Facebook license agreement

When you added this link back in, what terms are you looking at on the Facebook settings that you believe are relevant to Wikipedia? Just because someone publicly publishes something and gives you permission to look at it does not mean that they are giving you permission to redistribute it. Provision 2.1 says that you grant "us" (meaning Facebook) a "non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license" to the content. But just because Facebook has that license doesn't mean Wikipedia has it. --B (talk) 11:59, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

The photos for the page http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funk_Trek I uploaded via Facebook I thought legal and free enough for Wikipedia at section 2.4 on https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms. It reads "When you publish content or information using the Public setting, it means that you are allowing everyone, including people off of Facebook, to access and use that information, and to associate it with you (i.e., your name and profile picture)." So, I read 'including people off of Facebook' to mean Wikipedia. Facebook is really saying that anyone who wants the picture for their own use, like for an advertisement or something, they can use it because you agreed to let anybody who can see it publicly to use it, no matter if they keep it within Facebook or not. If there's more that I need to make it free, let me know.

No, that's not sufficient. Wikipedia wants something like the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license, which allows anyone to use the image for any purpose. The Facebook license agreement is essentially just an acknowledgement that stuff posted to Facebook isn't private, not an actual grant of rights to a third party. --B (talk) 15:22, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Your other photo uploads

Just to clarify, when you uploaded some photos in 2010 (File:Kelly Hansen and Mick Jones.JPG, File:Lawrence Gowan of Styx.JPG, File:Tommy Shaw of Styx.JPG, etc), you picked tags that indicate that you are the photographer of these images. Is that a correct statement - that you are the photographer, or is there someone else from whom permission needs to be obtained? The reason for asking this question is not to be obnoxious or anything - it's just because if, at some point in the future, someone looks at the photos and isn't sure, it's nice to have a statement of authorship that is more than just the ones automatically added by the upload wizard. Thanks.
