Departments vs. Provinces edit

Hey, MauriManya! Thank you very much for undoing those, I dare say, nonsensical redirects. It's much better now, as it has to be.

Saludos! --MauriManya (talk) 02:45, 8 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Me parece bien, gracias.
--MauriManya (talk) 22:25, 20 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Renaming areas of Montevideo edit

Hi MauriManya, I moved Cuidad Vieja, Carrasco and Prado to their correct naming as per naming conventions, and bypassed redirects in the "what links here" links and in the general template. However, I don't understand why you suggest to rename Pocitos to Pocitos (Montevideo) and Tres Cruces to Tres Cruces (Montevideo), since there are no existing articles with the same name (yet), so it is not according to naming conventions to specify. Also I am not sure how to go about Central Montevideo to Centro (Montevideo). (I understand Spanish well enough, by the way, though I'm not good in using it yet). Hoverfish Talk 13:23, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

OK, I saw your corrections and checked the specific naming conventions for administrative divisions. So now everything is back to "Area, City" format. Hoverfish Talk 18:30, 20 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Hoverfish. I undid my revision and add some changes. Regards. --MauriManya (talk) 18:55, 20 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Inclusion of external link on Montevideo edit

Hi MauriManya, to avoid violating the policy on self-promotion, I have placed a request for the inclusion of an external link here Talk:Montevideo#Addition_of_external_link. Since you are relevant to the edit history of the article and to the topic of Montevideo, I would like to ask you to decide on inclusion, and if so to add it to the external links. Thank you. /* List of largest empires */ edit

Hi, I noticed you reverted an edit on List of Largest Empires. Was this because you prefer it formatted as a list instead of a table or was it because of some information in the article? I'm in favor of the table format instead of the list, for reasons given on the talk page there. I may change it back to the table format, but I thought I'd check your opinion first. It's probably easiest to reply back on Talk:List of largest empires. Dingo1729 (talk) 18:13, 6 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

List of largest empires edit

Hi there. We're having a content dispute at the article above - the list of empires has a large 216 entries, and currently the article sees fit to repeat this list 6 times! Clearly a waste of storage and bandwidth. A better solution (saving at least 30% and making it much easier to read and use) would be a table with a column for each attribute, sortable, as used in many other articles (see the discussion). However, a silent editor keeps reverting attempts to clean up the article, without explanation. Please see the discussion (currently nobody disagrees). Your comments would be welcome. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.18.207 (talk) 21:17, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Non-free content and templates edit

Please do not place non-free content, such as File:Flag of the African Union 2010.svg, on to templates as you did here. The use of non-free content on templates is strictly prohibited by WP:NFCC #9. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 21:51, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Si no tenés buenos argumentos no toques nada. Saludos.

I think you are misguided. Maybe the source has two different sizes, but it´s obvious that the real size is 24, no 33. I´ve checked other sources in google books and the numbers are much closer to 24 than to 33 million square km. Besides, just take a look and compare the mongol with the russian empire or the soviet union. You´ll see the are roughly of the same size.--Knight1993 (talk) 19:34, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Department flags edit

Hi MauriManya, do some Uruguay departments have flags and others not? or do we simply miss the proper flag-icons? Personally I think they look best with only the coat of arms, but I think that the "Artigas flag" has historical significance too. Hoverfish Talk 16:00, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Spanish wikipedia edit

Hi MauriManya, I saw that Manuel Esmoris also added it to the Spanish Wiki, so I notified Góngora to keep a watch. I see you had a whole edit war going on yesterday. You see, "Manuel Esmoris" is the writer of the PDF text, but he is a begginer in Wikipedia and does not know anything about policies. The template I know Template:Uw-copyright does not have a Spanish page and my Spanish is not good enough to write the proper explanations and warning by myself. So I am not sure what procedure is best there. I suggest you contact an active admin there, if he continues. Meanwhile, please keep in mind this [1]. Saludos. SADR "Spanish" language edit

