Request for edit summary edit

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 37% for major edits and 31% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 05:02, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Question on AfD edit

Hello Mitsukai,

Noticing that you are active in the Articles for Deletion I was hoping you could give me some guidance as I am new to Wikipedia -- it seems a bit overwhelming.

A particular article on Crissy Doll is the subject here. I was considering editing it when I saw it, but decided to go and read the many FAQ pages and rules at Wikipedia when I discovered that the article may in violation of the rules.

If you look at the article only one publishing reference and one link are provided and both of these point back to the article's author, a Beth Colvin (Gunther) who wrote a Crissy Doll book and publishes a website about the Crissy Doll.

Would this be like using the Wikipedia as a soapbox to promote their own self-published book and draw attention to their website?

It is also noted that although other publications exist concerning the Ideal Crissy Doll this User has chosen to not list them – only their own works. Please correct me if you think this alarm is in error – I am just a newbie but I did at least attempt to learn some of the ground rules before editing an article.

If you feel the article should be deleted I would like to know and what you feel the grounds for deletion are. Thanks!

i'm sorry, i was not trying to be a vandal. and maybe you should give me the benefit of the doubt. i am sincerely interested in the information on magatama and have been unable to find any english source. thus far, i have only been able to find that they are contemperaneous with those found in korea, none espcially from late jomon etc. http://www.metmuseum.org/explore/publications/pdfs/korea/EntireBook.pdf for example.

also, there is a bias with many here who try to minimize altogether any korean transmission of art etc. to japan, espcially in kofun and yayoi/yamato periods where the archaeological evidence is undeniable.

i didn't think what i wrote was nonsense per se. however, i was unable to verify the "origins" part of the article so i tried to express that.

if you could send me a link i would really appreciate

it was all in good faith, i promise.

secondly, i will get an account. but if you read all i've written, i have cited to numerous credible websites each time so it's not like they were spur of the moment vandalisms but thought out written and cited reasons. that is not the mark of a vandal.

thirdly, what do you mean by inline quotes and references?

fourthly, the problem i had with the article is there weren't any citations. (i'm not trying to be a pain but is there any citations for magatama because i do want to read them?)

finally, i'm don't want to get into this if you don't but your charges of "pro-korean POV" is not true. the wikipedia NPOV article says one can "include all different significant theories on all different topics". there are many articles in the history of japan where the views of credible western and korean and some japanese are supressed or deleted in favor of more nationalistic interpretations. and the numerous deletions by other users is deliberate information suprression or censor ship and a point of view in and of themselves. (examples: japanese paleolithic dating to 100,000 bce, use of outdated quotes in the Jomon section, the continual use of "korean peninsula" or "continent" while the use of "japan" is fine, etc.)

i don't think articles are made better by minimizing a korean-japanese connection when the two states had such a huge connection from approximately 400 bce to approximately 600 ce. i think adding that kind of information makes an article better. just because the article is a "japanese" article doesn't mean that the context of the information means only japanese information should be contained, i think. otherwise, many articles would have to have a version for each theory presented. people like jared diamond (in the yayoi article) are credible and respectable and to say a pro-korean POV is not fair.

i would be interested to hear your perspective. thanks.

got an account

thanks for the welcome edit

hi, thanks again for the help. but i think i've definitely been citing multiple cites with by doing this [website] which were deleted regardless multiple times. can we talk about my other concerns? thanks again

disapointed edit

hi, i took the time to write out my concerns.

you typed back that i should get an account. which i promptly did.

then, the only response you sent was how to quote from cites, which i already knew how to do, as you could have found out by checking my history when you characterized me as a "vandal" and what i wrote as "nonsense."

i didn't think you made it clear that this would be the end of our conversation, but it tnat was what you intendend, i would have appreciated you telling me, as a matter of common courtesy, so i didn't spend time waiting for a response.

anyways, again, i would like to hear you perspective as to the other topics that i typed in order that i might better understand your position.

Image:Fpmchair.jpg edit

I noticed that this image doesn't have a source URL or any tags on it. I know it's almost a year ago since the last revision (in which you removed the {{fairuse}} template), but I thought I should point it out to you before someone finds it and deletes it. --Closedmouth 04:14, 27 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please look at this page edit

If you are a supporter of Don Bosco, take a look at this page.

Re: Crissy Doll edit

Agreed...I see in the history a couple of entries where Users placed the wikifiy tag but still not knowing much about that I cant be sure if anything was done or retained. But I do know of several more sources, published and online that could be added to the article to enrich it. I just need to study some other articles and prepare before editing. Thanks much and I will be in touch.

Crissy Doll edit edit

Hi Mitsukai - I created a new User page to use as a sandbox this is it SGC_01 if you have time check it out and tell me what you think before I go "live" with it. Thanks!

JC Williams edit

hey man.

I saw that the article on JC Williams has a problem with it.

I don't really understand the tag, but if you explain it I can rewrite it or fix it up to Wiki standards.

Thanks,

JC

Thanks. edit

Just wanted to say thanks for the help and advice, and especially that quickly.

