I'll fix your userpage for you - No Charge! edit

Hello Optakeover! I noticed your request to have your userpage renovated, and I will be happy to help. I am handy with Wiki-markup, and know my way around the Userboxing world. If you agree, I will create a sandbox page and make changes to your userpage there, as not to disrupt your real userpage. I will take the changes you want me to make one at a time, with your comments on how I am doing. I can offer advice, and, when you are completely satisfied with my work, I will turn the sandbox into your true userpage. No change of your signature required! No redirects! Tell me on my talk page if you accept, and also tell me what you want changed. Thank you! --FastLizard4 (Talk|Contribs) 04:33, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The only person I have helped (so far) is User:Brennerdlinger. I added interactive userbox organization, and helped him with his monobook.js file.
--FastLizard4 (Talk|Contribs) 02:20, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Very well. Before I begin, however, I would like to know how you want your userboxes organized. Choices include a table, an interactive expandable drop list (see User:Brennerdlinger, or even a scrollable list. As for your signature, just go to Preferences and check the box "Raw Signature". Then put in your signature in the box above the checkbox, following standard wikitext formatting. For example, my signature: FastLizard4 (Talk|Contribs) can be generated by doing this: <span style="color:#228B22">FastLizard4</span> (<span style="color:#228B22">Talk</span>|<span style="color:#228B22">Contribs</span>). Simply replace all instances of FastLizard4 with your username, and replace all instances of #228B22 with the color of your choice. This list has all the colors and their hex code (#XXXXXX). Please note that the date is automatically added to your signature. By the way, now that I am getting started, it would be easier for both of us to communicate on your talk page. Also, it would be good if you placed userpage at the top of your userpage and usertalkpage at the top of your talk page.

Work will begin soon edit

OK. I will begin work soon, but preparation must be made first. It may be a day or two before I actually get started. All that needs to change is that the discussions regarding your userpage should take place here, as it gets cluttered on my userpage.

Alright, thanks. Optakeover 04:05, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

1st Edit Completed edit

OK. The first edit has been completed. I grouped the userboxes (while preserving the border colors) and moved the vandalism information box to the left, as to not interfere with the userboxes. I also added the userpage template to your page, you can see what that does. You should add the usertalkpage to the very top of your talk page for the same reason. You can see the changes I have made to your userpage here. If you don't like what was changed or want more changed, leave a message below. If you are totally satisfied with your new userpage, tell me below, and I will seamlessly move your old one to an archive page in your userspace and move the sandbox to become your true userpage.

I have corrected a format error with one of the userboxes. It's okay now. Alright, looks good. What else do you recommend me to put on my userpage? Oh, and I gtg after this message. Maybe you can add whatever you think is good, I want my userpage to be expanded. Put a few more userbox drop lists, maybe about 4 and I'll name them and put userboxes in myself. Thanks! If you can add the wikipedia signpost, would it be possible for it to be updated everyday? Optakeover 04:41, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Seems possible to update it as and when it's updated in the main template: Signpost-subscription is the one. Add this to the sandbox. Thanks and gtg. Optakeover 04:51, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, as a member of WikiProject Userboxes, I would say you need more userboxes (insert evil laugh)!. Also, it would be easier if I told you the format of the droplist. For example, your sandbox page has this for your userboxes.
{|align="right" width="160px"
|-
|<div>

<div class="NavFrame collapsed" style="padding:0;border:1px solid #0000FF;">

Lets say that you wanted another category. You would do this:
1. Between boxboxbottom and </div>, add a line with the following (copy and paste):

<div class="NavFrame collapsed" style="padding:0;border:1px solid #FF0000;">
<div class="NavFrame collapsed" style="border-style:none;padding:0;">
<div class="NavHead" style="background:#EDF1F1;text-align:left;text-style:normal">
xxxxxxx</div><div class="NavContent" style="">
yyyyyyy
</div></div></div>
boxboxbottom
2. Replace xxxxxxx with the desired name of the category
3. Replace yyyyyyy with your userboxes in the following format:
userbox1
hello
4. Rinse and repeat for every new category.
I apologize if the instructions don't make any sense. If that is the case, let me know.
Now, if you are totally satisfied with the changes I have made, tell me and I will go ahead and transfer the pages. Also, the signpost template should be added to your talk page, not your userpage. Again, if you like your new page, I should move it, becuase you should add new stuff yourself, because I can't help one person forever :-).
--FastLizard4 (Talk|Contribs) 05:02, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

 WARNING! If you want to add new userboxes to your userpage, add them to the sandbox page. When the pages are moved, your old user page will be overwritten by the new one.

Format error edit

In the counter-vd unit box, the red border height is too long. short.

Sorry, nothing really can be done about that (as far as I know), but feel free to experiment.
-FastLizard4 (Talk|Contribs) 03:49, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Anything you want to add is up to you; perhaps you can give me an idea of what you think is good to expand the page. I don't know what to add so I'm relying on you... Optakeover 12:38, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
As an addition, seperate the vandalism userboxes away and put them under a new drop list. Name: "Userpage and User Talk Vandalism" with or without the upper case letters. Optakeover 12:47, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Can do.
-FastLizard4 (Talk|Contribs) 04:02, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK. Done. I have separated the userboxes as requested. I have some words of advice for you:
1. It is up to you to figure out what you want on your userpage
2. When this is over (renovation), you should Semi-Protect your userpage to stop most vandalism. File your request under indefinite semi-protection for userpages requested by the user.
3. Make sure you categorize your userboxes, each droplist can only hold so many!
When renovation is over and you need help, there's always my talk page :-)

=WARNING! Page migration beginning! edit

Ok. I am going to transfer the pages so the renovated version will replace the old one. The old page will be moved here: User:Optakeover/User page/Archive. The sandbox will remain the same, and will be copied to your real userpage. Please be patient, and don't edit your userpage and/or talk page until I am done. When I am done, the entire discussion about renovation will be moved to the sandbox's talk page.
