Qanun article problem

Just wanted to alert you that someone has been trying to tag the qanun article with a template that identifies the instrument as a Persian ("Iranian") musical instrument. While I recognize that the quanun is indeed played in Iran, I have removed this template several times, as it is inappropriate to identify the instrument as such: by having the info box that this template creates at the bottom of the page, it gives the impression that the qanun is solely, or primarly, a Persian instrument, which it is not. What this creates, in essence, is ethnic strife over the history and provenance of the instrument. (It would be just as wrong to insert a template identifying it as a Turkish instrument, for the same reasons.)

Since I'm going to run out of "bullets" (that is, I can only revert this twice before getting into trouble), you might want to remove it yourself. +ILike2BeAnonymous 19:29, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
