Papilio moves edit

Hi there, I think that some of these are now in the genus Chilasa. Please check the current placement. The subgenus entry was outdated. Shyamal (talk) 02:44, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Name the sources of your thoughts, please. I see that in article taxobox (and not only there) the genus name is Papilio. So that's problem of the zoological nomenclature. It should be solved according to ICZN. Mithril (talk) 02:45, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
In that abstract there's nothing about ranks.. Ah, no.. there is one rank in the title: genus Papilio. Mithril (talk) 02:53, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I do not dispute the existence of the subgenera. Mithril (talk) 02:55, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
The taxobox was presumably based on some outdated material. http://www.insects-online.de/frames/papilio.htm seems to have a recent overview. I think LepIndex is the source of the problem having declared Chilasa as a subjective junior synonym of Papilio. (Link) Shyamal (talk) 03:06, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
These sources do not confirm that Chilasa is a genus. Please name up-to-date source where Chilasa is literally named genus. It is not in that molecular phylogeny paper. Futhermore the term genus is applied to Papilio there. I've no doubts that in full text they do not propose to name Chilsasa a genus, do they? Mithril (talk) 03:19, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Most molecular systematics work provide information on support for monophyly and leave the actual naming to others. A search for Chilasa clytia on Google scholar shows that a fair amount of literature uses that name and that Papilio is used in an increasingly restricted sense (from Linnaeus' time a big drop for sure!) Shyamal (talk) 03:40, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
There is some more on placements here with both Chilasa and Papilio having been used as the genus for clytia and a 2002 paper using Chilasa. http://www.biology.ualberta.ca/faculty/felix_sperling/uploads/pdfs/Zakharov_et_al_Sys_Bio_04.pdf I think it would be better to indicate them as synonyms in the taxobox. Shyamal (talk) 03:13, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
To indicate Chilasa clytia or Papilio clytia? Mithril (talk) 03:20, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I mean what article name do you suggest? Mithril (talk) 03:24, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
[edit conflict] I think at least for clytia and epicydes the page can be definitely located at Chilasa with Papilio indicated as a synonym - http://sciencelinks.jp/j-east/article/200113/000020011301A0353437.php http://www.biology.ualberta.ca/faculty/felix_sperling/uploads/pdfs/Zakharov_et_al_Sys_Bio_04.pdf . Would need to spend more time to find the position of others. I think Gerardo Lamas et al. are working on a global standard list expected in the next year or so which will hopefully settle such problems. Shyamal (talk) 03:27, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
The list on http://www.insects-online.de/frames/papilio.htm I noticed is part of the work on standardization so it seems like the following are now in Chilasa Moore, [1881] . Shyamal (talk) 03:30, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Let's return to the question of undid edits. The reason of my activity was self-contradiction I found in the text. I've nothing agaist the Chilasa genus in enwiki really if the alternative position is elucidated. Would you resolve that contradiction (probably pointing some references) in the text? Mithril (talk) 04:01, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Would need time for this but maybe someone else would take it up if informed on WT:LEPID. For the moment, I have nothing against leaving it wherever it is (Chilasa or Papilio) either. Shyamal (talk) 04:07, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
So I would make these species Papilio with Chilasa as a synonym in taxobox. Since in Papilio I found:
"The genus Chilasa is regarded as a subgenus of Papilio by some workers, as are the Baggy-Tailed Swallowtails (Agehana), although the latter taxon is usually considered a subgenus of Chilasa." Mithril (talk) 04:19, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh, it's ambiguous. Nevertheless Papilio till you find enough time. Mithril (talk) 04:25, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Invitation edit

Hello Mithril, Thanks for the interest you have been taking in our gastropods project. In case you might maybe like to join our crew, here is an invitation for you:

 Wikiproject Gastropods
I've noticed your edits on pages relating to Gastropods; perhaps you'd be interested in joining WikiProject Gastropods?
If you would like more information, please visit the project page or the project talk page.

Very best wishes to you, Invertzoo (talk) 21:48, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

What am I supposed to do? My occurence would be rare. Mithril (talk) 13:14, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well if you are interested, you can sign up here: [Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods/Participants]. I guess you are saying that you would not contribute info on gastropods very often, so really it is up to you whether or not you feel like joining the Project. It's fine either way, really and thanks for what you have already done. Best wishes to you, Invertzoo (talk) 22:18, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! edit

Your excellent work organizing, updating, and correcting Wikipedia's coverage of our spineless friends has not gone unnoticed. Keep it up! Danger (talk) 21:42, 21 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • That is a great honour for me. Mithril (talk) 22:20, 21 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
You know, if you'd ever like to write articles, I'd be happy to "translate" them to native-sounding English (as proposed on you userpage). If you like, you could even write them in userspace and I could copy edit them before they're moved. Danger (talk) 01:38, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
It'd be wonderful. However I think the most effective for me would be posting notes to the user page after content-affecting edits. My drafts in the userspace tend to never leave it. Mithril (talk) 02:38, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Funny, mine never seem to leave userspace either. Drafts are just the stay-at-home type I guess. Anyway, just leave me a note if you want some language looked at. I have the passion for the spineless, but not the expertise, so if I can help you share yours, I'll count that as good. Danger (talk) 03:45, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Conulariida edit

I have reverted your change of category of Conulariida from Scyphozoa back to Cnidaria. The actual affinity of conularids is much debated, and even their placement in Cnidaria is tentative at best (heck, there's even researchers who want them outside Animalia!). Petter Bøckman (talk) 11:06, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

As far as I know all modern cnidariologists consider it to be a sister group to Coronatae. There's no discussion since the result of Collins and Marques (2004) has been falsified by Van Iten and coathors (including Collins and Marques) in 2006. Mithril (talk) 11:13, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
It seems you know a lot more about these animals than I do. Would you edit the Phylogeny section to bring it up to date with current knowledge? Petter Bøckman (talk) 11:23, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Of course I will. In the fullness of time.. I've noticed your reversion comment. You should know that nearly all scyphozoans do have benthic polyp stages with chitinous cuticle called periderm. The periderm may look like a minute cup enclosing only small basal part of polyp (scyphistome). However in Coronatae polyp called stephanoscyphys the periderm encloses all body except the tentacles and oral disc. Your may see it here. Mithril (talk) 11:43, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Note the ribs on the photo. These considered to be homologous to ribs of Conulata fossils. Mithril (talk) 11:45, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Collaboration edit

Hello there. I read your userpage. If you're interested in collaborating, I would be happy to join you. Here are some images needing articles: Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images I like species articles a lot. If you like those or have other topics in mind, please suggest them. Let me know if you're interested. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:55, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you edit

Thank you for adding the category to the article I began, Oceaniidae. I hope to improve it more...

Reflinks edit

Thanks for running it on that article. Reflinks is blocked for me here in China. So, if you are willing, please see the bottom of User:Anna Frodesiak under show/general articles last items. There are often new species articles there that really need reflinks. Many thanks if you can help. If you don't wish to, no worries at all. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:51, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

5,10-methenyltetrahydrofolate synthetase deficiency edit

Hi! Why is there no Russian interwiki visible for 5,10-methenyltetrahydrofolate synthetase deficiency? Will it appear after awhile, or should something be done to make it appear? --CopperKettle 09:38, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
