December 2013 edit

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Werieth (talk) 12:32, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Werieth, our messages have crossed. Suggest to continue on your talk page! Nettings (talk) 12:36, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
You could simply upload it to Commons. Commons is very relaxed (per US case law and the "Best Western" test) about trademarked logos and what is considered to be "too simple" to be protected. Andy Dingley (talk) 13:39, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
He already tried that, the file is 100% copyrighted and well beyond TOO. Werieth (talk) 13:42, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Batman edit

Thanks for your input Nettings, it really does mean a lot as I feel like I am taking crazy pills faced with the complete obstructionism to video of any kind. It doesn't fail NFCC and I don't know how to get it delisted from deletion discussion because of that unfortunately. But your input in that discussion is very much appreciated. Thanks again. I was going more for geometric elegance and simplicity (using the "even-odd fill" algorithm), rather than absolute minimum filesize, but I don't see why the file couldn't be further edited to create derivative works... AnonMoos (talk) 09:18, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, it could be edited, but it's not as neatly separated into objects any more. Your version is almost like compiled code :) But then, the old version remains available for anyone who needs it, so no problem there. Best, --Nettings (talk) 09:51, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of List of Ambisonic Source Texts edit

The article List of Ambisonic Source Texts has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of how this might meet notability guidelines. Lacks citations to significant coverage in reliable sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 01:14, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi RadioFan, I don't really disagree with your concerns about this page - it's currently more of a public scratchpad of content that used to clutter the main Ambisonics article. I moved it to its own page to make the main page more concise, and didn't delete it altogether because there is some valuable content here and somebody obviously spent some effort to collect it - it deserves to be cherry-picked. As you see, the whole topic of Category:Ambisonics is currently undergoing a major rewrite, and as soon as I can find some time again and some of the more pressing issues on the other pages are dealt with, I will see to it that this little orphan is taken care of. Until then, I'd like to ask for the page to stay as-is. If you or somebody else is really uncomfortable with its continued existence, I could move the content to my user pages, but I try to avoid that because it might irritate other contributors... Nettings (talk) 22:53, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
The main wikispace is not appropriate for scratch pads. Please consider moving it under User:Nettings/List of Ambisonic Source Texts, it will still be editable by anyone who knows its there. This will make it clearer that the list not ready for prime time.--RadioFan (talk) 17:26, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
