Your invitation to participate in a Wikimedia-approved survey in online behavior. edit

Hello, my name is Michael Tsikerdekis[1][2], currently involved as a student in full time academic research at Masaryk University. I am writing to you to kindly invite you to participate in an online survey about interface and online collaboration on Wikipedia. The survey has been reviewed and approved by the Wikimedia Foundation Research Committee.

I am contacting you because you were randomly selected from a list of active editors. The survey should take about 7 to 10 minutes to complete, and it is very straightforward.

Wikipedia is an open project by nature. Let’s create new knowledge for everyone! :-)

To take part in the survey please follow the link: tsikerdekis.wuwcorp.com/pr/survey/?user=98631459 (HTTPS).

Best Regards, --Michael Tsikerdekis (talk) 12:04, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

PS: The results from the research will become available online for everyone and will be published in an open access journal.

UPDATE: This is the second and final notification for participating in this study. Your help is essential for having concrete results and knowledge that we all can share. I would like to thank you for your time and as always for any questions, comments or ideas do not hesitate to contact me. PS: As a thank you for your efforts and participation in Wikipedia Research you will receive a Research Participation Barnstar after the end of the study. --Michael Tsikerdekis (talk) 18:14, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

WikiIndaba 2014 edit

Hi Oesjaar, I have seen your question at User talk:Jimbo Wales, and I have noticed that it did not receive an answer. I'm one of the participants of this first WikiIndaba. I didn't give an answer because I hoped the organising committee members would respond, but now the thread has already been archived. You clearly have a point; organisers have put a lot of work into enabling other African editors to attend but apparently haven't considered people that might be living nearby.

If you are living in Jo'burg and can make a turn, I invite you for dinner on Thu 19 June to the Premier Hotel OR Tambo. My name is Peter Gallert, just ask at the reception, but please leave a short notice here or on my talk page so that I don't take up other commitments for that evening. If you cannot make it, be assured that I'll take this topic up with the organisers, most of whom I actually know. Sorry for your experience, and best regards, Pgallert (talk) 20:09, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I accept, what time will suite you? Regards! Oesjaar (talk) 20:18, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Not sure, how about 19:00? --Pgallert (talk) 20:38, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Crystal R. Fox edit

[3] It was clearly not vandalism, there was no reference for the date of birth and I linked to the af:Wikipedia:Verifieerbaarheid policy in my edit summary. The dates of birth were removed after discussion at Wikipedia:Help desk#Inaccurate_birthdate for actress CRYSTAL R. FOX 2601:C1:4102:BF19:C03D:697D:F388:369A (talk) 21:02, 23 September 2019 (UTC). Changes to lists of botanist by author abbreviation edit

Hi, to give the date of death of a person in Wikipedia requires a reliable reference. If the date is not in IPNI, the general reference for all the entries in the lists of botanist by author abbreviation, then an explicit separate reference against the entry that is changed from IPNI must be provided. Peter coxhead (talk) 18:52, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

It is indeed nice to know that the Afrikaans Wikipedia is more updated than the English Wikipedia... Regards. Oesjaar (talk) 17:28, 5 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