Thank you,

JC

Moved page... edit

Oh thanks for moving it - and I thought I was doing it right :0

It takes a while to catch on to things here!

stub articles for dolls edit

I noticed there are not a whole lot of doll articles and thinking about starting some stubs...but there is not a stub-catagory for "dolls"

If I create some doll articles as stubs will they just show up under the general stub catagory until they grow into bigger and better works? Or in other words, is just putting the stub tag in the short article the proper thing to do?

And...how/where to Start an new article/stub?? Can I just create a new user page and then move it? Or? thanks!

starting new articles or stubs edit

I see what you mean - but is it permissible to just put the Catagory=Dolls tag at the bottom so the stub gets picked up in a search for that catagory?

And here is probably (a dumb question) how do you start a new article/stub for instance on the Tammy Doll so that when somebody searches Tammy Doll, your stub is in the results? Never mind I figured this part out I think. Sgc0513 20:45, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion and advertising edit

Thanks for helping clean up new pages. At this point in time, advertising is not a valid criterion for speedy deletion. Another good process for these problem pages is to tag them for proposed deletion, which is a relatively new process halfway between speedy deletions and AFD. Just tag the article with {{prod|give a short reason}} and it'll be gone in 5 days unless someone contests the deletion. (ESkog)(Talk) 03:38, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

wiktionary tag edit

Can we do something with the wiktionary tag on kami? It looks strange where it is (above the picture). Is even really needed? I mean, the first few sentences of the article define "kami". MikeDockery 17:47, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Actually, the definition is ambigous for quite a while in the article, so I can see why the wikitionary tag might be helpful...although, when I looked at the wiktionary page it wasn't really all that helpful...but, anyway, can we move it? MikeDockery 17:53, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Cool. (^_^)b I just don't like the way it looks up there. MikeDockery 18:02, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was curious as to what is your nationality and why you like Japan so much.

Manga edit

You voted for Manga to be the comics collaboration of the month and it has been selected! Let's knock this article into shape. Remember, to make it to featured article status, it will need to be well referenced. ike9898 14:44, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit titles of articles or stubs edit

Hi Mitsukai,

See this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizzie_lizzie

When I created this stub I used the Search/ Create article method and got a small "l" on the Lizzie. Is there a way to change it to large case L ?? The title of the article/stub is not on the edit page... Thanks! Sgc0513 23:16, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Boy... you are fast! edit

American eh? edit

Well, you say you're American, buts thats not too descriptive, what country are your ancestors originally from before you came to American? When I hear American, I think of native americans, not europeans as they like to call themselves americans.

Hi again edit

Okay, thanks a lot for your messages, I'm just a real curious guy is all, not a stalker or anything like that, haha! Yeah, I guess I place more emphasis on ancestry than nationality. : ) Yeah, I also perfer American smileys over Japanese ones, they aren't bad but I'm getting so tired of seeing ^___^ : )everywhere. : ) Anyways, nice talking to you! : )

Splinter groups edit

I redirected those pages, including the prod one. I agree; they are not notable enough to warrent their own articles (God knows why I created them three months ago, heh...). Deckiller 19:16, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

ZeroC edit

I'm not sure if ZeroC employing Michi Henning is "stunt casting" in your sense of the word... He's chief technologist there, and is one of a bunch of core CORBA people that work there (see http://www.zeroc.com/about.html). If we agree that ICE is notable (I'm pretty sure it is, given the ACM article and the fact that it's well known and gets a bunch of Google hits), then Michi Henning + ICE would in my opinion be enough to make ZeroC notable. (Michi Henning is definitely notable, although he doesn't have an article on WP, for some weird reason). ICE is one of the top middleware/RPC solutions, and is getting quite a bit of buzz from people like Miguel de Icaza and the Mono project in general. ZeroC also gets a bunch of Google hits, more than 60,000, it seems.

I just figure it should have an article. If not, the info should probably be folded into the ICE article, and the ZeroC article should be a redirect. As for it being advertising, I wrote the original article, and I'm in no way associated with ZeroC. I've read some of their docs, as I was thinking about using ICE in a project of mine, but that's all.

The Midway Sightings (TM) UFO Phenomenon edit

I reverted your cahnge to The Midway Sightings (TM) UFO Phenomenon. I am an admin and choose not to speedy it because it didn't seem to be speedyable material to me. So I put it up for proposed deletion instead. You are welcome to nominate it for speedy deletion if you think it is worthy, but please leave the proposed deletion there so that it is deleted even if an admin decides not to speedy it.

PS. You failed to correctly add the speedy tag, and advertising is not one of the Speedy deletion criteria. --Martyman-(talk) 02:44, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Edits to Amerime edit

My post is the truth, easily verifiable, and thereby is not vandalism. The company Americanime Productions is located in Boston and is currently releasing comic-books/manga with the unique style of Americanime, a manga/comic blend, in the US, Canada, and UK. There has been press done on the company on such sites as Newsarama.com, ComicBookResources.com, IndyComicReview.com, and others. The titles are visible and available on comic-books store shelves across North America through Diamond Comic Distributors, and online at the Americanime Productions website alongside numerous online comics stores.

