Vandalism warning regarding Incidents at SeaWorld parks

Hello, I'm Kendrick7. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions has been undone because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. -- Kendrick7talk 23:57, 11 March 2016 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Come on man, WP:DTTR... Sergecross73 msg me 00:12, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
Yep, not even close to vandalism. User was invited to take it to the talk page, and chose to revert and call it vandalism ... --McDoobAU93 00:14, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, you're right, looking into the actual edit, it was a failure of DTTR and appropriate template use... Sergecross73 msg me 00:41, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
I do apologize for tagging a reg (thanks for pointing out the DTTR shortcut, I'd only heard whispers about it). I don't apologize for calling out a reg for violating WP:PRESERVE, a crime which I do consider tantamount to vandalism. You shouldn't be deleting facts from the encyclopedia. -- Kendrick7talk 02:03, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
PRESERVE doesn't override an active consensus to not mention victims names, not to mention, unless they're celebrities or notable people, the names don't especially add anything to the incident itself anyways in an encyclopedic sense. And there's certainly no bad-faith here, so any allusions to vandalism would be misplaced. He's a long-term editor and writer/maintainer of theme park type articles - at worst it's a misunderstanding or a good-faith mistake. Sergecross73 msg me
(talk page watcher) Preserve also does not override WP:BLP. The presumption in favor of privacy and the WP:BDP sections are particularly relevant to this situation. McDoobAU93 has committed no crime or vandalizing. You really need to take care when using terms like that. MarnetteD|Talk 02:42, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:LightningRod-Drop.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

IP editor

Hi, so what's the story with this IP? They were very keen for me to remove talk page access to another blocked IP. Fences&Windows 22:59, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I'd like to know too. I wanted to intervene, but I could really tell what the hell was going on... Sergecross73 msg me 23:35, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
I'm drawing a blank, too. It's an IPv6 address, so that's tougher to see similarities on a quick glance. It's probably an anon who got reverted and returned to express displeasure. I looked at the IP's edit history, and none of it is anything I even follow. If it's not too much to ask, what is the IP they wanted TPA blocked on? That may be what I need to see ... --McDoobAU93 00:17, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 17

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Xbox 360 games compatible with Xbox One, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Flashback (video game). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Non-free rationale for File:FrozenEverAfter-Concept.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:FrozenEverAfter-Concept.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

About the List of Wii U Virtual Console games for North America

First of all, I'd like to say thank you for leaving me that message. I did remove the example of Yoshi's Cookie because there has been no news of it since that video's posting in 2013, but I thought I left an edit summary explaining why I removed it. AuraWielder (talk) 21:18, 29 June 2016 (UTC)AuraWielder

You did, but you mentioned "the rules" without stating what said rules were. That's the reason for the request to discuss on the talk page. --McDoobAU93 21:20, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

bogus Disney rides information

Is there an SPI for this guy, or any blocks that you know of? Meters (talk) 19:56, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

It's a user on a dynamic IP, but it's been an on-going thing. I think it may be time to request long-term semi-protection on the articles until this person gets the message. But to be honest, we've been having trouble with users in Japan doing stuff like this for YEARS now. --McDoobAU93 20:08, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
I agree. I've only been aware of it for a relatively short time, but it was obvious to me that it was an ongoing problem covering many articles. I would support a multi-article protection request. Thanks. Meters (talk) 20:13, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:CobrasCurseConcept.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:CobrasCurseConcept.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:44, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

I agree. Photo has been deleted and I requested speedy deletion from the project. I've tagged the article with a photo request from both the community and the appropriate WikiProject. In truth, I'm surprised a free photo hasn't been obtained yet. --McDoobAU93 13:58, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
Hi McDoobAU93. You could try requesting one at WP:RI, c:COM:RI or even at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tampa Bay. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:19, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

New deal for page patrollers

Hi McDoobAU93/Archive,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Gears of War page edit

Hello McDoodAU93, I am new to Wikipedia and its editing guidelines and I was wondering if I can talk to you about why you removed my "Gears of War" Ultimate Edition" subsection in the Gear of War wiki page. Although the game mechanics are the close to identical to the original game, shouldn't the public be aware that Epic Games were not in charge of remastering the game but The Coalition was and that they had the rights to the game prior to its release on the Xbox One and to Windows 10? XxFASTWOLFxX (talk) 20:43, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

To answer your question: The game is clearly a remaster of the original title, and its existence is discussed in the main franchise article's discussion of the original game. It also mentions that development of said remaster was done by The Coalition after Microsoft obtained the rights to the game. Further, in the article for the game itself, there is a lengthy subhead on the Ultimate Edition remaster. Since it is a remaster, it's not really a new game in the franchise as Gears of War 4 is. I hope that does answer your question, but if it does not, feel free to respond here and I'll do my best to assist. --McDoobAU93 20:52, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
Oh okay. I didn't realize that there was a Gears of War Wiki that talks about the game itself and another for the entire franchise. Thank you for clearing things up for me and I appropriate the help. Thanks again. XxFASTWOLFxX (talk) 01:47, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
