A tag has been placed on A cat like me, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

not encyclopaedic

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pishogue (talk) 20:43, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nonsense of Over the Hedge(Ps2)Sypnosis edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Over the Hedge(Ps2)Sypnosis, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Over the Hedge(Ps2)Sypnosis provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Over the Hedge(Ps2)Sypnosis, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. Duplicate images uploaded edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Hammy the Syrian Hamster.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Carol1 019.JPG. The copy called Image:Carol1 019.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Dogs Life Hints edit

I've added a "proposed deletion" tag to Dogs Life Hints. Wikipedia is not a game guide. Marasmusine (talk) 11:13, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dogs Life Hints edit

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Dogs Life Hints, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 11:59, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

This article probably won't get saved from deletion because it's a game guide with no encyclopaedic info and there is already an encyclopaedic article on the game. You should try to add an external link to Dogs Life pointing to a non-wikipedia article that contains a game guide/cheats/FAQ etc. --Enric Naval (talk) 14:45, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, as an aside, links to other pages inside wikipedia should go under a section called "See also" and not under "External links". Don't put too many links or they will be removed per WP:EL style guideline --Enric Naval (talk) 14:45, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see that there was a link to Dogs Life Info. That sort of articles should be merged into the main article from the game, and then separated only when the main article gets too big. If you add those informations on the main article and they get deleted because they don't belong, then you can try to make a separate article, but make sure to warn on the talk page and on the edit summary that you already tried to place them on the main article and got told to put it on a separate article, thsi way your page may not get marked for deletion. the edit summary is right under the edit box where you write the page's content while editing a page --Enric Naval (talk) 14:45, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Dogs Life Info edit

I have nominated Dogs Life Info, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dogs Life Info. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. March 2008 edit

Regarding your use page, I must warn you that per WP:NOT, Wikipedia is not a blog, webspace provider or social networking site. I quote "Wikipedians have their own user pages, but they may be used only to present information relevant to working on the encyclopedia.". Your user page appears to be violating this policy. You can find networking sites like Myspace that will happily host your personal information. If you don't reword on a few days your user page to adapt it to WP:NOT, I'll have to ask an admin to look at it.

Also, I quote, "Please upload only files that are used (or will be used) in encyclopedia articles or project pages; anything else will be deleted". Your Image:Hammy_in_his_wheel.jpg image seems to be an image intended only for personal use on your user page, and it's not being used on any actual article, and you have already uploaded Image:Hammy_the_Syrian_Hamster.jpg which is already used on the Syrian hamster article. I don't oppose that you upload one personal image for your user page, but please try to use images already used on wikipedia articles. --Enric Naval (talk) 12:55, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Are there any pages where i could put my picture of Hammy in his wheel, and then it not be deleted?Melon247 (talk) 13:43, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
The Hamster article already has a photo of a syrian hamster doing a bath, maybe you can add it to the gallery, stating how hamsters need to make exercise, but you will need a better photo, since yours is very blurry, the nose is partially ocluded by the wheel, so you should try repeating until you get a better one --Enric Naval (talk) 14:24, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Try Hamster_wheel, read its talk page --Enric Naval (talk) 14:25, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I uploaded a new picture, Image:Hammy Excersising.jpg and I would like to know if this one is alright.

This one looks better. You can try to replace the one on the hamster wheel article, since it's already disputed as inadequate. Or maybe add your photo with a label of "Plastic hamster wheel", and retag the other one to "Steel hamster wheel" --Enric Naval (talk) 15:11, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lion photo edit

I uploaded the photo Image:Lion at Paignton zoo.jpg and I was wondering if I could put it on the lion page, the only problem is there was a bit of a crowd round the enclosure when I took it, so you can see some boys infront of me. I do, however, have a photo that I took when I had a chance to get to the front of the crowd, but the lion is facing the wrong way. Melon247 (talk) 20:38, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

You can use a photo editing program like irfanview [1] or Photoshop to crop the image and leave only the lion on it. P.D.: I tried to do it myself, and I got this [2] --Enric Naval (talk) 09:22, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't think i have either of those things but I used PAINT instead and I uploaded the new photo Image:Lion at zoo.jpg which looks a lot better. You can't see the lions paws now, but they were all muddy anyway because of the ground.

cool. I requested my own version to be deleted, since it was no longer necessary. --Enric Naval (talk) 09:53, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I put one of those deletion tage on the old photo, I didn't know if there was a way to instantly delete it, but it will proberably be deleted soon anyway.

ok --Enric Naval (talk) 10:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

By the way, are you and the other people who write about things on the talk pages people who created Wikipedia? Just asking. Melon247 (talk) 13:37, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Joke Pages edit

