October 2022 edit

Hello, I'm ToastGuard. I noticed that you recently removed content from Dungarvan CBS without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please remember to cite your sources. Toast (talk) 16:43, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I saw your message. I have looked back over my work, and found nothing wrong. The first thing that warranted a revert was the lack of an adequate edit summary, normally this would not be an issue and can just be discussed but on large edits it allows others to know why you added substance into an article. That alone did not make me revert, as instead i gave you a warning for it, however the next part did. This, was your lack of adequate citations. I have no quarrel with you or whatever you put in that article so long as it adheres to the Guidelines. There were no citations in the content you added, feel free to reuse other citations if they pertain to the information, but they must be mark as such. Here is a guide to citations and citing works. Hi edit

Hi. A couple of notes:

  1. WP:RS. The zhujiworld.com website is not a reliable source. And is certainly not "more reliable" than the CSO census data from the 2016 census of Ireland. All of the historical data on that webpage is inconsistent with all past census returns for Lemybrien. Not one datapoint overlaps. (Note also that settlement-level data has not yet been published for the 2022 census of Ireland. Nor, obviously, has data for the "early 2060s". Which remains 40 years in the future. The "World Bank", and other sources which that website claims to use, does not undertake census activities or maintain population statistics for small villages in rural County Waterford.)
  2. WP:PREVIEW. Please use the preview button. In this edit/revert, you inadvertently (re)introduced several syntax and formatting errors. To the extent that large red error text was displayed at the top of the article. And it was added to both the Pages with reference errors and Pages with incorrect ref formatting categories.

Cheers. Guliolopez (talk) 01:13, 8 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing hoaxes, such as Draft:Listenbourg Air Force, is considered to be vandalism and is prohibited. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges.

February 2023 edit

Hello, Oirish baguette. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. The page Draft:Suirly has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

This article needs to be rewritten from scratch from reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not an outlet for promotion, advocacy, or advertising.

Information on content and common pitfalls to avoid can be located here and here, however be aware that this is not an exhaustive list. Pages can sometimes avoid these pitfalls and still be seen as an ad copy or unambiguously promotional, particularly if the editor appears to be a paid editor or has some other conflict of interest. Please review these policies, including the FAQ page on organizations to determine if this applies to you.

Common mistakes or beliefs about promotional editing center on the assumption that promotional editing only applies to promotion for commercial gain. Some tags or G11 nominations are met with confusion by creators, particularly if they spend much time reading or creating corporate documents, mission/vision statements, or similar copy for their organization. The frequent exposure to promotional tone may make it difficult to notice non-neutral phrases or styles, as the editor has grown accustomed to seeing it as everyday writing or speech. This can be difficult, but not impossible, to unlearn.

Another common assumption is that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to businesses or organizations. Anything can be promoted, including a person, a non-commercial organization, a point of view, etc. and CV/resumé's are by their nature promotional.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see this page on citing sources. This page has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{Reflist}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there. New article creation can be difficult, but the Article Wizard can help you. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. You can also ask for help at the TEAHOUSE and on IRC chat.

New article creation can be difficult and frustrating. Sometimes it is better to first gain experience by fixing and helping maintain existing articles. Wikipedia:Community portal/Opentask contains links to things that badly need doing, if you are so inclined. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:14, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

December 2023 edit

Hi Oirish baguette! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you.
