Request reason:

In addressing Chinese user's assertions, I would like to formally state that the evidence presented is insufficient and lacks substantiation. The accusation appears to be predicated on a selective interpretation of contributions, primarily focusing on content that some individuals may find objectionable. However, engaging in editorial activities on topics related to Koreans, prominent Asian universities, and referencing official government websites discovered through standard Google searches does not constitute proof of identity with an account that ceased its activities approximately 4-5 years ago. My involvement is entirely independent, as clearly evidenced by the distinct differences in IP addresses. Moreover, the nature of my contributions has been grossly misinterpreted and falsely portrayed. The assertion that my edits are part of a calculated effort to misrepresent overseas Koreans as an integral part of the Chinese populace, or to inappropriately integrate Korean culture into Chinese culture, is not only unfounded but also suggests an ulterior motive akin to that of a dictatorial agenda. This misrepresentation of my editorial intentions is not only factually incorrect but also undermines the principles of objective and unbiased content creation on collaborative platforms like Wikipedia. It is crucial to distinguish between editorial content that seeks to inform and enrich public knowledge from content that is alleged to serve a specific, misleading agenda. My contributions have been consistently aimed at providing accurate, well-researched information, free from any form of cultural or nationalistic bias. In conclusion, the allegations put forth lack a logical basis and fail to provide concrete evidence linking my current activities to other user's and any past accounts which is not mine. It is essential to adhere to a standard of evidence-based accusations, particularly in a community-driven platform where integrity and accuracy are paramount. Korea is a country situated between Japan and China, and many of its people are fluent in English, as well as Chinese and Japanese. I am confident that it is unjust to launch personal attacks and conduct a dictatorial-style public trial with no objective evidence, merely based on the similarity of editing famous interests such as attempts by China to subordinate Korean culture and famous Asian universities. I have the right to freedom of speech, and I am under no obligation to echo the views of Chinese users hundred percent. Thank you.

Blocked as a sockpuppet edit

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively as a sockpuppet of User:Strategicasian per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Strategicasian. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Request reason:

(Yamla told me to post this here) Dear English Wikipedia, Please find the attached writing to appeal the block placed on my account, Oakwoodic, on both the English and Chinese Wikipedia. This situation, I believe, is a result of a serious misinterpretation of my actions and intentions as a Wikipedia contributor. I promise if I get unblocked then I will be more valuable to Wikipedia. My journey on Wikipedia began only a few months ago, with a focus on sharing knowledge and contributing to discussions about Korean and Japanese culture and some Sino-Korean history and facts. It was not long before I found myself amidst a complex dispute. My contributions, which were solely aimed at refuting some claims regarding Korean history and culture, were misconstrued as being expansionist in nature. This misunderstanding led to my account being blocked on the grounds of allegedly engaging in disruptive activities. The crux of the issue lies in the misinterpretation of my participation in discussions. I had challenged views which inaccurately portrayed all 80 millions Koreans as a 1.7 million minority with Chinese citizenship, Chaoxianzu (朝鮮族) and the Korean language as a dialect of Chinese language or just language of Joseon (朝鮮語). This stance, while aligned with historical accuracy, was wrongly seen as provocative or nationalistic. It’s important to note here that my arguments were in sync with the general consensus among other Korean users, and at no point did I deviate from the guidelines set forth by Wikipedia. Moreover, a language barrier contributed to this unfortunate situation. As a Korean native, I find comfort in using my mother tongue and often rely on translation tools for English such as Naver papago dictionary. This practice led to a misunderstanding, causing some to believe I was using automated systems or chatbots, which further complicated my case and resulted in a double block. My Korean keyboard typing speed is over 600, and I used the Korean-English translation of Naver's Papago dictionary. This is not a chatbot or chatGPT, it is a national dictionary that most Koreans use in their daily lives, such as college, work, etc. All the mail content and editing is my idea, and I wrote it myself. Source: https://en.dict.naver.com/#/main In my defense, I have received support from a Korean Wikipedia administrator Twotwo2019, who acknowledges the cultural sensitivity of the topics I discussed and agrees that my contributions were in line with Wikipedia’s standards. Additionally, a recent Checkuser analysis has provided evidence that my account is not associated with any other users engaged in disruptive activities. This analysis, I believe, is critical in demonstrating that my actions on Wikipedia have been independent and in no way violate the community’s standards. Source: https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/25943168 I understand the challenges administrators face in maintaining the integrity of Wikipedia, and I respect the diligence with which you approach this task. However, in light of the recent findings and the support from the community, I kindly request a reconsideration of my case. I assure you that my contributions to Wikipedia have always been, and will continue to be, in the spirit of sharing accurate and valuable information. My commitment to the Wikipedia community remains steadfast, and I am eager to resolve this misunderstanding so that I can continue contributing positively to this platform. I hope this appeal conveys my situation accurately and clarifies any misconceptions about my contributions. I am looking forward to a fair and just review of my case. Thank you very much. Thank you and best regards, Oakwoodic

