Proposed deletion of Jerry Della Salla

edit

Hello, Mojo4212. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Jerry Della Salla, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Travelbird (talk) 05:08, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jerry Della Salla, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Rehearsal. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

License tagging for File:GZPremiere-007.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:GZPremiere-007.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:05, 9 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Jerry Della Salla

edit

Mojo4212, would I be right in presuming you might have a conflict of interest with respect to the Jerry Della Salla article arising out of, how shall I say this, a close connection with the subject? If so, please be aware of WP:COI and consider whether you might wish to disengage from editing the article and instead suggest changes to its talk page. I am inclined to edit and prune the article, which reads to me as an over-promotion of the subject - particularly for the many run-on sentences which describe attributes of the company, film, &c rather than describing attributes of the individual. I'm also a little concerned about the completely unreferenced elements of the biography - might you perhaps be able to point to some sources for the Early Years section? Should you have any images to which you own the copyright, I'd be happy to help you get them loaded so that they are not deleted. As I understand, to date, a couple of images have been deleted for having no copyright tags; one of these was, I think, found to be the copyright of a third party and thus presumed loaded to wikipedia without evidence of his permission. We try hard to make sure we have the right to display the images we use, and as a result, we do police image uploads as hard as we can, which can make things hard for a new user. thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 13:10, 16 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for your assistance in trying to help Tagishsimon. I don't know how to submit things that would prove my complete ownership of some of the photos I've recently submitted, other than saying it's from MY own camera. They're from events that I was a part of during the festival circuit as an actor a few years back and wanted to make sure that this copyright issue wouldn't be a problem when I submitted to you guys. But if there is something else I need to do to prove that, I'd like to know. I understand that I could have a few run on sentences as you mention, and would welcome any edits that might clear that up. Hopefully in the process though you won't lose anything.

The GZP3 photo is certainly not mine, and I never intended to load it up as such, but would like to add that there has been a copyright tag attached I believe so if that is enough maybe you can load that up with such? (John Spellman is the rightful owner to that photo). Either way, I just really want ONE Photo if possible loaded up- this would help as I market myself with the page. I AM a decorated combat veteran, so if any material is needed to prove THAT I can certainly do so. I just don't know how? Thanks again for responding-

I can see traces of two images, neither of which are any longer on Wikipedia: File:GZP-003.jpg and GZPremiere-007.jpg. If I understand correctly, File:GZP-003.jpg is the John Spellman photo - we would need to get a release from him. If GZPremiere-007.jpg is your photo then there should not be a problem with adding it again.
I think for the purposes of copyright, a photo you took yourself is clearly your copyright. A photo taken by someone else is someone else's copyright. But I think there's a reasonable case that if you hand your camera to someone and say "take a photo of me", that's as good as a work-for-hire in which it seems reasonable to me that you can claim a copyright in the image.
So. Presuming you have such an image, you need to a) upload it again and b) decide how you are going to licence its use and specify the licence on the image page using an appropriate copyright/licence tag. If you're placing the photo in the public domain, then {{PD-self}} is appropriate. If under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike - the licence under which the majority of wikipedia sails - then {{cc-by-4.0}}. Unless someone haggles about the "if you're in the photo then you cannot have taken it", we should be good.
You can upload images on which other hold copyright, but only if you're able to get the copyright holder to communicate with wikipedia that they're happy to licence the image.
So. I hope that helps somewhat. I'm watching your talk page and happy to give additional help; also to look at an upload once you've made it to opine on whether all looks well ... posting something on this page will alert me. best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:09, 16 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks again Tagishsimon- I just tried to follow, almost to the Letter, your directions on uploading again a photo under the creative commons and just don't know why it's not available or showing up. It was NOT this hard initially when I loaded up the GZ photo, before it got taken down. HELP? Lol- no really, what am I doing wrong? Can you look at the submission from my end and tell me maybe how to do it properly. It was for a photo titled RFN-jpeg01. Thank you sir-
