Second account? edit

Do you have another registered username at Wikipedia? You may only have one account and registered membership. You should ask an admin to assist you.--Mark Miller (talk) 22:41, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Right you are, it's been a while since I've done editing regularly and presumed my old account would expire like so many do on the web but just managed to find it and login so I will retire this account and just use the former one. Thanks for your advice! Mrabray (talk) 23:06, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
I will ask for admin assistance. You were upfront and honest about having a second account so you are not a sock puppet. The admin can decide whether or not administrative tools are needed such as blocking one or the other account or maybe merging the two (which I am not even sure is possible). This is the best route to avoid being blocked.--Mark Miller (talk) 23:13, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Drmies: could you assist user Mrabray with this secondary account that was created by the user ten years after their last edit?--Mark Miller (talk) 23:15, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, your assistance is very welcome! My old account was mattbray and admin assistance would be best since I can't work out whether I should consider this a clean start or link the two and retire one or the other? Mrabray (talk) 23:18, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Mrabray, tell me what you want to do. If you like the old username, keep it. It's up to you. What you can do is simply put a note on the old user page pointing to the new account, and a note on your new user page pointing to the old, and I can just block the old one. It's note a matter of CLEANSTART since you got nothing that's dirty, so to speak. Does that make sense? Drmies (talk) 03:06, 28 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Drmies - is there a required format or template for the notes "on the old user page pointing to the new account" and "on your new user page pointing to the old"? I'll do just that, block the old one and point to the new one Mrabray (talk) 04:59, 28 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Meh, doesn't really matter. I just made an edit to your user pages, both of them--that's good enough, as far as I'm concerned. Let me know if that's OK. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 05:38, 28 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Alright then! I'll go and block the old one. Have fun with the new one, and welcome back: we appreciate your expertise. Hey--you're from Fiji? Can I please come and see it? PLEASE PLEASE... I want to see the stars and feel the Pacific. Drmies (talk) 05:45, 28 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
