Hynds & Buchan edit

Based on what I had in my books, plus a little extra Googling, I have created stubs at Tommy Hynds and James Buchan (footballer) (who was a half-back, FYI). Hynds is often referred to as plain Thomas in some texts so maybe that's why you've had no joy with the matter? I'm just pleased with the fortuitous timing - today is the 100th anniversary of his Arsenal debut. :) Qwghlm 23:09, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

No worries - it was a pleasure. Beats reverting vandalism, anyway. Oh, and that mcfc stats site is a real horror - what made them do it in Flash? Qwghlm 21:44, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

allfootballers.com edit

Yes - I am a subscriber and find it very useful for researching past players. Soccerbase is superb for active/recent players, but of no use when creating articles on players from the 60s and 70s or earlier.

I must admit that it's difficult to find out the cost, but after a bit of digging, I've come up with this:

18 Months subscription £18.88

12 Months subscription only £14.99

1 Month subscription £5.00

I hope this helps. Daemonic Kangaroo 05:50, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

My RFA edit

Hey, thanks so much for supporting my recent RFA. A number of editors considered that I wasn't ready for the mop yet and unfortunately the RFA did not succeed (69/26/11). There are a number of areas which I will be working on (including changing my username) in the next few months in order to allay the fears of those who opposed my election to administrator.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for your support over the past week. I've been blown away by the level of interest taken in my RFA and appreciate the time and energy dedicated by all the editors who have contributed to it, support, oppose and neutral alike. I hope to bump into you again soon and look forward to serving you and Wikipedia in any way I can. Cheers! Re: Tommy Browell edit

I take it the book didn't specify an exact date of birth? If not, I think we're going to be hard pressed to find it elsewhere. Still, narrowing his month of birth down to October or November isn't too bad going. ;) - Dudesleeper 22:09, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for remembering to check on that. As an aside, there's a faction of Wikipedia who regard trivia sections tantamount to a stake through their left scrotum (for the male half of the faction, natch). With that, how would you suggest we slide the note about the Manchester street being named after him into the main body of the article? I don't see an obvious juncture, unless it goes after the sentence on his passing. Do you happen to know if the honour was given during his lifetime or posthumously? - Dudesleeper · Talk 14:32, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.

I made something wrong. I forgot the list was last updated at Feb 2006! So some of the stadium not on list. http://www.fussballtempel.net/uefa/4and5stars.html Sorry. KyleRGiggs 20:18, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The reason why I found the problem is I found Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, which held the 2009 UEFA Cup final, not on the list of that website, so I think the edit should be reversed. KyleRGiggs 02:36, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD and prods of Howling Terror edit

Hi, I notice you have nominated Howling Terror for deletion at WP:AFD and also that you have prodded his three albums: Sampler 2004, Sampler 2005, and Sampler 2006. Given that the fate of the albums hinges solely on the fate of the musician, I suggest bundling your AfD nomination by adding the three albums to it. Otherwise, we may get a result where the AfD is kept and the albums are deleted (if, for instance, there is a backlog at AfD). Cheers, Black Falcon 03:59, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Liverpool F.C. edit

Good work on your recent copy edit of Liverpool F.C.. However, there's just one small detail I'd be inclined to change back (or change to something else again). You changed "The succession of winning managers appointed from within the club's staff is worthy of note" to "The succession of winning managers were all appointed from within the club's staff" - I believe the original sentence is better (although it could possibly be clearer) in performing the function of introducing a paragraph outlining the Shankly- Paisley- Fagan "Boot room" succession. It's not really a biggie (and it's nitpicking considering how good the rest of the edit is), but I can't help but think that para is an important part of Liverpool's history and the opening sentence as it stands now just doesn't seem to work. You're a sysop! edit

Hi, Oldelpaso/Archive 4, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop!

Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on articles for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.

Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=
PS Please add you name to WP:LA!

