Help me! edit

Please help me with... i am trying to upload an image to the Lynda Resnick page and I am unable to do so because its being flagged as copyright infringement. I own the image how can I prove my ownership of this image.

Markt2727 (talk) 21:26, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

If you cannot show you licensed it yourself, it's not acceptable. I would also perhaps consider visiting WP:UPLOAD. SwisterTwister talk 22:16, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks SwisterTwister, how can I prove that I own the image?

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Markt2727. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Mkdwtalk 17:36, 12 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Lynda Resnick.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Lynda Resnick.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. JohnCD (talk) 18:09, 12 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

July 2016 edit

  You are suspected of sock puppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the notes for the suspect, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Markt2727. Thank you. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but using them for illegitimate reasons is not, and that any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 20:11, 12 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Hello. I'm hoping you can help me rectify this sockpuppetry situation, as it all appears to be a misunderstanding. Let me start off by saying I am new to Wikipedia, so apologize for my ignorance.

I made some factual edits to the Lynda Resnick page which were properly sourced. I believe I ran into difficulty trying to update her portrait image. I was unclear about licensing agreements and kept running into the same errors, which eventually got me banned.

I was confused about how to communicate with the website moderators (such as yourself) to rectify the situation, so I created the alternate accounts snoopy9512 and pr1234 once I believed I had learned how to properly upload the new image. I was wrong and still had additional difficulties.

I believe the text edits I made to the page should remain, as they are sourced through independent news organizations and company websites, but the image should just revert to what was used prior to my attempt to update it to something more recent.

I again apologize for this confusion. I was just attempting to update her page, which contained much outdated information, and would very much appreciate your assistance in the best way to go about doing that and reinstate my original edits.

Thank you very much for your help.

Decline reason:

I have to agree with the characterization by Mkdw below. The content you would like to see reinstated was neither as well-referenced nor as factual as you say, and that isn't even addressing your removal of less positive facts from the article. Huon (talk) 01:15, 13 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • Mark, although I appreciate the acknowledgment of the sock puppetry, even if you were to be restricted to one account, you have such an obvious conflict of interest that the article and Wikipedia would be better served without your "assistance".--Bbb23 (talk) 22:39, 12 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
(refactored) May I be unblocked if I propose changes on talk pages by noting a potential COI and using the {{request edit}} template or on the conflict-of-interest noticeboard? There are simply a number of inaccuracies that should be addressed and I know of no other way of doing so. I was unaware of the COI guidelines and apologize. Markt2727 (talk) 23:31, 12 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Markt2727, I've refactored your reply because you should only have one unblock request open at a time. You may however, continue the discussion regarding your unblock request below. You were warned several times about conflict of interest and undisclosed paid editing. Once by David Biddulph at User talk:Pr1234 and then again by me above. I reminded you again on the Pr1234 user talk page about COI and the use of multiple accounts. After receiving these warnings not only did you create another account, you also reverted an 'administrative' action I took to undo the changes you introduced which contained several breaches of policy including linkspam, formatting issues, and NPOV concerns. This demonstrates to us that you came here ill-prepared and ill-informed about our policies and when attempts were made [to inform you], you seemingly willfully ignored them. Due to your situation of employment, I do not believe you will be able to make recommendations that will ultimately lead to a balanced and neutral article about the subject. Simply the accumulation of recommendations that only feature the subject in a positive or promotional way will inherently unbalance the article from a neutral point of view. File permission problem with File:Lynda Resnick.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Lynda Resnick.jpg, which you've attributed to Shavawn Rissman. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BethNaught (talk) 07:39, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
