Disambiguation link notification for May 1 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dinesh subasinghe discography, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hariharan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your edits at Dinesh Subasinghe edit

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Dinesh Subasinghe, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please also read the additional comments at Talk:Dinesh Subasinghe. These problems will not go away by themselves. The maintenance templates are there to alert other editors who may be able to fix the problems. The fact that some of the article appears to contain copyright violations, is particularly serious. If you have any affiliation whatsoever with Dinesh Subasinghe, either personal or professional, please read this page for guidance when editing under these circumstances. Voceditenore (talk) 16:14, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your inappropriate edits to Dinesh Subasinghe edit

Your edits to this article (and related articles) continue to be inappropriate. I have reverted your re-addition of a misleading image and claim and have given my reasons at Talk:Dinesh Subasinghe#Misleading and superfluous image removed. Do not attempt to re-add this image without discussing it on the talk page, and do not attempt to do so by editing as an anonymous IP while logged out, e.g. [1], [2]. (See WP:Sockpuppetry.) Please remember to leave an edit summary every time you edit an article. So far, you have refused to do so for any of your edits. Once again, if you have any affiliation whatsoever with Dinesh Subasinghe, either personal or professional, please read the guidance at WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Autobiography and follow it scrupulously. Khemadasa in concert (Dinesh Subasinghe led the Premasiri khemada's orchestra in many concerts and operas )

Dinesh Subasinghe was the leader of Preamsirri Khemadasas orchestra, watch the Agni Picture and compoare this picture same violinist is playing, please help tp get the picture on profile

please check these pictures, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Musiclanka (talkcontribs) 15:38, 9 May 2013‎

  • I will re-add the picture with an appropriate caption. The one you had written was completely misleading with unsupported, self-aggrandizing claims. Subasinghe did not "lead" Khemadasa's orchestra. In English "lead" refers to the Conductor of the orchestra (or sometimes in large Western symphony orchestras to the Concert master). All those pictures show is that in the past he played the violin in Khemadasa's orchestra.
Note also that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Its articles are not "profiles" or free personal web pages. It is not to be used for publicity and advertising, which is what you have been quite blatantly doing. Several other editors have noticed and reverted your constant attempts to insert unsubstantiated and promotional material about Subasinghe in multiple articles.
Finally, you (or your associates) editing while logged out to continue these attempts and to revert other editors when they remove the inappropriate material you have added is strictly against Wikipedia policy. As is your repeated removal of maintenance templates without fixing the issues they highlight. See also the message to you below from a another editor. Please read Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and take heed of the guidance there. If there are any further repetitions of this, I will take this to the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard and I may open a Sockpuppet investigation. In future, please discuss issues relating to article content on the article's talk page. Voceditenore (talk) 16:30, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Another word of advice. Please read WP:TALK, which has guidance on how to participate properly on the talk pages of articles and on other users' talk pages, including the need to sign your messages. So far, all your editing on Wikipedia has been to publicise Dinesh Subasinghe. You now need to take the time to familiarise yourself with how editors here are expected to communicate and to participate collaboratively with each other before you make further edits to articles. Image problems at Rawan Nada edit

I am copying this from Talk:Rawan Nada because you have uploaded many images to Commons with dubious licensing claims and it applies to all of them.

It is not sufficient to simply say you "have the copyright" to an image which has been previously published elsewhere. Please read this page which explains this and the procedure you must use to verify that you own the copyright or have permission from the copyright holder to release the image under a free license. If you do not follow these instructions, or if you make false or unverifiable statements, the image will be deleted from Commons. If you do this repeatedly, you risk being blocked from Commons altogether. You can ask a question about these issues at the Commons Help Desk. This applies to all the images you have uploaded. I'm afraid it will be only a matter of time until most of them are deleted.

For the covers of albums or singles, you may upload the image to English Wikipedia instead of Commons. But to do so, it must comply with our policy on Fair use and have a detailed fair use rationale on the file page. Please read Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline which has guidance on this. External links and conflict of interest edit

This is your last warning re your clear conflict of interest in editing articles related to Dinesh Subasinghe, as evidenced in [this statement. The anonymous IP editor (175.157...) is either you editing logged out or a close associate of yours. If the latter is the case, please tell that person that they also must stop adding or re-adding excessive and inappropriate external links and as you have done here and here. Please read our guidelines at Wikipedia:External links. You are clearly using Wikipedia to advertise this person and to drive traffic to his videos and sites selling downloads to his music. This is completely unaccepatable. Voceditenore (talk) 06:15, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Deletion discussion about Nursery Rhymes Audio CD edit

Hello, Musiclanka,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Nursery Rhymes Audio CD should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nursery Rhymes Audio CD .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Proposed deletion of Ranushka fernando edit

The article Ranushka fernando has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

non-notable artist

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Dan arndt (talk) 02:25, 7 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • You will firstly need to ensure that the article addresses the notability criteria for a musician (which can be found at WP:MUSICBIO) and the main aspect is to ensure that Ranushka Fernado is the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from himself. The references that you have provided appear to only mention him in passing and do not establish his individual notability. You will also need to remove highly subjective terms such as "Noble businessmen", "he has done some wonderful work" and "his works have been highly appreciated", unless you can substantiate those comments, with cited references. The references provided are also just bare URLs and need to be full citations (WP:CITE). If you feel that it is going to take you some time to document sufficient sources to establish his notability then I would strongly suggest that you create the article as a draft in your sandbox (i.e. at User:Musiclanka/sandbox/Ranushka Fernando) - then when you have addressed all the issues with the article you can move it to the Wikipedia mainspace. If you have any queries regarding any of the above let me know. Dan arndt (talk) 05:21, 7 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Ranushka Fernando edit