Estádio do Maracanã edit

Thanks for your comments on the peer review! I greatly appreciate your help. I agree with you that the article needs a section on the 'structure' (or architecture) of the stadium. The other bits about the track and the 'jutting out bit' are interesting questions too, I'll find out. I have one question of my own though, it's about the citing of facts given in the article. Most of the info I used in the article was taken from the Sambafoot article about the construction of the stadium. Do I need to put <ref>s after each sentence which uses a fact from the article? I think that would pollute the page with square brackets a bit... what do you reckon? Again, thank you, and congrats on becoming an admin. -GilbertoSilvaFan 22:55, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Back Fc edit

Hmm reliable sources? thats a poor excuse because how many Wikipedia pages are truly based on the Media... Anyway, [www.backfc.com] is the clubs official website. This national newspaper keeps track of the Highland amateur scene from time to time [www.pressandjournal.com]. This newspaper which mainly covers the Isle of Skye, but takes in the western isles from time to time covers the scene[1] And this local newspaper, local to the whole of the Western Isles, has the best infomation about the side, and the league we play in. Actually they just had a whole broadsheet page dedicated to us just this week I may add.[2] There obviously not not on the website right now because the local season just began on Friday, and the newspaper comes out every thursday... and just to add to what I said in the WikiProject page, we have also supplied a player to the USA national side, and he went on to captain the national side.

So if the guidlines are just some advice, what are the guidlines. There is no guidlines, hence the page will be legit :)

I am also seeing the the pages from clubs in these league aren't being deleted. Who play in the exact same level, and are registered in the exact same association, Scottish Amateur Football Association.

These are the league pages of the clubs:

Central Scottish Amateur Football League Kingdom Caledonian Football League Scottish Amateur Football League

So can I please just go ahead and make the page again? As I think I've put up a solid argument, with alot to back me up as to why the pages was unfairly deleted. I'll make an new page later on today :) Allanmac9 12:50, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your not making sence mate. Double standards - why do Oban Saints F.C. etc have a page?

Explain to me why they deserve a page and my club doesn't?

--Allanmac9 13:40, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Scottish Amateur cup is only open to lowland clubs, or its just clubs from there that enter. ITs a regional competition. Like the Highland Amamteur cup is the regional competition to the Highlands, so both cups are on par with each other - and Back FC won the cup in 2004! And have got tot he quarters on all occasions since then. The club has also beaten numerous Highland LEague sides since then, and beat the Scottish Amateur National side 4-0 two years ago. The club has also won the local region (Highlands and Islands) a place in the UEFA Regional Amateur Cup (Not sure what its actually called) where the best region from each country get to go and compete against the best regions from other countries, our club won or region that by beating the winners of the other regional cups(ie the winners of the Scottish Amateur Cup) Its exactly on the same par with these clubs.

So...?

Allanmac9 15:41, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Plus I had written a hell of a lot more than all the clubs in the Leagues I mentioned. Plus theres no junior football scene in this part of the world, and the clubs up here can't enter into the Highland league due to the costs for them, and for the other clubs. Because the Highland league is more of an East of Scotland league, rather than the Highlands as a whole. Allanmac9 15:41, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

We're not really here edit

RE- Francis Lee edit

Well i was under the assumption that you couldnt copy from other websites. And i would copy this information from a website if it was on a website but it isn't this is coming from my father. So perhaps you should research my claims and then replace the information back on the page, as it's all true. Look into it then apologise, he was a racehorse trainer, NFL player, lancashire leagues cricketer. And read Peter Kays biography to see if that fact is true. Ask anybody in horse racing to see if thats true. You are a fool and obviously a know it all, however you clearly don't. Why should he have a depleated article, when he has achieved so much. And so what if its a conflict of interests, nobody could add this information as it's from my father. You are a small brained idiot. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nikky88 (talkcontribs) 10:58, 14 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

Re: FYI edit

Re your message: Thanks for the alert. I checked the Dolphin's All-Time roster and there's no evidence of him playing for them. You would think their "Player of Season" [sic] would have been listed. I thought everything Nikky88 has added is suspect, so I'm glad that you were able to find sources for some of the things. I'm still a bit concerned about the diving part and his nicknames. Since you are much more familiar with football than I, I'll defer to you to check that (I wouldn't know where to start). -- Gogo Dodo 23:24, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