Re: Edits to Amerime edit

Greetings. What you suggested I had actually done after the post had been removed figuring as such. I would appreciate any feedback and/or guidance you could provide on how to put up an informational post on Americanime Productions without violating the rules.

I noticed you are an aspiring manga artist, specifically in the Americanime genre. I would be interested to see your art and would be happy to discuss the style and industry.

Posting Options edit

I have a question in regards to the posting of articles. Is there a venue to find people to hire or are who are willing to collaborate to put up an article? It looks as though a considerable amount of time could be invested and thus delegation would be the best route if the option is there.

Americanime edit

I would like to discuss the various topics you had mentioned! Email would be best and more direct, I can be contacted at Michael@Americanimeproductions.com and will respond through my personal address.

Anime Iowa edit

Anime Iowa is the largest convention. It is larger and been runing longer than Nebraskon so I thought adding it would be alright. sorry for any misunderstanding and I was kind of rushed when I made the AnimeIowa entry but hope to expand it soon.

Doesn't commenting out conventions in the List_of_anime_conventions go against the idea of a wiki? The information listed in those comments is still useful and it might inspire somone to add information about the conventions.

Creating a Listing edit

Hello Again! I am still very interested in sending you the info if you would be interested and willing to put up a post for Americanime Productions if the info is provided to you. If so, please let me know and I will compile the information in an objective fashion more conducive to a listing.

Thanks,

       Michael Westerman

List of anime conventions revert edit

Noticed you reverted the change by user Neclimdul regarding Texas conventions OniCon and AnimeFEST. Both meet the 2-2-3 requirements for inclusion. Echocharlie

I'm recusing myself from being listed an editor on the page because of a potential conflict of interest. Though I'll be happy to chime in with facts when needed. Echocharlie 20:42, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

FYI'ing you on this because you tagged the original author for clarification.

I'm blanking the article as a copyvio. The text is lyrics from the final song from the operetta Candide (operetta), which was created by Leonard Bernstein in 1956 and thus is still under copyright.--み使い Mitsukai 18:10, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Oh! I looked at Candide but that was in the 18th Century by Voltaire. That copyright would have expired. Bernstein's 1956 copyright, of course, hasn't expired. I tried not to bite the newbie but it was prodded and I didn't know how to fix it. Thank you for the note.

Invitation edit

Please come over to my test page and see what you think. It's really rough right now, but I think we could do something with it to make all the Japan-related articles better, as well as better coordinate everyone's efforts. --日本穣 05:15, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Userbox for Wikiproject edit

I just wanted to let you know about {{User Album}}--Esprit15d 18:46, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mitsukai,

I noticed that you removed my link to Rock Gods of Rock (http://channel101.com/shows/show.php?show_id=153) from the Amerime article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amerime). Your edit comment said it was unrelated. But if you watch the show, you will realize that it is an American spoof of anime, made in a (mock) anime style. Wouldn't this mean that it is amerime?

Thanks,

Zoide

Holi edit

Mitsukai, would it be possible to remove the "merge articles" header from this article?

I personally had never heard of Holi, but now that I have, it seems both irrelevant and disrespectful to lump events of political or social violence into articles on the religious practices of others. (The examples I give in the talk page are the Easter Rising and the Tet offensive. Why, for instance, should an article discussing a festival celebrating Christ's rising from the dead and the Easter bunny :) be amalgamated with an article about a political uprising in Ireland?)

The merger tag is rather unsightly and unless there are good grounds for going ahead with the merger, I propose that it should be removed as soon as possible.

Fate/Stay Night Seiyū Info edit

Just curious... why did you get rid of the Seiyū information from the main page? Does it have something to do with the fact that the page itself is dealing more about the game than the anime? If so, does that mean later an FSN (TV) page should be created in the future? Mirioki 23:20, 6 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

You're right. The page looks a lot cleaner without the Seiyū cluttering it up. I tried to find a way to include Seiyū information on the main page and ended up having to renovate the entire page. Also, the page is for FSN in general, so Seiyū information might be a bit misleading to some who don't know that the FSN game has no voice acting. Thanks for the edit! ^_^ Mirioki 04:51, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lunar Anime edit

People are trying to delete Lunar Anime again, again on the basis of notability and self-promotion. If they had issues with copyrights, I'd try to argue about my view but wouldn't mind that much if the article was deleted, but I have a real problem with people trying to delete an article on the basis of notability, without knowing anything on the subject of the article (by that I mean anime in general, none of those users who voted delete seem to be interested in anime). Please review the case (don't mind if you vote delete too, as long as you provide a basis). By the way, I'm in the process of the re-writing the Lunar Anime article now to be more encyclopedic. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 12:48, 7 April 2006 (UTC) P.S. Sorry I haven't had a chance to work on that barnstar image yet, I'll try to do it this weekend or next time I'm home.Reply

Go see an interesting revision... edit

Hi Mitsukai,

A revision was made to the doll article we had spoke about eariler that does not contribute to the information content of the article, just the moving around of some website links to make one more promenient than the others. Tell me what you think...does this happened often in Wikiland? =^___^=
