Question

When I wrote this, Sainsf hadn't asked any question. After the user wrote the question, I saw it, but I don't have any information on Javier Moro, so I can't help. The kind of research is usually done by the one who wants to write the article. Coloured Username

Some general information on how to customize your signature is at Wikipedia:CUSTOMSIG, however it doesn't explain how to change the color in a signature. Follow the instructions there to get to the page where you can change your signature, and then add <font color="colorname"> before the text you want to change to a different color and </font> after it, replacing colorname with the name of the color you want to use. What do these numbers mean ?

Hey you helped me before so hopefully you can again. In My Watchlist list, I've noticed that each post has a number in brackets with either a positive (+) or negative (-) sign before it. Those are called infoboxes, and there are a lot of different infoboxes that can be used for different types of articles. There are many in Category:Infobox templates. I see that after you asked this question, you put an infobox on We Will Bury You (comics). {{Supercbbox}} redirects to Template:Infobox comic book title, so you can see directions there for using that infobox. There are many different options for creating tables. See Help:Wikitable for basic help or Help:Table for more advanced help with tables.

If you want to copy Can't sleep, clown will eat me's userpage design and use part or all of it as your own, just press Edit to copy the code, paste it onto your userpage, and change the username and anything else you want. That user also used subpages for some of the content, like User:Can't sleep, clown will eat me/Border and User:Can't sleep, clown will eat me/End Border, so if you want to use content that's on the subpages, you'll have to copy the code from there too and create your own subpages in your userspace. I also suggest you not copy content like barnstars and personal details because that can be seen as bad etiquette.

You can copy and paste the text the same way you can copy and paste any text on your computer. It depends on the operating system and browser you're using, but for most people you press Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste. Please let me know if there are any more questions. I've added one reference (the interview) and removed the {{unreferenced}} tag from We Will Bury You (comics). The other two aren't appropriate as references. The first one is primarily a blog which is not usually appropriate as a reliable source, and also I cannot find any information on the article that was referenced from that site anyway. Added Template & Category

I'd like your opinion on something that I have noticed on a page that I watch. The last two edits on One_Potato,_Two_Potato include adding a template called 'Films Directed by Larry Peerce', and a category of a similar title.

My question is, doesn't this seem to be redundant?? Twice??

I don't see the point of either of these contributions, as anyone wanting to view other work by Larry Peerce, can click on the infobox link to his page. Additionally, if this is seen as a needed edit, then wouldn't it stand to reason that additional templates and categories be added for each of the film's actors, and other production personnel??Yunchie (talk) 16:55, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

It's not redundant. The purpose of both categories and navigation templates is to group related articles together for navigation. The same information can be read on Larry Peerce but it's in prose format. Categories and navigation templates allow easier access to related articles, but in different ways with different advantages and disadvantages to each. For example, the navigation template Template:Larry Peerce allows gives more information like the year of each release, while the category Category:Films directed by Larry Peerce is part of a category system that is good exploring the knowledge of Wikipedia. All of the formats aren't in conflict with each other, they're just different. Please see Wikipedia:Categories, lists, and navigation templates if you'd like to read more.

If there were categories and templates for other actors and film crew, then they probably should be added, but they don't exist and probably not going to be created. In the past, that's generally been considered overcategorization.

I'd like to help, but I'm not sure how much help I can provide. Any templates created in the Oriya Wikipedia should use the Oriya language, which I don't know at all. Also, the main page is protected and can only be edited by administrators. It should be something like this to be at the end of each article under the wiki-

or:Template:Navbox, or:Template:·, and other necessary template already exist on the Oriya Wikipedia, but they do not display the same way (see or:Template:States and territories of India). The Oriya Wikipedia is missing some code needed to display the same way. See the top of Template talk:Navbox where the page talks about how to copy the template to local wikis. The Oriya Wikipedia is missing its own version of MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Common.js. Only administrators on the Oriya Wikipedia can create pages in its MediaWiki namespace, so you'll have to ask an administrator there to copy those pages over for navbox templates to display the same way. --Mysdaao ^talk 14:20, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

It looks correct to me. On your user page on the Oriya Wikipedia, the color there looks the same as the color here and on your English Wikipedia talk page. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't see that the word navbox the first time.

The color will be added when MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Common.js are copied to the Oriya Wikipedia. As a test, I just copied those files to my personal CSS and JS pages (here and here) on the Oriya Wikipedia, and then I could see the navbox colors. You can do the same thing to try it out, but like I said, an administrator has to create the real versions there for everyone to see it correctly.

Font

Does anyone ever query the sans serif font currently in use? On another site I came across a Verdi opera which looked like EMANI, when I know it should be ERNANI, and went to the Verdi page to check. There, it too looks like EMANI. Very close examination shows that it is inded ERNANI - but surely there shouldn't be a need to investigate due to these dreadful sans serif fonts? If you're having trouble, there are options to change how Wikipedia is displayed. First, try changing the skin by clicking My preferences at the top of the page, going to the Appearance tab, and selecting a different skin. You might find a different skin that you can more easily.

You can also try changing the font and size options in your browser. Normally, the web browser will let the website set the font, but this can be changed. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools->Internet Options, click Accessibility, check "Ignore font styles on webpages" and "Ignore font styles on webpages", and click OK. Then press Fonts, and you can select any font you want. If the size is too small, press Ctrl and + at the same to increase the font of the page, and Ctrl and - at the same time to decrease the font of the page. If you're using a different browser (such as Firefox) the way to change these options will be different.