Spanish is not an official language of the SADR. The SADR constitution specifies Arabic as the sole official language of the country. This is discussed on the SADR talk page and referenced in the article. Please do not insert Spanish into the info box. There is no legitimate reason for doing so. Countries with multiple capitals edit

According to the Constitution of the Republic of China, the nation's capital is Nanjing. However, in reality the seat of government is Taipei. Therefore, it should be included in as a country with multiple capitals. 67.124.149.129 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:36, 29 June 2011 (UTC).Reply

Hi there, the Netherlands only has one capital: Amsterdam. Where the seat of government is located is utterly irrelevant; and indeed the own interpretation linking one of the possible (American) English interpretations of the term capital onto the Dutch case. This is synthesis a form of original research, which has no place on Wikipedia. Unless you can provide a reliable source that explicitly mentions the Dutch case as a country with two capitals do not re-add it. Thanks Arnoutf (talk) 17:20, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Help with a reference edit

Hi MauriManya, do you think we can find a reference for this: "An abandoned hotel by the beach (of Pajas Blancas), the Viejo Hotel, used to host important events, including the festivities for of the Selección Uruguaya when they won the football cup in 1930." This information I was told by a local person in Pajas Blancas, but I have very little knowledge on how to find any reference for it. Old sports articles maybe? Thanks. Mongol Empire edit

Please refrain from continuously changing the Mongol Empire entry's size as 34.0m km sq on the List of Largest Empires page. I have cited my sources as to why it is 24.0m on both the English and Spanish Wikipedias. Thank you, and have a nice day! Lord British (talk) 15:11, 3 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I was mistaken in thinking these sources said 33.0m. They do, in fact, say 24.0m. Please DO NOT edit what I have said on talk pages. If I change what I say, then it means I wish to correct myself. Thank you. Lord British (talk) 15:03, 4 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited C.A. Peñarol, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jorge da Silva (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). If you continue simply editing things like this hackles will be raised. Instead of editing the svg file, add a confirmation question on the Azerbaijan talk page, or edit the Azerbaijan page noting it as "per talk" or something as such, as there has been no opposition there. Can you help with any reference edit

Hi MauriManya, as you see I have turned all links to point to Pérez Castellanos now. In all the inmobiliaria of Montevideo I find it as Pérez, but the only official mention I have ever found has it as Castro [2]. Is there any non-spam link you could help me with? The article is completely unreferenced as you see. Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 00:58, 13 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Truth is I haven't looked into this new CCZ# system of Montevideo yet. Such alphanumerical names seem to deprive a place from any local identity, but as long as they are there I guess we have to bring them in here too. Anyway the link you sent is fine, thanks again. Uruguayan Primera División edit

You must understand that "the most successful club" is a controversial information in Uruguay and you have to propose earlier in the discussion page if you want to include in it. These are the steps you should take before you edit items in these cases, rather than impose your point of view. Please do not generate an edit war. --186.49.35.125 (talk) 02:36, 3 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Reversed changes edit

Hello. I saw you edited Uruguayan Primera División's Wikipedia page. I revert your changes and I will explain why. I did it first because Wikipedia states that must appear on all possible versions of a information, and not that a user creates to be true. Also, for example, that number (49) is not only the championships won by Peñarol, but also to those earned by CURCC and other tournaments outside AUF.

This point has already been discussed many times in the Spanish Wikipedia and this result was reached. Data titles are clarified below in the article. I would also ask you to avoid an edit war, so if you do not agree with me I think we can reach a state that leaves us both satisfied. Greetings. --Laln93 (talk) 00:22, 15 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Malietoa Tanumafili II edit

He was not a king. Samoa had non-hereditatry tribal chiefs which cannot be equated with royals or kings in the Western world and were more ceremonial than monarchal. His title Malietoa had no more importance than a handful of other high chiefly lines in Samoa. After Samoa's independence the Malietoa and the Tupua Tamasese were appointed co-head of state for life with the titles of O le Ao o le Malo. Tupua Tamasese Meaʻole died before Malietoa Tanumafili II. Today the position is elective but I see in the future that the title would remain in the four principal chiefly lines because of traditions.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 02:03, 26 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
