Martha Shaw edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Martha Shaw, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.shorter.edu/academics/arts/bio_martha_shaw.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Martha Shaw edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the article Martha Shaw, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition was deleted under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 01:24, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove a speedy deletion tag for an article you have created yourself, as you did for Martha Shaw. Parslad (talk) 03:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Closedmouth (talk) 03:07, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Carmen Acevedo Butcher edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Carmen Acevedo Butcher, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Carmen Acevedo Butcher seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Carmen Acevedo Butcher, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Re: Martha Shaw edit

Re your message: The problem with the article at the time that I deleted it was not that it was advertising her, but that it was directly lifted from the college's website and was therefore a copyright violation. Wikipedia can not accept copyrighted material. I had to remove several sentences from your recreated article because they were lifted from the college website and other places. As an instructor at Shorter, you should know that copyright violations are a serious matter. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:58, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

advice edit

As reviewing administrator, I have removed the speedy deletion tag on Martha Shaw; someone else removed it on Carben Butcher. Thereare however some problems with the articles:

  1. They must be worded in n encyclopedic fashion, rather than promotional. The article needs to show and give evidence for the accomplishments, not praise them.
  2. Please be absolutely certain the material is not copied from a preexisting website. Even if you own the contents and are prepared to donte them to Wikipedia , the sort of material there is almost inevitably promotional, and usually does not make a suitable article.
  3. For the standards for faculty, see WP:PROF. A formal bibliographic list of published books showing the publisher and the ISBN helps very much is assessing notability. Inaddition, if there are any published reviews in reliable independent sources, they too should be cited.
  4. For the standards for creative artists and people in general, see WP:BIO. Note the importance of 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases, or material based on press releases).
  5. It appears that you may possibly have some conflict of interest with respect to these articles. I suggest your read our FAQ (on organisations) and follow the advice given there.
  6. I will be making some necessary edits to the articles. Do not restore the cuts, but please do replace any copyright text remaining.

Nomination of Carmen Acevedo Butcher for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Carmen Acevedo Butcher is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carmen Acevedo Butcher until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Bongomatic 23:51, 12 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article Martha Shaw has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
