Proposed deletion of Chevelle demo edit

The article Chevelle demo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Demos are not notable without substantial coverage in independent reliable sources. None provided, none found.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Template and years edit

We only use the years when distinguishing between films with like titles. Putting the year for every film is just useless clutter. The reader can easily click the film title and see the year. The other cases, we're trying to make it clear that it isn't an error when you see two films in the template with the same name.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:50, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

National-detail articles and exit lists edit

Exit lists don't belong on the national detail articles, like U.S. Route 90. They belong on state-detail articles, like a future U.S. Route 90 in Texas, and then that article should have all of the major intersections, not just the freeway segments. Imzadi 1979  00:13, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notability of songs edit

I notice you have a habit of creating or re-creating Wikipedia articles for songs by heavy metal bands. You should familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's notability policies before doing so, as few of the articles you've created pass the set criteria. The following is from Wikipedia's general notability guideline which no articles are exempt:

If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list.

  • "Significant coverage" means that sources address the subject directly in detail, so no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention but it need not be the main topic of the source material.
  • "Reliable" means sources need editorial integrity to allow verifiable evaluation of notability, per the reliable source guideline. Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media, and in any language. Availability of secondary sources covering the subject is a good test for notability.
  • "Sources", for notability purposes, should be secondary sources, as those provide the most objective evidence of notability. The number and nature of reliable sources needed varies depending on the depth of coverage and quality of the sources. Multiple sources are generally expected. Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability.
  • "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by those affiliated with the subject including (but not limited to): self-publicity, advertising, self-published material by the subject, autobiographies, press releases, etc.
  • "Presumed" means that significant coverage in reliable sources establishes a presumption, not a guarantee, that a subject is suitable for inclusion. Editors may reach a consensus that although a topic meets this criterion, it is not appropriate for a stand-alone article. For example, such an article may violate what Wikipedia is not.

And this one is from WP:NMUSIC, a notability guideline tailored specifically to music-related topics:

Most songs do not rise to notability for an independent article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for the songwriter, a prominent album or for the artist who prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been independently released as a recording by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable. Notability aside, a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album.

If an article for any song on Wikipedia does not pass these guidelines, editors will generally redirect the song back to the parent album or artist's page. These articles were redirected for a purpose, so please do not continue to undo edits that set up a redirect for this purpose. Thank you. Fezmar9 (talk) 15:20, 24 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Junction list mileage edit

Hi, I'm working on creating an article for U.S. Route 77 in Texas and I was just wondering where you got the mileage numbers for the junction list in U.S. Route 90 in Texas. I would eventually like the article to be a GA or FA so I don't really want to use Google Maps... thanks, Theking17825 22:15, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just since I'm assuming you don't already know. SputnikMusic reviews can only be placed as reviews in the articles for albums if they are professional. A few helpful hints on highway articles edit

  • Section headings in an article are written in Sentence case, not Title Case. In other words, "Route description" and "Junction list" only have their first words capitalized per MOS:HEAD.
  • You should use {{jct}} for all junctions in the infobox or junction list where applicable. The template keeps the graphics and formatting updated against any future changes. Years ago now, we updated jct to use the |alt=|link= syntax on the graphics per WP:ALT. If you need to manually code a junction for some reason, you should be aware of that and add the |alt=|link= syntax manuallly. (Usually the only time that's needed is the rare cases where more than four highways are needed.)
  • When dealing with highway names or abbreviations, any internal spaces in the names should be entered as a non-breaking space. This means that if "Loop 335" falls at or near the end of a line, the "Loop" portion won't appear at the end of one line, and the "335" portion won't appear at the beginning of the next line. You can enter a non-breaking space by typing out   in the edit window where the space would be. Remember that our readers use a variety of screen widths between smartphones and computer monitors, so we can't assume that a highway name will never be near the end of a line. The same advice goes for exit numbers and other things as well.
    • A second note about abbreviations, but the first time a highway of each type is used, the full name should be spelled out in the prose with the abbreviation afterwards in parentheses. In other words, the first time a State Highway is mentioned, spell out "State Highway 136 (SH 136)" so that the reader will get the abbreviation convention. The same would go for Interstates, US Highways, Farm to Market/Ranch to Market roads, etc. Not all of our readers are Americans, Texans nor roadgeeks that would know what "FM" in an abbreviation means.
  • On Texas State Highway Loop 335, I converted the junction list to use {{jcttop}}/{{jctint}}/{{jctbtm}} which has a few benefits:
    • The mile column is displayed per MOS:RJL. (That column will need to be filled in at some point.)
    • The headers to the table get proper coding for accessibility with screen readers per MOS:ACCESS.
    • The article is "future-proofed" against an upcoming change. Once done, the templates will generate two distance columns, one for the given miles, but also one for kilometers using automatically converted values. Until then though, the jctbtm-generated table footer is required so that non-American readers can convert the mileages (when added) to metric, per MOS:CONVERSIONS.

