Bad Etiquette

It is considered bad etiquette to delete warnings from your talk page, it would be more acceptable to archive the information. Regards ZooPro (talk) 21:37, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

dhcp request edit

hi Nuster,

dhcp request is broadcasted not because of the reason you provided. It is because, client still has no info from which server it has received offer. Based on transaction ID, receiver server will send ack. Please let me know if you agree with this. --Vijesh (talk) 08:25, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Watchlist help

I am unable to remove the missing page HАGGER? from my watch list. I have managed to add and remove other pages, but not this one. I have tried using both the raw list and the check-boxed list, and have been told each time that the page has been removed from my watch list, but it still remains. I tried clearing the cache, but I have the same issue; I'm with Zebedee on this one. Is the question mark at the end of the name causing an issue?

As stated in my original question, I tried removing the link using the normal (checkbox) list and the raw list, but without effect either way. In both cases, the page is reported to be removed, but it still appears on the list afterword. I only have Firefox installed on this Linux box. I will look at VPT to see if it will help. I think it's caused by there being strange characters in the name. The one I'm stuck with is HАGGＥR? Ÿ, which has a non-printing character at the end (looks like hex 9F) and the individual letters are weirdly shaped. There were lots of variations on the Hagger theme at the time, so I suspect yours similarly has weird characters in it, even if it's perhaps not exactly the same one -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 07:13, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

I hadn't gotten rid of mine - it was still there. But I've now removed it using a method at that Help desk link (thanks John of Reading). I copied my entire raw watchlist out to a text file, saved an empty watchlist, then pasted it back in with the HAGGERs removed (I actually had two variants of it) -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:10, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Restaurant Makeover

Please see WP:SEEALSO. The purpose of a "see also" section is not to serve as a substitute for a category, comprising links to things with only a superficial relationship (such as an unrelated TV show with a similar name or a somewhat similar premise) — it's only meant as a "temporary holding tank" for relevant links that should actually get integrated into the main body of the article but haven't been yet. Appropriate links would be TV shows that are important or valuable to link to by virtue of being direct spinoffs, directly franchised versions of the same show in other countries, and the like — and even then only until someone actually expands the article so that there's a more natural place for them to be linked in the article body. But the purpose isn't to serve as a category substitute; the fact that another article would be sitting alongside Restaurant Makeover in a category that doesn't exist isn't sufficient grounds to list it under "see also" — if the main body text of the show's article wouldn't ordinarily be expected to directly contain a text link to that other show, then it doesn't really belong in "see also" either.

So yes, at least in theory, Restaurant Takeover is the kind of thing that could be in the "see also" section, because it is directly related enough to be contextually relevant — but WP:SEEALSO bans listing redlinks, so it can't actually be there either until it actually has an article. And even when that article does exist, it would still be preferable to link to it in a main subsection of the article body, if at all possible, rather than as a "see also". List of poker hands

Thanks for your edit to List of poker hands. I see that you have been active on the article for quite a while, and are the one to thank for ensuring no cards are used twice. I made it a point to keep the original selection as I saw the comment complementing your work on the talk page; the high card example contained duplicates because of a copy paste error.

However, I chose five aces as the example for five of a kind because it is the only one possible five of a kind when using a bug – the most usual situation in which five of a kind becomes possible. What do you think of changing the example back to aces, and replacing the aces in the other examples? Or do you prefer it how it is?

By the way, please do contribute to the article if you have any other thoughts. I have made some fairly big changes in an effort to get it back to FL standard, and currently have no feedback from peer review; I want to make sure I am going in the right direction. In the page of the Soviet space agency, you were the last to edit it, how do you feel about changing the caption below Yuri image to second man to survive re entry from space, OR something like that. It is quite clear Vladimir Illyushin was the first to return alive from space, whether the Kremlin cares to admit it or not. I understand the controversy and do not ask for a full inclusion in the article just a little change to the caption under yuri picture to give illyushin his proper due. I know its a bad idea, but i bring it to you kindly, and would never edit the page myself on an occasion such as this controversial in nature.
