Proposed deletion of "Koryu Uchinadi" edit

The deletion of an article you created, Koryu Uchinadi, has been proposed for the following reason:

Martial art of unclear notability.

You are welcome to improve the article to meet Wikipedia's quality standards and remove the deletion notice from the article. You may also remove the notice if you disagree with the deletion, though in such cases, further discussion may take place at Articles for deletion, and the article may still be deleted if there is a consensus to do so.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy. You may wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Speedy deletion of "Patrick McCarthy (martial artist)" edit

A page you created, Patrick McCarthy (martial artist), has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for biographies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Wikipedia folks,

I'm a newby and not entirely familiar with your process; that said, I am certain that the worldwide practice of Koryu Uchinadi, and its founder Patrick McCarthy [author and instructor] are worthy of Wikipedia reference and certainly meet with you guidelines.

Koryu Uchinadi edit

To save the article from deletion, the first thing you must do is establish its notability, that is, more or less, its notoriety. If it's something new that you feel is going to catch on soon, then right now is not the time to write a Wikipedia article about it. You might want to look at the essay on Scrabble, which states when an article about Scrabble could have been written if Wikipedia had been that old.

Remember, your sources must be third-party sources to be considered valid for the purpose of an encyclopedia. An encyclopedia is, by definition, not a publisher of original thought.

If your problem is that you do not know how to provide a reference, you might want to look here to see what kind of sources are requested, and here for the technical aspects of citing sources. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask me. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 23:55, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

November 2009 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Gōjū-ryū. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Oda Mari (talk) 05:12, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Patrick McCarthy.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Patrick McCarthy.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 01:49, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Patrick McCarthy edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Patrick McCarthy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. --*Fehufangą✉ Talk page ♮ 05:31, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I have deleted your draft because the only place you are allowed to write about yourself is on your own user page. You will NOT be allowed to link to your Youtube channel, blog, Instagram account or any other such content or to promote your skills, services, publications, etc. Deb (talk) 16:03, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
