 Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~), be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 14:39, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion edit

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you.--CreecregofLife (talk) 18:13, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Are you also Mohit? It's a conflict of interest because you are an involved party to the subject--CreecregofLife (talk) 18:20, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes I am Mohit . Conflict of interest with whom .???My son is a child actor and is 11 year old . I am trying to create wiki page for him . He is too small to create for himself 110.226.136.248 (talk) 18:22, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Exactly, you're doing it on his behalf. Wikipedia is not an autobiography reserve, it's an encyclopedia. Please read the COI policy linked in my initial message. And log into your account--CreecregofLife (talk) 18:30, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Mohitkapahi20: Please be aware that only notable topics are considered for inclusion, as Wikipedia defines notability. In the case of an actor, the individual must meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for entertainers; and also if someone is currently alive, it must conform to Wikipedia's strict policy on biographies of living persons.

Readers must be able to verify that any of the information within Wikipedia articles is not just made up. This means all material must be attributable to reliable and independent published sources. Here is an example of a source that would meet both of these requirements: https://www.dailyexcelsior.com/sheehan-shines-on-idiot-box/

Interviews are considered primary sources; they can verify certain facts, but lack the independence to establish notability. Similarly sites with other user-generated content (such as social media sites, blogs, message boards and even the IMDb) are defined as self-published sources and therefore neither reliable nor independent. In addition, unpublished personal knowledge or experience (referred to as original research) is not allowed because it is unverifiable.

Finally, someone with a personal connection to a subject has an inherent conflict of interest. This makes it difficult for you to write from the required neutral point of view, use only information taken from reliable sources and avoid original research. We also tell editors that an article about you (or someone close to you) isn't necessarily a good thing. If such an article is accepted, you will have no right of ownership or control over its content. Other editors acting in good faith (which we always assume unless there is clear evidence to the contrary) can edit it at any time. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:25, 28 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