Now, all of these are minor items. The article was in good shape, but it could use a few small changes to be better. Keep up the good work! Imzadi 1979  01:12, 18 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the pointers. That was the second article I created (first being L.L. Tisdale Parkway). I'm new at this thing as I usually edit articles that have already been made. I will keep these things in mind for future articles. Mes tex (talk) 02:45, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Like I said, it's all minor stuff, so welcome aboard! I just found that once I learned some of these tricks, it was easier to remember to do them from the start as part of my regular editing than try to do it later if I get an article ready for review at WP:GAN or WP:FAC. If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. New junction or exit list tables edit

I've noticed lately that you have been adding tables to some articles, and that is certainly appreciated. Something that would also be appreciated is if you used the templates to create them instead of manually coding them. There are several advantages to this, chiefly that someone else doesn't have to come after and convert them. The USRD project has a goal to eventually have every article's table using the templates, which is why we are tracking the conversion status using |needs-jctint= in the talk page banner. Additionally:

  • Using the templates creates a uniform and consistent appearance to the formatting. Each table will comply with the basic requirements of MOS:RJL, the Manual of Style page on "road junction lists".
  • Using the templates "future proofs" articles against most changes to MOS:RJL.
    • As a formatting change is made in the MOS, we can edit the template coding once and have thousands of articles automatically in response.
    • For some changes that require updates to the template coding in the articles, a bot or an editor with AWB can quickly edit the articles' templates to complete the change.
  • Using the templates simplifies compliance with MOS:DTT, the MOS page on accessibility in "data tables". {{jcttop}} has a bunch of code in it that not only creates the header to the table, but it also provides instructions on how the table is formatted so that screen readers can more efficiently read a junction list table to the blind. {{jctint}}, or the state-specific templates like {{TXint}}, contain additional coding that builds on this for each row of the table.
  • Using the templates creates a column for the mileposts, and converts those distances into metric for the convenience of non-American readers as required by MOS:CONVERSIONS. If the miles are left blank at creation, the presence of the empty column will prompt future editors to insert them, but omitting the column may lead editors to think such information is not needed. (It is needed for higher levels of article assessment, a goal we all should have in mind for the future.)
  • Using the templates means we can quickly color-code junction types. When the templates are used for this purpose, the colored rows have a "tooltip" that pops up to supplement the color (try hovering your cursor over a colored row in a table), and the bottom of the table contains the required legend for readers.
  • Lastly, using the templates means each cell of the table appears, which gives it a better appearance. Omitting the blank cells in the notes column just looks unpolished because the table lacks a uniform right side.

As an example, this edit converted Farm to Market Road 740 to use the templates and tagged the article as missing its mileposts. (That also puts the article in Category:Routes needing mileposts, a hidden category which allows us to track which articles need them.) Imzadi 1979  15:48, 27 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of The Paddington Frisk edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Paddington Frisk requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Discogs edit

Hello, Mex Tex! I notice that you've recently been adding information and sourcing it to Discogs, most recently (on my watchlist) this edit to The Dillinger Escape Plan discography. Discogs is very similar to Wikipedia in that any person can create an account and make a contribution—I, myself, have have made several contributions to the website. However, websites that function this way—that feature content generated by users, not staff members—are not acceptable by Wikipedia's standards. Per WP:USERGENERATED, "Anyone can create a personal web page or publish their own book, and also claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason self-published media—whether books, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, blogs, personal pages on social networking sites, Internet forum postings, or tweets—are largely not acceptable." WP:USERGENERATED also cites Internet Movie Database (IMDb) as an example, which is very similar to Discogs. Please refrain from adding Discogs or other unreliable sources of information as a reference to Wikipedia articles going forth. Doing so is nonconstructive because someone will have to come around and replace these references one day. Cheers! Fezmar9 (talk) 22:09, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Point No. 1 (song) edit

The article Point No. 1 (song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

If "The Fad" can be deleted for charting better than this on TWO charts, then this surely is not notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 18:19, 23 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Farmers Roads, etc. edit

Hi MesTex. I moved your page to :Draft because it looked clearly incomplete. I see you have retuned it to mainspace having made no changes. FYI, it still looks incomplete. I see User:Winged Blades of Godric advised you on how to structure this, some time ago. Please take the advice. >SerialNumber54129...speculates 20:27, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Serial Number 54129: there's another factor at play here: live article titles are being merged into these lists. By moving it back and forth to Draft: space, it breaks those links. In creating the initial list, Mes tex is merging stubby articles into the list and creating the structure for the remaining highways in that centurial grouping to be fleshed out. Yes, Mes tex should be working to flesh out that remaining content in due course, but by moving the list back, you have Farm to Market Road 2154 redirecting to the appropriate section of a draft instead of the appropriate section of a live article. That's just one of several items being linked from many live articles, so I'm moving the list back. Imzadi 1979  21:52, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 01:06, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

You may or may not have noticed, but I've recently been adding the following text to a large number of your redirects that have titles such as "Farm to Market Road ####": {{Redirect category shell| {{R to section}} {{R to list entry}} {{R printworthy}} }} If you could add that text yourself, as you have the edit window already open, it would save me a considerable amount of work while reviewing them. Plus, categorizing redirects is always a good thing. Thanks, and happy editing! Compassionate727 (T·C) 05:24, 22 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you! edit

  The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
You've done a lot of edits recently to Farm- and Ranch to Market Roads in Texas, both on the lists and creating the redirects. Given the similarities of these edits (due to the stub nature of the topics), this must have been absurdly boring. Kudos for doing it anyway, thank you and happy editing. June 2018 edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from List of Farm to Market Roads in Texas (2200–2299) into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Please attribute the source article by linking to that page in your edit summary. -happy5214 23:43, 30 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

RonBot (talk) 17:18, 17 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

WP:LIVESCORES edit

Please do not add scores as they happen to the 2019 Houston Texans season article. WP:LIVESCORES may be within the namespace of WikiProject Snooker, but its message applies across the board: Wikipedia is not a news ticker and we should not be updating pages until results are confirmed. I understand that there is a desire to keep people updated, but if readers want live scores, they should go to the website of the league, their favourite team or some other news site, not Wikipedia. We report things after they have happened, not as they're happening. – PeeJay 08:32, 10 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Proposed deletion of File:Work for Love.jpg edit

The file File:Work for Love.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Never used by any single release of "Work for Love" (discogs). Rather used for the European CD re-release of the album using the same name (discogs (1), discogs (2), ebay). Fails WP:NFCC.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 1 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

October 2023 edit

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