The article Ranushka Fernando has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DThomsen8 (talk) 03:20, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Ranushka Fernando edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ranushka Fernando requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Dan arndt (talk) 05:24, 16 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Rawan Nada edit

Firstly I did not 'delete' the item. I did nominate the articles for potential deletion. The AfD process is where Wikipedians discuss whether an article should be deleted. Articles listed are normally discussed for at least seven days, after which the deletion process proceeds based on community consensus. Then the article may be kept and improved, merged, redirected, incubated, transwikied (copied to another Wikimedia project), renamed/moved to another title, transcluded into another article (or other page), userfied to a user subpage, or deleted per the deletion policy. In this particular case the decision was that the article be redirected to Dinesh Subasinghe, which is what occurred.

In respect to the article on Karuna Nadee, again all I have done is nominate as an article for potential deletion, as I believe it does not satisfy the criteria under WP:ALBUMS - if you believe that it does then you need to provide comment at the AfD discussion clarifying why the article should be retained. This needs to be more than a passing reference the recording was made or that the recording actually exists - as you have provided to date. Dan arndt (talk) 08:47, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Karuna Nadee edit

Karuna Nadee edit

Karuna Nadee (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View log · Nadee Stats)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Article fails WP:NALBUMS in that it hasn't charted, won any major awards, received significant airplay or being part of a notable media performance. All the Sri Lankan newspaper articles on Karuna Nadee seem to be based on press releases and/or interviews with its composer and only prove that the album existed not its significance. It should be noted that on the article's talk page the claim that the album was "the first Buddhist oratorio" has been conclusively disproven. Dan arndt (talk) 05:51, 4 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Karuna Nadee deletion is an unfair Decision. Last month Dan arndt deleted Rawan Nada Article of mine ,he mentioned that it has no recognition and importance, then i gave many web links about it,and he mentioned it all about Dinesh Subasinghe and his album Karuna Nadee, now i will present this link about its record, its was the most sold instrumental album in sri lanka, sri lanka is a country with a small population 20 million,so it wont be like a hollywood production,i try my best to bring out the data of local artists to the world, valuable things are happening here,so why cant wikipedia support us to bring our data to the world,we have a historical heritage for 2500 years and still some important art work are happening, event after 30- years war

  • Redirect to Dinesh Subasinghe. I agree with the nominator that it doesn't pass the criteria at WP:NALBUMS (at least on the available evidence, all press-release/interview based or passing mentions). It's theoretically possible to have an article on it as a composition per se, but there does not appear to be any evidence of this work having been extensively performed or even premiered in a notable venue. The composer, Dinesh Subasinghe, is reasonably notable in Sri Lanka, however, not so notable than any composition by him would be worthy of a stand-alone article. All the relevant material on this composition/recording is already in Dinesh Subasinghe#Buddha oratorio: Karuna Nadee. The article should be redirected to that section, as the title might be a search term for WP readers in Sri Lanka. If the work eventually achieves independent notability, the redirect can always be turned into an article again with the history intact. But not now. Voceditenore (talk) 08:20, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Redirect to Dinesh Subasinghe or to a discography subpage. I concur with the other editors that I'm not seeing a significant justification per the Album notability for a page to exist on the English Wikipedia. Perhaps there's a good case for a page in some other language wikipedia, but not here. Furthermore Musiclanka appears to be canvassing for editors to support their viewpoint. Endorse a reminder to them about their actions with respect to consensus. Hasteur (talk) 20:11, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Dinesh Subasinghe discography edit

Unfortunately the article doesn't comply with what is normally expected for a discography article, in that it includes lists of awards, TV shows, jingles etc. A discography should essentially be limited to a list of official recorded music releases (such as albums, EPs, singles, soundtracks) not a list of where music written by the artist has appeared. I am intending to re-write the article removing signficant superflous information. I understand that you have been heavily involved in the creation/expansion of the article over the years and therefore wish to work with you rtather than against you in respect to those edits.   Hello, I'm ChamithN. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Ho Gaana Pokuna seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. TOYP Sri Lanka edit

In your comments on my talkpage you state "the organisation who doing this ceremony have requested me to write about this to Wikipedia" if that is the case then you have a 'conflict of interest' and you need to follow Wikipedia policies and best practices scrupulously. You need to fully disclose your conflict of interest on the article's talkpage. In fact Wikipedia policies strongly discourage you from editing affected articles directly.

You also state "dont block us, we are from a third world country and we try to bring our data to the world,". Firstly I (and other editors) are not trying to block you. If articles do not meet Wikipedia standards then they are likely to be modified or deleted (particularly where you are copy and pasting sections of copyrighted material). Secondly I disagree with your generalisation that Sri Lanka is a 'third world country' I have been to Sri Lanka numerous times and have had close contact with Sri Lankan editors and there is nobody I know who would class the country as 'third world'. Lastly and most importantly you need to familiarise yourself with Wikipedia policies and requirements before entering new articles. I would suggest that in the future you create the articles as draft so that they can be reviewed by other editors before being lodged in the mainspace.
