Re:Thanks for the welcome edit

Absolutely, I'm glad I had the opportunity of welcoming you. I noticed you've tagged some articles with CSD and I suggest warning the user. At the bottom of the CSD tag, you'll notice a subst: template below "Please consider placing the template:". It is encouraged that you warn the user to notify them why the article is being deleted, and the user may improve the article. If you have questions or concerns, contact me at my talkpage. Nathaniel Dunigan CSD edit

Hi MarkBurberry32. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Nathaniel dunigan, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. — Mr. Stradivarius 17:18, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

In particular, if an article makes a credible assertion of importance, then it does not fall under CSD A7. For example, if the article says that the subject is the "Dammeyer Fellow in Global Education Leadership", that is a credible claim of importance, so the article cannot be deleted under A7. The criteria at WP:CSD are very strict, and they must be followed to the letter. Let me know if you have any questions about any of them. Best regards — Mr. Stradivarius 17:21, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for letting me know about that - I marked CSD as an A7 because the piece was biographical - and it was basically the guy posting his entire resumé. If I should have gone about it another way, I understand entirely, but would you please be kind enough to direct me to the correct process for this kind of self promotive article? Thanks. MarkBurberry32 talk 17:26, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
In this particular case, I would first check to see if it can be deleted under any of the other criteria. I did suspect that it may be eligible to be deleted under G12, blatant copyright infringement, because of this Google search. However, I can't find the original text on the non-Wikipedia sites to prove infringement. We do have a CSD category for blatant advertising, but Nathaniel dunigan doesn't fulfil that either, as some of the content isn't promotional, e.g. "Nathaniel Dunigan first visited Uganda when he was Deputy Director of the Office of the Governor in Tucson, Arizona." I don't think the article falls under any of the other CSD criteria, so the next step is to check whether he fulfils our notability criteria for biographies. If he doesn't, then you can propose the article for deletion, and send it to AfD if the proposed deletion template gets removed. If he does meet the notability criteria, then consider cleaning up the article using the steps listed at Wikipedia:New page patrol. Best — Mr. Stradivarius 17:39, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Note from Ndunigan edit

Thank you for your input, and I appreciate your work. If the issue of my work at the Governor's Office is the issue, I am happy to either add a citation, or remove the reference. Please let me know what you prefer. And thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ndunigan (talkcontribs) 03:47, 22 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comments Ndunigan - to be honest, it's not the citation or anything which is an issue, it's the fact that you wrote the whole article about yourself, yourself (if you understand what I mean) - when I first saw it, it almost reminded me of a cross between a life history and a Curriculum Vitae. If you're notable enough to be in the encyclopedia, someone else should really be writing about you. MarkBurberry32 talk 10:51, 22 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Craig Graham edit

Bigbubblemedia Thank you for your help. I am very new to Wiki and have never put up a page before. I really need some help, do you know of any tutorials I can watch? Thank you Bigbubblemedia (talk) 01:47, 23 April 2012 (UTC)BigbubblemediaReply

Hi Bigbubblemedia - I'm relatively new myself, but have had quite a crash course from an existing editor. I don't know of any tutorials, but you may be best if you want to put the article up and get it right in advance, to try adding it through Articles for creation - which allows you to plan the article first before submitting it to Wikipedia. I also notice that you're still deleting inline references out of the article, which you really shouldn't do - you need to say why you're doing it, and I think it might help if you talk to Widefox, who has communicated with you on your talk page. It may be better for you to get help from a much more experienced wikipedian than me. MarkBurberry32|talk 01:49, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey Mark. Rachel here. I am the creator of Craig Graham, although it did end up being a bit of a disaster. I have to say my first experience was not that enjoyable, but a kind editor helped me and said that you have the article in sandbox. Are you ok if we build this article together? I'm just nervous about doing it on my own, seeing as it went disastrous the last time :-) Thanks formerly BBM (something else I messed up - LOL) Sydneysider1979 (talk) 06:52, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Sydneysider1979Reply

Saas Bina Sasural edit

You recently proposed to merge Story of Saas Bina Sasural with Saas Bina Sasural but Wiki Project Soap Opera Members are not letting me add the story there as they say that it exceeds the word limit and I was forced to make this new article so please do not ask to merge, it may again be deleted if it is merged. Thanking you, --Jagadhatri(২০১২) 04:35, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jagahatri, thank you for letting me know. It's very rare from what I can see, that a soap opera and the plotline of the soap opera need separate entries - all of those I've seen so far usually have the plotline merged into the article. I will see if I can find out anything more, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. MarkBurberry32|talk 11:09, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Also, as I've just been told, it may help you to read our guidelines on writing plot summaries. Having looked at your work, it seems to be rather long, so it may help if you just give a very brief summary of each episode or part of the plot. It's a great piece, very comprehensive, but it would make the main article too big to read as it is now. MarkBurberry32|talk 11:32, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately not, Jagadhatri. You might want to try asking the Wikipedia Help Desk for more information on what you need to do, and how to do it :) Sorry. MarkBurberry32|talk 16:42, 5 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Trout! edit

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

for making me look like a plonker on IRC :)  BarkingFish  23:18, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
