celebrating GW60 or: the birthday of my first subject -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:21, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

A new month means a new gorgeous pic and new learning. Yippee Gerda Arendt. MarnetteD|Talk 15:55, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
3 concerts in 3 days can now be found together: a Ukrainian chamber choir, my cellist and composer friend's 60th birthday music (with a world premiere and that overview about his career), and Bach's ultimate statement about life and death --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:12, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
Wonderful Gerda Arendt! Isabel had her debut performance at La Scala Saturday night so it was quite a special weekend in Europe :-) MarnetteD|Talk 18:28, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Lovely Gerda Arendt. Your friendship is another thing that I am thankful for on this day. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 16:05, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
blushing - I came to say there's opera and Advent choral music on my talk --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:38, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
Very nice Gerda Arendt. Exciting news here - my beloved Santa Fe Opera was named Festival of the Year at the International Opera Awards. I know it is WP:POV on my part but they truly deserved it :-) MarnetteD|Talk 05:41, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

Leigh Halfpenny

Leigh returns tomorrow for Wales v New Zealand. Recuperating after more than a year. Praying that he avoids any more injuries. All the best, Michael.
Gareth Griffith-Jones (talk) (contribs) 12:51, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the update Gareth Griffith-Jones. Here is hoping that a long and distinguished career has several more special performances. Enjoy the match! MarnetteD|Talk 15:57, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

happy new year

Today, we sang Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme twice, after a short trip to Paris with great opera and symphony, - enjoy! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:41, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

Today, a hymn for a Marian feast, I learned that Yvonne Ciannella died, the soprano who impressed me in my first night at the opera, and as she died in March, sadly no Main page reverence is possible, - at least she had a good DYK, at a time when opera singers were considered interesting. I'm proud today that Christiane Hörbiger made it to that corner, and happy that we celebrate the birthday of Jean Sibelius again. - I heard an excellent Christmas concert yesterday, by Tenebrae, and a short excerpt of them singing "Deo gracias" is also linked from my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:27, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for all of this Gerta. I love the pic. RIP Yvonne. Best wishes. MarnetteD|Talk 20:47, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
Been a while since I messed up a ping Gerta. MarnetteD|Talk 20:48, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
Today was a day rich in music, with two new pictures, and also rich in WP:QAI contributions on the Main page: the TFA, 2 DYK and 2 RD with members as principal editors. The church pictured there (not by me, nice snow dust and tall evergreen) comes with memories, detailed on my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:08, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
Simply marvelous Gerta. Thanks and enjoy your week. MarnetteD|Talk 11:59, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
Thank you, preparing the music for Christmas in rehearsals and writing. But then being pinged to WP:AN, - my ACE 2022, you know? Peace and the people of goodwill. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:04, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
Latest pics, with an opera discovery - imagine, famous composer's dearest, and given its second production in Germany now (the first was in 2012). Today my talk has a DYK that was planned for 22 November, among the recent deaths the author of Duck, Death and the Tulip, and now a choir pic of "our" concert last Sunday, likely to become next year's lead image. Enjoy. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:28, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
Enjoy the season, dreaming of peace! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:45, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
Thank you so much Gerta. Here is a tuneful treat for your enjoyment. MarnetteD|Talk 17:37, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
That's lovely, thank you! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:22, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
Today, pictured, the soprano of our choral concert of the year. More in the context: User talk:Gerda Arendt#DYK for Talia Or, in case of interest. - Enjoy the season! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:14, 26 December 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for all gifts and posts this year Gerta. Best wishes to you in 2023. MarnetteD|Talk 20:29, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

Alexei Sayle

Hi MarnetteD,

I've been looking at the recent edits which you reverted. They were not by me, although I have contributed a lot to the page. I agree the editor should have provided an explanation and sources. Looking closely though, I noticed the edits were fixes of inaccuracies. If you take a look, maybe you will agree. If you do, you might like to undo your reverts. Anyway, have a look and see what you think. Enjoy your retirement, by the way! Scrabble1968 (talk) 18:29, 11 December 2022 (UTC)

Hello Scrabble1968 and thanks for your message. Please feel free to revert in a situation like this. It is most kind and polite of you to ask but as, I may go a day or four before I see a message like yours, you might as well fix things when you see them. Best regards and happy holidays :-) MarnetteD|Talk 11:57, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

A brownie for you!

For just overall being supportive. It can be distressing sometimes on this platform when you try and try and try and then feel like you are scolded badly only for trying to spread joy! :(

Enjoy this freshly baked brownie. Moops T 18:52, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Yum Yum. Thank you Moops, This is much appreciated. While Wikipedia is mostly a friendly - or at least tolerable - place to edit sometimes people get their noses out of joint. Try not to take it personally - though I admit that can be hard to do. Thanks for your editing and best wishes in the year ahead. MarnetteD|Talk 18:59, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
I would say that I do my best to get along with most people around here, and generally do! Was hoping to also get to know many editors that I don't always have a chance to interact with by sending these 'New Years greetings' just this one year. I was not planning on doing this every single year in as broad a fashion as possible! But I DID want to try and touch the top several thousand editors by most edit count this year, since my account is not even a year old (anniversary is Feb. 2023), and then I could just greet those that I most interact with in future years. I would have hoped that this would not have been seen as 'disruptive', but I will not proceed now without the blessing of RoySmith. Knowing this plan, would you reconsider now Roy? I'd love for you to let me finish what I started, since I was mid-way into it and you now know I mean only well and am not using a bot. I think it would partially help the healing of my block to know that I could at least continue this tiny effort through to completion through the rest of this week and then done for good. :) Moops T 19:05, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Our posts crossed Moops and you will have seen my thoughts on your talk page by now. I'm sorry it isn't what you were hoping for. I'm just reading the temperature of the situation and I don't want you to face more unpleasantness. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 19:15, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
I absolutely would NOT resume without getting a clear 'go-ahead', from RoySmith mostly, that I could continue, at least until I am done with the top few thousand that I wanted to greet... :(
Anyway, I'll move on then. TY Moops T 19:16, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Good idea, I think. Imagine every single one you greeted had now replied on your talk ;) - What I said on your talk was meant for next year, not now. Better probably: send RoySmith something good and personal then. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:21, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
