Nice start on your draft. A few things you could improve

  • From a purely formatting perspective, section headers should not be capitalized (apart from the first word and any proper nouns). References go after punctuation, not before.
  • Simpler is better, and it's best to avoid metaphorical language. For example

With the rise of genetic data, it was shown that modern extant seed-plants form their own monophyletic group, excluding Bennettitales

It's far better to say something more direct like

Based on genetic data modern extant seed plants have been show to form their own monophyletic group, excluding Bennettitales