I am declining this. Comments on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Strategicasian/Archive, esp. by User:Blablubbs, seem clear enough, and I agree, after checking, that the connection (and the overlap) with Strategicasian is strong enough. Drmies (talk) 22:41, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Just so you are aware, we can do nothing about a block on the Chinese Wikipedia; that is a separate project. 331dot (talk) 16:25, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your response. I understand that you cannot influence decisions on the Chinese Wikipedia. However, I am currently facing an issue with my block on English Wikipedia. I would greatly appreciate your assistance or guidance on how to appeal this block effectively. My intention on Wikipedia has always been to contribute positively and adhere to the community guidelines. If there have been misunderstandings or errors on my part, I am willing to address them and learn from this experience. Could you please advise on the next steps I should take to appeal this block on the English Wikipedia? Thank you very much! Oakwoodic (talk) 17:27, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@331dot,
I recently came across a comment by English speaking Chinese user Lemonaka‎ who is tracking me indicating that I am a “cross-wiki abuser” and that an SRG (Steward requests/global I guess) was requested. He just delete my thoughtful comments to Newbamboo and defined it as harassment (嫌がらせ). I think this is unfair. (https://ja.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=特別:携帯機器差分/98506765&markasread=40188245&markasreadwiki=jawiki)
I want to clarify that this is a misunderstanding and I have not engaged in any abusive activities across Korea-Japan-Chinese Wikipedia. I respectfully request that you refer to the Korean Wikipedia administrator Twotwo2019 for verification of my contributions and conduct. I have been active on the Korean Wikipedia and have adhered to all community guidelines and policies. My aim has always been to contribute constructively to the Wikipedia community. I believe in the importance of accurate and responsible editing on Wikipedia and have always strived to uphold these principles. If there are specific concerns or incidents that have led to this misunderstanding, I am more than willing to address and rectify them. Your assistance in resolving this matter and guiding me on how to proceed with an appeal would be greatly appreciated. I really hope you to unblock me at this English Wikipedia. Chinese wiki users claimed to block me on English wiki and Japanese wiki based on English wiki blocked me again but Korea wiki is supporting me. This is too China focused and Chinese users influencing my freedom of speech. Thank you for your understanding and support. Oakwoodic (talk) 17:56, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@331dot If you unblock me from the English Wikipedia, I promise to make a more constructive, mutually equal, and productive contribution and not do anything suspected of being a multi-account. For above reasons, I would like to renew my request for unblocking. Thank you. Oakwoodic (talk) 19:36, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Only a checkuser can authorize the removal of this block, and I don't think that's in the offing. 331dot (talk) 20:15, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@331dot@BlablubbsPlease consider this. Thank you. Oakwoodic (talk) 20:43, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Have a good day. Oakwoodic (talk) 20:43, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@331dot This is a cross-wiki abuser, SRG requested. -Lemonaka‎ 17:38, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I know that is what you think because I am Korean perspective and you are English speaking Chinese user. The contribution I made is 99% of Koreans would think the same as me. You are denigrating and personalizing every effort I make to contribute objectively to Wikipedia, including research on papers. I respect the Chinese and Japanese, but that does not mean that all Koreans' opinions should not be ignored. Korea, China and Japan should have equal freedom of speech. Please do not delete my comments. Is it allowed to delete other user's comments? Oakwoodic (talk) 18:04, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please do not cast aspersions on other editors. I highly recommend that you strike your first and third sentences in that comment. ~ F4U (talkthey/it) 03:07, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oakwoodic, please note WP:FREESPEECH: editing here is not a right, and using "freedom of speech" arguments will not get you unblocked. The only way you can get unblocked is to prove that you are not a sockpuppet and demonstrate that you have constructive contributions to make.--Jasper Deng (talk) 20:52, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
    Dear @Jasper Deng@Blablubbs I understand and respect the principles of Wikipedia, including WP:FREESPEECH. I acknowledge that editing on Wikipedia is a privilege, not a right, and my intention is to contribute positively to the Wikipedia community. I am sure that another administrator blocked me because I have similarities technically and with check users. Regarding the sockpuppetry concerns, I would like to highlight the CheckUser results provided by Korean administrator User:Sotiale, which clearly state   Unrelated (https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/25943168) between me and Strategicasian. This analysis indicates that there is no strong technical connection between my account and any alleged misuse. I believe this is significant evidence supporting my claim that I am not engaged in any sockpuppetry activities.
    Additionally, I have been actively contributing to English Chinese Japanese Wikipedia in a manner that aligns with its guidelines and standards. My contributions have been made in good faith, aiming to enhance the quality and accuracy of the information on Wikipedia. I am committed to continuing this constructive approach and am willing to work under any guidance or restrictions that the Wikipedia community deems necessary to demonstrate my dedication to being a valuable member of this community.
    I kindly request reconsideration of my block in light of this evidence and my commitment to positive contributions. Thank you and best regards, Oakwoodic Oakwoodic (talk) 03:50, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
