Hello, Nerdvana, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

I've noticed your contributions to be, small but all very helpful, and would like to say the Wikipedia could do with many more constructive editors like yourself.

Again, welcome!  --DennyCrane Talk 13:21, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey Nerdvana, edit

If you are familiar with the Wiki formating mabye start with Neutral Point of View and What Wikipedia is Not. They are good places to start in terms of content, and you can read all of the other policies Here. Head on over to the Community Portal and see what things are on the To-Do list. Allthough mostly just write and edit what you find interesting. Often if you are interested in a certain type or catagory of article there is an associate Wikiproject which you can get involved in. Most of all just have a wander, have fun and Be Bold! --DennyCrane Talk 14:42, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

So, my article I created today (7th Son (Podiobook) is alright, isn't it? Nerdvana 14:55, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:HC SVNT DRACONES cover.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:HC SVNT DRACONES cover.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:05, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please provide assistance. New editor despite age of profile. I tried fixing it but the image got tagged again! (posting on the bot's talk page also!) --Nerdvana (talk) 09:55, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've added {{non-free book cover}}, which is the appropriate licensing template. However, since the article's only a draft and not published to mainspace.... —Cryptic 18:47, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:HC SVNT DRACONES cover.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:HC SVNT DRACONES cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Cryptic 18:47, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

It is used in an article! Its in a Draft article under my user space! --Nerdvana (talk) 20:01, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
...it's really not. WP:NFCC#7 requires that it be used in an article in the main namespace, not in a draft or userspace draft. WP:NFCC#9 forbids even its temporary use in one of the latter, though I haven't removed it (on the theory that the draft might be finished and moved to mainspace before the image is deleted). —Cryptic 20:07, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Also, even if the image is deleted before the draft is finished, it can be restored by a simple request at WP:REFUND when the draft's published. —Cryptic 20:10, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ok. This is very frustrating. The process of creating articles and following all the guidelines (which are not clearly explained, at least from my point of view) is reminding me why I stopped trying to be active on Wikipedia as anything but a user. Thank you for replying though, you are the first person who's edited anything I did in the past couple of days who has taken the time to reply to me. --Nerdvana (talk) 20:17, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, the hard realities of copyright law mean that we have to be very harsh in making sure we don't infringe on copyrights. Since a draft is just that: a draft, the consensus is that the limited fair-use exemption we can claim for a book cover in an actual article does not stretch as far as a mere draft of such an article. Copyright law is one of the toughest and roughest fields out there, because "intellectual property" (hate or love the term as we may) is among the most valuable on the planet. A couple of court decisions that went the wrong way could wipe a good part of the small endowment (by corporate standards) that the Wikimedia Foundation has managed to accumulate over the years. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:44, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