Is there a page thats made especially for Jokes? Or is there some template that I can use and make my own joke page? Melon247 (talk) 14:23, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, there isnt' any. This is a website for making an encyclopaedia, not a social place for users to make funny pages. Some users make hidden pages and wait to see if someone finds them, but that's all. If you really want to make funny stuff, then better do it somewhere else and use wikipedia only to add "serious" stuff, because if you do it at wikipedia then chances are that one day you find that all your joke pages have been deleted --Enric Naval (talk) 15:34, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'll forget about a Joke page

Pawly Pets Pic edit

I created an artical about the game Pawly Pets: My Animal Hospital but it needs a picture. I tried uploading several different pictures, but every time it came up with an error saying 'The file has become corrupt or has an incorrect extension.' What does this mean, because I don't think they become corrupt, once I used a picture that I had only just made! Melon247 (talk) 15:05, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Could you find someone to get a picture of the front cover if I can't work out what it means?

what extension does the file have? Can you open it on paint to check if it is really corrupted? have you tried opening on a image editing program, saving as a jpg and uploading the jpg? --Enric Naval (talk) 16:43, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I tried opening it in PAINT and it was fine, and no, I haven't tried that, but I can't find a photo editing program, so I'll use paint instead.

I saved it as a jpg, and still it said the same thing.

when you need help edit

you could try the {{helpme}} template for when you need help. Just put the template on your talk page with your request for help, and a volunteer will answer you --Enric Naval (talk) 14:33, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Pawly Pets Cover.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Pawly Pets Cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. {{helpme}} Are there any wiki pages on fictional books? I know theres wikibooks, but thats just for books that give you instructions on things.Melon247 (talk) 19:24, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. Are you referring to fiction novels presented in full on a wiki site? If so, then likely not, unless the novel is a work that has fallen into public domain (in which case it would be on Wikibooks if anywhere). More modern fictional works are copyrighted, which means we would not be able to produce the work in full on any of our sites. Let me know if you need more information. Puppy in my Pocket edit

Hi whoever is reading this, I remember a while ago looking for a page about Puppy in my Pocket, and it said it had been deleted by someone just because they didn't like the product! Anyhow, it doesn't come up with that anymore so I was wondering if there's some kind of special page with a list of deleted pages. Thanks Melon247 (talk) 16:32, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Only admins can see deleted pages, and I suppose that only them can see a list of deleted pages, due to the problems it could cause if the list was available to normal users. If you click on "Special pages" on the manue on the left (the last link) it lists all special pages on wikipedia. If you can't find it there, then it probably doesn't exist. --Enric Naval (talk) 17:38, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Jeremy Strong edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jeremy Strong, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. res2216firestar (talk) 18:44, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I contested the prod and added a pair of sources. Melon, I suggest that you take this website[3] and add those details to the article. This article probably also needs the list of awards here[4], the author comments from here[5], and some details from here [6], and biographical details [7], visit to a school on Kuala Lumpur [8].
If you really want to be throught with it, you can also listen to the interview made to him [9] :) Just be sure to cite the time at which the statement was made, for example 10:20 for a statement made 10 minutes and 20 seconds into the mp3.
I added the article to my watchlist, so I'll help you to write it a bit. --Enric Naval (talk) 19:48, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to have a look on the article to see if it needed any image but the problem is I have no idea what kind of bird it is. (The only other option as I see it is to upload the image and delete and reupload it if anyone knows what they are). Melon247 (talk) 16:28, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Should this be cited?" edit

Of course! That you bothered to mention it in an edit summary speaks for itself. Generally, if in doubt, cite. It's better to have an extra reference or two than to have an article peppered with rumours that nobody's sure how to confirm.

Your Sig edit

I noticed you use a template for your signature... you should read WP:SIG#NT - I'm sorry, but template signatures are forbidden. – jaksmata 13:53, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fixed my signature, I'll have to put a delete template on my sig page. Sig testing spaces aren't forbidden, are they? (As in the space in my sandbox where I create sigs) --Melon247 talk 16:38, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
No, there's no problem with keeping the testing space/sandbox. – jaksmata 18:09, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

IRC edit

{{helpme}} Is there an IRC for wikipedia that doesn't use freenode (that works on IE)? I know there's one for wikia. --Melon247 talk 16:47, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

IRC is not an application, it's a protocol, like HTTP. There are many client programs that can be used to connect to IRC networks. There are even some that work through your browser, such as this or this.
For a list of some other, more full-featured client programs, see WP:IRC#Accessing_IRC.

Non-free rationale for File:Petz Catz 2 screenshot.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Petz Catz 2 screenshot.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:28, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Andrew Cope edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Andrew Cope requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Proposed deletion of Pawly Pets: My Animal Hospital edit

The article Pawly Pets: My Animal Hospital has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article has been tagged as unsourced for over a decade - I did a Google search and the subject does not seem to be notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
