, there isn't any official statement released on their absent. Thirdly, for this "Jessica Jung and Tiffany Young couldn't go to Vietnam because they are American citizens, which are required to apply for visa to enter Vietnam, whereas South Korean citizens don't need that
" original research, this is again another misconception you have, it's possible for someone to be a citizen of both countries to only possess one country's passport, citizenship are semi-autoissued but passport requires full (not an automated process) application submission. For example, a person born in the United States (jus soli; right of soil) to South Korean parents (jus sanguinis; right of blood) may be a citizen of both countries but may only have a U.S. passport. Just like the fact that a person don't renew your citizenship but is required to renew their passport every few years, if their passport expired and they don't renew it, this doesn't means that they lost your citizenship. In addition, if they don't have a passport at all in their entire lifetime such as due to financial barriers, this also doesn't means they are not a citizenship of their country. Lastly, I will work on Beep Beep when I have the spare time since you don't know how to find a reliable source even though another editor has posted on your talkpage a Welcome guide which contains links on how to get started including how to find a reliable source and/or adding it as a citation, I also see that you blanked your entire talk page hence I believe that you have no interest on such. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 01:59, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Web browsers can use tools called extensions. There is now a Chrome extension called Citation Needed which you can use to see if an online statement is supported by a Wikipedia article. This is a small experiment to see if Wikipedia can be used this way. Because it is a small experiment, it can only be used in Chrome in English.
- A new Edit Recovery feature has been added to all wikis, available as a user preference. Once you enable it, your in-progress edits will be stored in your web browser, and if you accidentally close an editing window or your browser or computer crashes, you will be prompted to recover the unpublished text. Please leave any feedback on the project talk page. This was the #8 wish in the 2023 Community Wishlist Survey.
- Initial results of Edit check experiments have been published. Edit Check is now deployed as a default feature at the wikis that tested it. Let us know if you want your wiki to be part of the next deployment of Edit check. [5][6]
- Readers using the Minerva skin on mobile will notice there has been an improvement in the line height across all typography settings. [7]

- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 9 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 10 April. It will be on all wikis from 11 April (calendar). [8][9]
- New accounts and logged-out users will get the visual editor as their default editor on mobile. This deployment is made at all wikis except for the English Wikipedia. [10]

Choi Hye-seon Avatar
hello! you had raised a permission issue on my talk page with a file, i responded but haven't heard back from you so i'm trying here, i hope that's okay! you had asked for a rationale, i found that the rationale that i originally uploaded it with is saved with the file, so i'm reproducing it here:
Purpose of use in article - Depicts the subject of the article, using the same picture she herself uses on her YouTube channel. It confirms immediately to readers that this Choi Hye-seon is that specific Choi Hye-seon, as well as the Choi Hye-seon described in the references, where she is frequently photographed. Not replaceable with free media because - There is by definition no alternative to the illustration that she herself picked, since no one else can make her pick. Minimal use - The file will be used in exactly one article, and it is one of exactly one picture in the entire article. There cannot possibly be less minimal uses of a relevant file than one and one respectively. Respect for commercial opportunities - The image is already freely available on her YouTube page, whose only commercial purpose is in videos and author-fan communication, neither of which are possible on Wikipedia.
you had also suggested i tag it as non-free fair use, the file itself is currently listed as having "non-free use rationale" so i'm not sure how else to tag it. if the article itself must be tagged, i'm also not sure how or where to place that tag
please let me know if this satisfactory! thanks Kinerd518 (talk) 17:37, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Kinerd518 You added those rationale yourself obviously (this is what you think; the template doesn't defaults to such values) hence I tagged it accordingly as I don't find any evidence on the author's YouTube page that they has agreed to release the file under the given license. I also don't see how, it is considered as non-free as you self-proclaimed. Anyway instead of talking to me, please follow the template instruction by sending the relevant proof of permissions given explicitly by the author to the listed email address. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 17:45, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- oh i'm sorry! to be clear, i was going off your comment "If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as non-free fair use or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included." so i thought it was clear from the start that this was the rationale i added, i felt like i was responding to a specific request to do so. are you saying that ONLY author approval matters for non-free fair use? thanks! Kinerd518 (talk) 18:41, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Kinerd518 I think you are confused, the message/notification posted on your talk page is from a template generated by Twinkle which you shouldn't even be replying on your talk page or here as it isn't the correct response to do so. As stated above, you are to submit the relevant proof of permissions given explicitly by the author to the listed email address at permissions-en@wikimedia.org, this is the correct response to do so instead. This instructions is also stated clearly in the templated message posted to your talk page which I doubt you even read it or read it correctly in full extend hence this isn't some nonsensical instructions that I crafted myself. Anyway, whether or not, you want to follow the instructions given i.e. sending proof of permissions, is up to you to decide on, you have 4 days remaining to do so. As I have given the help required by responsing to your queries and also directing you to the correct venue, this would be my last reply pertaining to this topic. Happy editing and goodnight! — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 18:59, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

