Jurist

"Jurist" implies legal academic scholarship. Absent indications of this, it is best to avoid using this to describe a person. For members of the judiciary, the more easily recognizable term for readers would be "judge". bd2412 T 02:23, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Apologies for the error. I'll try to fix this if I have time. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 02:57, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
No worries. The drafts are still just drafts. Christmas Cheers! bd2412 T 03:07, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Page Mana Ayukawa should not be deleted - explanation

Related to Wikipedia source Most wanted articles, I found in that list Mana Ayukawa what was mentioned 89 times in various sources, thus I decided to start writing her biography, spending 2 hours for research, because are not so many sources on the internet about her, but she is considered and she is really a famous tennis player, about whom I consider should be written in Wikipedia. For me doesn't matter will be this article deleted or not, I only want to contribute to Wikipedia and make all possible for this. Hope I explain the reason why we should improve this page and do not delete. All the best! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trymemore (talkcontribs) 06:20, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

Just because it has 89 links in Wikipedia does not make one notable. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 01:31, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

French Europoliticians

Thanks for all your stubs. Great to have them all on Wikipedia. Let's hope someone will come along and flush them out a bit.--Ipigott (talk) 14:08, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

@Ipigott: It was very great. I'm gonna go create the rest of the other MEPs in the other countries. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 21:57, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

MEPs

Hi! I see you are making the articles/stubs of MEPs. It's okay but can you please at least check if a given MEP was already a member? Examples: Asim Ademov, Geoffroy Didier, Eleonora Evi, Javi López Fernández. You can look after them on the website of the EP, as the 8th term ends this month. :-) Thanks, Cassandro (talk) 06:35, 10 June 2019 (UTC)

Sockpuppets

There's very little point to reporting sockpuppets who are already blocked, except for chewing up 10 minutes of my time dealing with the reports. Cabayi (talk) 17:30, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

@Cabayi: My bad. Even though my evidence linking two sockpuppeteers seemed legit to me, at the end of the day I seem to have overreacted. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 17:32, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
In Special:Preferences under the gadgets tab is an option ("Strike out usernames that have been blocked") to mark users who have been blocked so you can see them more easily. The Navigation popups gadget also shows them when you hover over the username (if it's linked). Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 17:37, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
@Cabayi: Done. I went on the page and it seems to be working. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 17:38, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

dan hicks AND HIS HOT LICKS

The article's about Hicks. I think you position is pedantic, hardly worth even the time spent typing this. Tapered (talk) 00:29, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

@Tapered: While the article is about the singer, I reverted the edit because the NYT article mentioned the band's entire name and there is no enwiki article about the band. So why not consider creating an article about that band instead? FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 00:32, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
I think more development about the band in this article, especially a Singles discography, would be at least as good. It was Hicks' only real 'big-time' achievement. There is an article on violinist Sid Page, but Hicks wrote the songs, was driving force, and broke it up all by himself. That's my point.
E voila! I'm going to rephrase the sentence to something like, "his recordings with the Hot Licks." Tapered (talk) 00:45, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
@Tapered: Thank you. Now if you need me, I'm gonna be very busy with something. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 00:46, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

Date formats

Hello, thanks for your edits about the 2008 Universal fire. However, date formats in refs should be the same as those in articles; for example, I've made this edit to your change on the Benny Goodman article, and I've also made a similar change at Joni Mitchell. Graham87 02:42, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

@Graham87: You're welcome. I use an assembly-line method for many of my edit projects, so things can be a little off. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 02:43, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

Assembly Line Editing Style

How about slowing down your assembly line and take the time to get things right so other editors don't have to go behind you and clean up your messes.

Thank you very kindly 2600:1700:3BC0:E70:D5A9:D14C:85A9:CBF7 (talk) 13:54, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

{{re|2600:1700:3BC0:E70:D5A9:D14C:85A9:CBF7]} You're welcome. I made several of the edits before someone informed me of the mistake.

In addition to the date format being incorrect for articles that use the d/m/y style of date, you keep referring to 'material' being destroyed. 'Material' is commonly understood (and is defined as such in the dictionary) as compositions/songs/repertoire. What was destroyed in the fire was tapes, i.e. specific recordings of that material. Dubmill (talk) 11:46, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Universal fire

Hello - I saw you were adding information about the Universal fire to the pages of artists who had been affected by it. Did you happen to notice any artists mentioned by Rosen that did not have articles on Wikipedia? I may be interested in writing articles for them if so. Chubbles (talk) 14:28, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

@Chubbles: There are twelve of them (some of them might have articles but I didn't bother to disambig them):
  • Jimmy Anderson
  • Don Bennett
  • Don Cherry
  • Colours
  • Crazy Otto
  • Richard Davis
  • Paul Evans
  • Beverly Jenkins
  • Vega Brothers
  • Michael White
  • Whycliffe
  • Walter Winchell
Hope this is useful. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 16:25, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Hey there. At a recent AfD (can't remember exactly which one), you voted keep due to the person having medalled at an Universiade. Can you point me to the specific area of that SNG where it says that about Universiades? I can't find it. Thanks. I do a bit of reviewing, and that would help a lot. Thanks for the heads up

You and Bearcat notified me concerned the Abbie Hodgson AfD that any editor can only vote once in an AfD. I didn't know what the rules were, had no intent of "double voting," and had only seen others do so, so didn't realize it was a problem. I will respond to comments without voting. Also, I have seen others who changed their votes. I presume that is acceptable (I've never had occasion to do so) but I expect that might require going back to manually change the original vote without voting again in the opposite way. Is that the convention, or do you know? Thanks. Activist (talk) 18:39, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

AfD Protocol

Hi, I noticed that you nominated a number of fictional character articles for AfD in good faith. However, you should be aware of certain procedures for AfD that you neglected to do, that would make things much easier for AfD commenters.

First of all, if characters have the same issue and are in the same series, a WP:MULTIAFD must be used. This prevents people from having to copy paste the same vote, and argue the same thing over many different AfD pages.

Also, a rationale needs to be included even if it was already stated in a PROD. Preferably something a bit more detailed than "it's just not notable", like "I searched for sources and came up with nothing".

It would be helpful if you addressed that for your current nominations as well, not sure what the procedure is, but perhaps speedy delete all the deletion pages besides one.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 12:23, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
