Speedy deletion of Mark Steffanich edit

A tag has been placed on Mark Steffanich requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Ros0709 (talk) 11:38, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of 56th Special Warfare Squadron edit

A tag has been placed on 56th Special Warfare Squadron, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

AfD nomination of 56th Special Warfare Squadron edit

I have nominated 56th Special Warfare Squadron, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/56th Special Warfare Squadron. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Special Boat Service edit

Hi Mike

I removed your critical statements from this article because there didn't seem to be any references to back them up. I searched for anything to back them up, but I found only a single website, which itself didn't cite any reputable sources (and from which the original comments seem to have been taken almost verbatim). Can I suggest finding reliable sources to back up the allegations before putting them in the article, please? DJ Clayworth (talk) 15:18, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Also, please remember the article is about an american unit, so if possible try to keep with american spellings or at least stop reverting my edits when I try to fix them.

Proposed deletion of Egyptian Navy SEALs edit

The article Egyptian Navy SEALs has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not referenced, references impossible to find due to thenature of the organisation

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 18:16, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Nomination of Special Operations Forces Tier System for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Special Operations Forces Tier System is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Special Operations Forces Tier System until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Taelus (talk) 23:01, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

The reason for nomination is as follows:
Procedural nomination. Was nominated for deletion via a prod, but this article has previously had a prod contested making it ineligible for this deletion system. Listing it here using the rationale given within the ::most recent proposed deletion:
"The U.S. military does not have a tier system for special operations forces. The article is based on "perceived eliteness" created by journalists to try to classify these units. Several sources are conflicting as to ::classifications lower than Tier One. The only definite metric for units is acceptance rates, but even that does not denote a tier system-- none exists." --By User:70.91.70.193
Hope this helps, --Taelus (talk) 23:03, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
