PR for A3 (Croatia)

Hi! Thank you for your review of the A3 (Croatia) article. I addressed all issues you brought up, but there is still unresolved question of the average toll. I added an inline citation linking to the official price list as I could not come up with an accurate figure for the average toll charge.

The ultimate train man project

You may be able to steer me to somebody who would know how to find sources on this:

Shawmont Station, 1834?

Supposedly this station is the oldest extant passenger railroad station in the U.S. (A Maryland 1830 or 1831 freight station was converted to a passenger station in the 1850s) At least according to our Manayunk/Norristown_Line#Station_list and two rail fan type websites. [1] and [2]. There something in the 1st about a Philadelphia Register of Historic Places, but I think that listing is unobtainable via the internet. I thought it looked more like a potential FA. Ping me and I will be glad to review it at PR. I have not been on this one, but I have ridden funiculars in Europe and always like pictures showing the two cars in one shot. If you are feeling opinionated, you could always weigh in on a discussion at the Forksville CB talk page on what order in which to have columns in the table. I just re-read it - added a missing verb. I also wondered if this sentence The Johnstown Inclined Plane was sold in April 1935 for $1 by the successor of Cambria Iron, Bethlehem Steel, to the borough of Westmont.[14] could be recast in active voice, so something like Bethlehem Steel, the successor of Cambria Iron, sold the Johnstown Inclined Plane in April 1935 to the borough of Westmont for $1.[14] SOmeone at FAC may want more details on the human fatality, but I know the NRHP form does not say lot more. In response to your post on my talk page: That's how I feel about most other subjects here! It can be very hard to find useful material for reference, even on a subject that is as thoroughly covered (in print) as U.S. coins. I was inspired by the excellent work of Wehwalt to help improve numismatic information here. I don't know if you've taken any photographs of your collection or not, but you could always add a numismatic-related image to Commons if you have. That's something that we could really use here. I'm not good at taking photos myself. Please don't feel like I'm trying to make you feel obligated or anything, I just wanted to let you know that images are always welcomed. Sacagawea dollar

Hi Niagara. Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you might be able to help me with something. I need an obverse picture of a Sacagawea dollar for an article I'm working on. Amazingly enough, I can't find any free use photos! Usually the U.S. Mint website is a good source, but they have copyrighted their Sac obverse images for some reason. Apparently reverse images are alright, but not obverse. If you have a scan of one from your collection, could you please upload it to Commons for me? 2009 or after would be best (because that is the current obverse), but any date would be great. I'm not positive, but I don't believe that U.S. coin designs can be copyrighted once they're in production. I might be mistaken, though. Either way, I think your fair use idea is a good one, and that's what I'll do. Thanks! I'll let you know when the article is finished. Hi Niagara. I just wanted to let you know that the Sac article is finished, and it's in the mainspace now at Sacagawea dollar. I uploaded the obverse with fair use rationale as we discussed earlier. The picture is here. Do you think I did the rationale right? I think I did it alright, but I'm not positive if I was specific enough on some of the fields. Those images look wonderful like that! I was trying to figure out how to do that but I wasn't getting anywhere. I really like the idea about the "small" tags, so I used them and it really improves the look considerably. I thought that the caps looked ugly, but I didn't even think of using that. WikiCup 2011 January newsletter

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1, Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! I can sympathize - had fairly short notice when Forksville Covered Bridge was TFA - the National Bridge Inventory had been updated since it became FA and so the data had to be updated in the article and several links had gone dead or moved too. Erie–Western Pennsylvania Port Authority

The Erie–Western Pennsylvania Port Authority does not appear in the List of municipal authorities in Erie County, Pennsylvania, and the authority's web site doesn't say what law authorized it. Most Pennsylvania authorities are either on the list of municipal authorities for a county, or their web sites say how they were authorized, usually by a specific state law or by interstate compacts. I have created government agency articles, such as Philadelphia Parking Authority and Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority, so I know they are hard work. GA Review

I have recently placed some comments on a GA review page. The editor of the article says that if no photos are available on Wikimedia Commons or to be found in the public domain elsewhere, then GA status can be achieved anyway. What do you think? WikiCup 2011 February newsletter

So begins round two of the WikiCup! We now have eight pools, each with eight random contestants. This round will continue until the end of April, when the top two of each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers of those remaining, will make it to round three. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions) (first, with 487 points) and Hurricanehink (submissions) (second, with 459), who stormed the first round. Casliber (submissions) finished third with 223. Twelve others finished with over 100 points- well done to all of you! The final standings in round one can be seen here. A mere 8 points were required to reach round two; competition will no doubt be much more fierce this round, so be ready for a challenge! A special thanks goes, again, to Jarry1250 (submissions) for dealing with all bot work. This year's bot, as well as running smoothly, is doing some very helpful things that last year's did not. Also, thanks to Stone (submissions) for some helpful behind-the-scenes updating and number crunching.

Some news for those who are interested- March will see a GAN backlog elimination drive, which you are still free to join. Organised by WikiProject Good articles, the drive aims to minimise the GAN backlog and offers prizes to those who help out. Of course, you may well be able to claim WikiCup points for the articles you review as part of the drive. Also ongoing is the Great Backlog Drive, looking to work on clearing all of the backlogs on Wikipedia; again, incentives are offered, and the spirit of friendly competition is alive, while helping the encyclopedia is the ultimate aim. Though unrelated to the WikiCup, these may well be of interest to some of you.

Just a reminder of the rules; if you have done significant work on content this year and it is promoted in this round, you may claim for it. Also, anything that was promoted after the end of round one but before the beginning of round two may be claimed for in round two. Details of the rules can be found on this page. For those interested in statistics, a running total of claims can be seen here, and a very interesting table of that information (along with the highest scorers in each category) can be seen here.