Looks like our persistent friend is back
See: Draft:Laxmi Narayana Maharana - I reopened the SPI Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tinkubhoi. They also tried to hijack Pravakar Maharana [34]. Thought you should know. I'll keep my eyes open. Netherzone (talk) 11:30, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Netherzone, thanks you for notifying. It has been a while but they are sure persistent, will keep a lookout. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 11:39, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
Tech News: 2024-19
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- The appearance of talk pages changed for all wikis, except for Commons, Wikidata and most Wikipedias (a few have already received this design change). You can read the detail of the changes on Diff. It is possible to opt-out these changes in user preferences ("Show discussion activity"). The deployment will happen at remaining wikis in the coming weeks. [35][36]
- Interface admins now have greater control over the styling of article components on mobile with the introduction of the
SiteAdminHelper
. More information on how styles can be disabled can be found at the extension's page. [37] - Wikimedia Enterprise has added article body sections in JSON format and a curated short description field to the existing parsed Infobox. This expansion to the API is also available via Wikimedia Cloud Services. [38]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 May. It will be on all wikis from 9 May (calendar). [39][40]
- When you look at the Special:Log page, the first view is labelled "All public logs", but it only shows some logs. This label will now say "Main public logs". [41]
Future changes
- A new service will be built to replace Extension:Graph. Details can be found in the latest update regarding this extension.
- Starting May 21, English Wikipedia and German Wikipedia will get the possibility to activate "Add a link". This is part of the progressive deployment of this tool to all Wikipedias. These communities can activate and configure the feature locally. [42]

Question
Hello. This is to follow up on what I did yesterday on the article, "BTS World".
What would count as a reliable source to prove the game shut down? There was an announcement from Netmarble that stated when the game would shut down and be pulled from app stores and all that, but that was shown on its official forum, and that shut down for what's about to be two months from now. I do have a statement from the game's official Twitter page, although the link the tweet provides leads to an error page since, again, it could be viewed on the forum and it's shut down. What do you think I should do about it? JinsengOG (talk) 17:54, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi JinsengOG, please provide secondary reliable source that is independent of the subject i.e. often in the form of news sources. Do take note of WP:RSPSS and WP:KO/RS#UR. However, if secondary independent reliable source(s) are not available, you can also provide primary reliable source i.e. often in the form of press releases on the company's official website itself. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 18:28, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
Tech News: 2024-20
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- On Wikisource there is a special page listing pages of works without corresponding scan images. Now you can use the new magic word
__EXPECTWITHOUTSCANS__
to exclude certain pages (list of editions or translations of works) from that list. [43] - If you use the user-preference "Show preview without reloading the page", then the template-page feature "Preview page with this template (what's this?)" will now also work without reloading the page. [44]
- Kartographer maps can now specify an alternative text via the
alt=
attribute. This is identical in usage to thealt=
attribute in the image and gallery syntax. An exception for this feature is wikis like Wikivoyage where the miniature maps are interactive. [45] - The old Guided Tour for the "New Filters for Edit Review" feature has been removed. It was created in 2017 to show people with older accounts how the interface had changed, and has now been seen by most of the intended people. [46]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 14 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 15 May. It will be on all wikis from 16 May (calendar). [47][48]
- The Special:Search results page will now use CSS flex attributes, for better accessibility, instead of a table. If you have a gadget or script that adjusts search results, you should update your script to the new HTML structure. [49]
Future changes
- In the Vector 2022 skin, main pages will be displayed at full width (like special pages). The goal is to keep the number of characters per line large enough. This is related to the coming changes to typography in Vector 2022. Learn more. [50]
- Two columns of the
pagelinks
database table (pl_namespace
andpl_title
) are being dropped soon. Users must use two columns of the newlinktarget
table instead (lt_namespace
andlt_title
). In your existing SQL queries:- Replace
JOIN pagelinks
withJOIN linktarget
andpl_
withlt_
in theON
statement - Below that add
JOIN pagelinks ON lt_id = pl_target_id
- See phab:T222224 for technical reasoning. [51][52]

- Hi Argamble95, as stated, you didn't provide reliable source(s) to support your changes made. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 06:30, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
