AfC notification: Draft:Volkspark am Weinberg has a new comment edit

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Volkspark am Weinberg. Thanks! SamHolt6 (talk) 23:09, 9 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Dear SamHolt6, thank you for checking. Unfortunately, all the footnotes available are in German. Weinbergspark is a central park in Berlin Mitte district visited by a large international crowd. So I thought it would be nice to give the historical information on the park. Where do you think footnotes are missing and how do we resolve the lack of English sources? File:Pentland Group Logo.jpeg edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Orphaned non-free image File:Pentland Group Logo.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Pentland Group Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 04:03, 7 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for January 16 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited May Day in Kreuzberg, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Antifa (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:37, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Copyright infringement edit

I can see that you are a new editor, but you need to know that Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. You must not copy and paste text from sources you find on the web into articles as you did in the article Aurelius Group. I have removed the infringing text, but the material you copied is subject to copyright, as is almost everything on the web, and when creating or expanding articles, you should completely rewrite the information from the source using your own words.

I have also removed a lot of promotional material from the article. If you are being paid for creating the article, you need to disclose the fact as mentioned here. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 14:13, 2 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Dear Cwmhiraeth, thank you for pointing that out to me - I indeed had made a mistake and accidentally copied and pasted a text I had not fully worked on from a doc I had prepared (which I usually do for translations, new articles etc.). So just to get things clear: I should rewrite Business-Insider in Wiki style and use it as source, correct? How do I deal with the Logo (which is officially accessible here), as well as the financial table available here - it would be hard to rewrite though? As far as I understand, the logo should be fine to use under these Wiki Rules right? Thank you for your comments & help. --Neomicro (talk) 08:08, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
You can use that press release as a source but you should just summarise the main salient points. Better however, would be to use third party sources that mention the company. I am not competent to answer your other questions.
In the infobox it states "Number of employees: 19,263 (31 December 2017, division: Aurelius Equity Opportunities)" and "Revenue: 3,353 billion Euro". These claims seem false to me seeing that the press release states "AURELIUS Equity Opportunities currently has 24 portfolio companies located across Europe which employ around 20,000 people and generate annual revenues of more than EUR 3.8 billion". Number of employees should be the number who work for Aurelius Group and Revenue should be the group's revenue. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:30, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Cwmhiraeth. I will have a look these days and see how I can adapt things! Was offline for sometime. --Neomicro (talk) 08:28, 20 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Dear Cwmhiraeth, I just edited the page to make things more clear. I would maybe suggest changing the name to Aurelius_Company instead of Group?! However comparable companies like The Carlyle Group are also named "Group". Thank you for your help and feedback. Happy to learn and improve along the way! --Neomicro (talk) 09:51, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • The company seems to be called "Aurelius Group" so that is what the article should be called. Please do not add back incorrect information as you did after I removed it. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:14, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Are you a paid editor with a conflict of interest? edit

Hello Neomicro. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Neomicro. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Neomicro|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:10, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry to template you in this way but I did ask you the question earlier and you did not respond. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:12, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Dear Cwmhiraeth, no worries. This is an industry I have been interested in for quite some time, and I am always happy to share my knowledge. But no, I don't get paid for Wikipedia. I just want to share my knowledge. On Group vs. Company - most are called group, so we can either call it group or company. Do you have any strong preference? There is also a German Wiki site from which a lot of that content has been taken. I am also planning a profile on Better Capital, maybe H2 Capital and maybe some others. What are your thoughts on them? Best, --Neomicro (talk) 09:44, 1 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. The article should be called "Aurelius Group". The name "Aurelius (company)" would only be suitable in order to disambiguate the article if there was another Wikipedia article title with which it could be confused. The article should be cross-linked with the German language article via the "languages" tab on the left of the screen, but I do not know how to do this. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:43, 1 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Dear Cwmhiraeth, thank you again. I will try to figure out the cross-linking! Best, --Neomicro (talk) 10:02, 4 March 2019 (UTC).Reply
Dear Cwmhiraeth, as I would like to finish things up here, I wanted to make sure that you are ok with me removing the box on top of the article now. Figured out the cross-linking btw it was quite easy (German necessary though) Best, --Neomicro (talk) 09:04, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have removed the tag. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:27, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Koyo Bear edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Koyo Bear, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. translation tags edit

Hey! Thanks for creating Zionskirchplatz and for stating in the edit summary it was translated from German. It is best in such cases to provide direct URL (to the de.wikipedia.org page) + to mark translation on talk like this: [1].--Eostrix  (🦉 hoot hoot🦉) 12:52, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! I am still a bit new to translations and will keep this in mind for the future - next up is probably Arkonaplatz :) Always happy to learn more --Neomicro (talk) 12:58, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Also, addendum, if you think a topic is notable, e.g Arkonaplatz, it is appropriate to link to in other articles (e.g. Zionskirchplatz), as this is a good red link. See: WP:REDYES. --Eostrix  (🦉 hoot hoot🦉) 13:18, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Dear 🦉 hoot hoot🦉 I now tried with Arkonaplatz: did I do it right? Also added red links - a lot to be done! --Neomicro (talk) 06:18, 2 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I'm Eostrix not "hoot hoot", (but that's just the way I talk) :-). Yes, the translation tag on talk is good.--Eostrix  (🦉 hoot hoot🦉) 12:53, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Danke :) ! --Neomicro (talk) 11:46, 5 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
While I agree in principal, please be careful to only translate with a reference (when the German has no reference, find one!), and in factual tone, not promotional speak. Sorry, I reverted an addition to the Berlin State Opera where both were a problem. - Bitte! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:30, 26 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Dear Gerda Arendt I completely understand and thank you for your revert. When I translated it I had the same thoughts - why are there no references and why are you translating it. No idea why I did it anyway. But that's the beauty of Wikipedia it simply works. I will check the German version now and see if I will remove the unsourced content unless I find a source! Danke! --Neomicro (talk) 13:30, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Dear Gerda Arendt I just worked on the German Version of "Künstlerisches Profil Staatsoper" added sources and removed "Bemerkenswert". How would I now best take a second shot at the english version if at all? Danke! --Neomicro (talk) 13:46, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the refs. I actually don't think we need it in English at all, and certainly not under the header, and not after lists of people. If something really matters, it could appear within the chronology. I saw Poppea after the reopening and was highly impressed! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:52, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Ok :) Haven't had the chance to go see Staatsoper yet unfortunately. Let's leave it like it is then for now. --Neomicro (talk) 14:10, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Wholecoiner edit

The article Wholecoiner has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article does not meet WP:GNG in any way. It doesn't meet our guidelines of inclusion. It should be deleted or redirected.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