Your article on Leslie Fuller states that, with his brother Dave, performed in the Silloth Pierrots. According to my records, he didn't have a brother called Dave - there was William Dollar and Ernest John. Emma Cons plesse see her page

I managed to add a Reference section without using a template. Now I can't understand the template system which it seems I must use which will cause the 3 items shown under Ref No 1. to be moved to appear under a separate Notes section. In the various efforts to try to get this right I think I must have deleted an existing Notes section. Oh for some idiot-proof *examples* in the instructions! Are you asking about making the three references appear like the other one, or creating a separate section?

If you are asking the template for references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners for examples. Basically, if you want to create footnotes, put something like this:

<ref>Reference text</ref>

in the body of the article next to the information that the reference supports, and put:

{{reflist}}

at the end of the article in a section titled Notes or References to display the references, so it all looks like this:

Sainsf, here's how you name references. The first time a reference name is used, it should look like this:

<ref name="name1">Author, A. (2007). "How to cite references", New York: McGraw-Hill.</ref>

and the other times that reference name is used, it should look like this:

<ref name="name1" />

so then it will display like this:

Article text. Article text.

"name1" is just the example name I used. The reference name can be anything you want, as long as you reuse it exactly. Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners#Same reference used more than once is also a good resource for understanding this. Please let me know if there are any more questions. Well, here's the problem: 1) You know what biographies have on the talk page as a warning. 2) And you know I was acussed of being a sock. Just try to remember that it was one user who opened the sockpuppet investigation. One user out of many, and it was closed soon after. So the defamation is coming from a very, very small part of the entire Wikipedia community, and I think the "damage" is a lot smaller than you think. I would appreciate your opinion on the inclusion of a section surrounding a current news event (2011 Natural Gas Incident) in the community of Talk:Fairport_Harbor,_Ohio by editor, User:Mapsax. My opinion is that it doesn't blatantly violate any Wikipedia policy, but it doesn't belong in the article Fairport Harbor, Ohio. From the references that were used, the incident did not get coverage beyond local news, and it won't be considered a significant event in the town's history in the future. clarification about a Block

Hello, My name is Epstein27 and I am the CIO of Worcester Academy (our wikipage is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worcester_Academy). I have one of the employees at the school monitoring our school's page and making sure that all of our noted alumni connect back to us. Recently he received the following message and I was not sure why, nor could I figure out who the person was who blocked him.

The user, Tatnuck, was blocked for one week by the administrator JamesBWatson. The reason for the block was for using Wikipedia for advertising. You can see on his talk page that he received multiple warnings for the external links he was adding to articles, with explanations of why they were inappropriate. As you can also see from his contributions, he was adding a link to Worcester Academy's website in the bodies of many, many articles. This is a violation of Wikipedia's policy on external links (you can read it at Wikipedia:External links). Whether or not he was intending to advertise, it certainly appeared that he was doing a lot of external link spamming, which is also against Wikipedia policy (see Wikipedia:LINKSPAM).

The block lasts one week, so the employee will be able to edit again on March 21. If you want, you can talk to the administrator on his talk page User talk:JamesBWatson, but I doubt he'll lift the block sooner. Also, you should know that he or anyone affiliated with Worcester Academy is strongly discouraged from editing articles associated with it because it is a clear conflict of interest and leads to problems like what has occurred. More can be read about the guidelines at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

Problem with Ref numbering

I have tried and tried to fix it so that the ref [2] appears after the final sentence.

All sorts of resultant problems had arisen causing totatl perplexment (if there is such a word), so eventually I hit upon Cut the final sentence and Paste immediately before the penultimate one - but the ref has changed to [1]

Picture has disappeared

Hello Mysdaao, I would like to ask your help again. In my article, Chris Roupas, a photo has disappeared, it's photo box is still on the page but it is blank. It is a black and white photo on the left of the page under the section called United States Ahepa All Star Basketball Team. Here is the wording for it:

When you click on the box, it does take you to the photo, but somehow this evening it doesn't show up anymore on the wikipedia page. The image displays for me exactly where you say it should be in Chris Roupas. It may have been a temporary glitch on Wikipedia, or you may have accidentally blocked the image in your browser. To do this, add this code to the Signature section under your preferences:

I don't see anything I can do. The main referencing problem, as pointed out in the peer review and good article review, is that parts of the article are unsourced, and some of the sources are not considered reliable. I don't have the expertise to know where to find reliable sources that are needed for this information. Link leads to adverts

I don't believe it was originally meant as advertising. The actual link itself in the article is to http://www.waitrose.com/food/celebritiesandarticles/ingredients/2007/October/Ingredient_Quince.aspx, but it now redirects to http://www.waitrose.com/. Most likely the original page linked to had information about the history and recipes of quince. Barry Cooper musicologist

This man has his own page but was not listed in notable inhabitants of Westcliff on Sea. I attempted to remedy this but the link I made pointed to the Barry Cooper disambiguation page, not to Barry Cooper the musicologist.

Using the John Smith explorer example I have attempted to correct my error but think after many efforts I've simply gone round in a circle.

You want a link pointing to Barry Cooper (musicologist) that displays the text "Barry Cooper". This is how you do it.

@Alexf42016: There is no single editor for QuickBase or any other page. Any article can be edited by anyone (except for a few limitations). This particular user, SwisterTwister, happens to be editing QuickBase to revert your changes, and he is explaining why in his edit summaries, that you can see page's history. SwisterTwister doesn't believe the company to be notable enough to have its own page. You are editing the redirect correctly, but the content doesn't meet the notability guidelines at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Please read that page to understand more. My page was rejected for news release sources mentioned above, and since I have updated the page to remove them and add many more notable sources. Now that more than 3 weeks has gone by for the page to be reviewed again, how do I politely ask that someone review the page or see if I need to do anything else to notify an editor on the page itself?
