June 2015 edit

Hello, I'm Amortias. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User talk:Mean as custard that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Amortias (T)(C) 21:09, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Amortias, I have a constitutional problem with M.A.C.'s rape of Mr. Shiva's 10 years old Page. How can one editor, delete 7000+ words in one attempt. Could you tell me what options I have to remedy this? Thank you, Maverick7752

(edit conflict)The appropriate place would be to discuss your concerns at the articles talk page. You should start a new section and describe what issues you think there are and what you would like done to resolve the issue, in your message you should include this text {{u|Mean as custard}} to draw their attention to the section. Please ensure that any discussions are kept civil and appropriate. You should also avoid using inflamatory terms such as rape as this is likely to have a negative effect on any communication you have on the site. Amortias (T)(C) 21:24, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Amortias, Thank you. When 7000+ words are removed by one editor in one time from a 10-year old page, there is no friendly way to describe it . It seems as a biased attempt. Although I will seize to use the term rape, but it's the word that best describes what M.A.C has done. A blatant action, that needs to be remedied. Thank you.

Your best bet would be to follow the steps outlined here as this is the appropriate avenue for dispute resolution. Amortias (T)(C) 21:50, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Stop with the offensive tone. First of all, it isn't his page, it's a Wikipedia article about him. Also, the text removed was a violation of WP:NPOV, and was unsourced- therefore what they did was perfectly acceptable. If you wish to readd text, please make the additions neutral tone and support them with reliable sources. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:23, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Joseph, There is nothing offensive in my voice. And I can't help your sensitivities. A wrong has been done by one editor that needs to be remedied. Thanks, Maverick

Calling it "rape" is deeply offensive. And I don't believe a wrong has been done, for the reasons discussed above (promotional, unsourced text is not wanted on Wikipedia). You should discuss it at the talkpage, and find some reliable sources to support the re-adding of the content. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:34, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Joseph, how can there be 7000+ words of promotional materials on a 10-year old page. A wrong has been done and it needs to remedied. No one editor should have that much power to rip a page apart like that in one stroke.

The article described him as "award-winning", and "young prodigy", neither of which are acceptable under WP:NPOV. An unsourced list of achievements is also just promotional and not wanted. Everything must be supported by reliable sources. Just because it lasted for 10 years doesn't make it acceptable. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:45, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

The artist is award-winning, as it is stated under his bibliography, under the title Rending The Veil. And what you just mentioned are just 4 words out of 7000+ that were removed wholesale, which need to be remedied.

Mr. Shiva is a personality who has been active professionally for 25 years. Some of Wiki pages for such personalities are 50,000 words long, describing their life, childhood, upbringing, quotes and so on. Why show biased treatment of Mr. Shiva work?

No-one is biased, we work on what reliable sources say about them. If people add more reliable sources, then the article can be expanded. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:51, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Also, according to Talk:Shahram Shiva, 3 of the main contributors to the article had a conflict of interest, which probably compromised the quality of the article. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:56, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

OK. But it doesn't answer my question. An award-winning author of several titles and more to come, gets the phrase "award-winning" removed for no cause? Plus 7000 other words in one swoop by one editor.

Joseph and Amoritas, I respectfully request your help to correctly expand Mr. Shiva's page and also to remove the warning sections on top. Info that need to added are some personal background, plus a few quotes. And also 1 or 2 important external links, such as one to Rumi.Net or Rumi Network. Please comment. Thanks,

Thats something we should be able to advise on. You will need to go to the articles talk page (link located near the top of the article). When there start a new section, in the section that opens pace {{requested edit}} followed by the changes you wish to make in a change "X to Y" format. This will alert editors who specialise in making this type of edit that something needs reviewing. It may take a little while but this is the best method for an area where there have been issues with content and disputes about what should be contained in the article. Thank you!

UPDATE: Thank you Ocaasi. Also I have been slammed at work and haven't had a chance to follow up with this. Shahram Shiva is a contributor to Huffington Post with already many articles posted. What's the best way of mentioning this on this page: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/shahram-shiva
