Dr. Robert Chahine edit

@DoubleGrazing
Hello DoubleGlazing
Thank you for reviewing the article.
I have to tell you that you are wrong about the paid part. I am a Pharmacist living in Italy and I actually never properly met Robert Chahine (I did listen to one of his lectures once).
I was fascinated by his persona, and being in the medical field myself, from the same village (originally) in Lebanon as Dr. Robert Chahine, and seeing how much in the dark are his achievements online (because he was more known in the 70s and 80s, when the internet was still at its dawn), I felt it is my duty to gather everything I found about him online and write this article.
I could edit the article and make it sound less “peacocky”, but this is the way I write, and everything written is correct and backed-up with academic sources.
He also fit 3 requirement to have an article as an academic.
Let me know what you need as proof that I am doing this out of my own will.

Okay, if you say you have no external relationship, paid or otherwise, with this person, then we will take your word for it; no need for further 'proof'. Thank you, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:05, 3 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello,
about the academic notability, I think Robert A. Chahine clearly fit the 3rd and 5th criteria (at least), he surely fits the 1st as he has published more than 200 detailed papers that were crucial for the treatment of coronary artery spasms and unstable angina (among others) , but I am having trouble finding a clear independent article that outline that as most news archive from the 1980s require payments.

1- The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources.

2- The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level.

3- The person has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor (e.g., Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).

Robert A. chahine is a fellow of the American Association for the advancement of science[1] and of the american heart association (among other associations) and published hundred of articles now part of ahajournals.org

4- The person's academic work has made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions.

5- The person has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon.

Robert A. Chahine was the dean of the faculty of medicine of the Lebanese university (mentioned in the article) (ranked 2nd in lebanon, after the american university of beirut) https://www.ul.edu.lb/faculte/branches.aspx?facultyId=15Robert A. Chahine has a scholarship in his name at the American university of beirut https://www.aub.edu.lb/advancement/Pages/Endowed-Scholarships.aspx

6- The person has held a highest-level elected or appointed administrative post at a major academic institution or major academic society.

7- The person has had a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity.

He was chief of the VA Miami https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/fl-xpm-1985-06-04-8501220338-story.html

8- The person has been the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal in their subject area.

Hello Mariaelhayek. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Robert Chahine, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Mariaelhayek. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Mariaelhayek|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:07, 3 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
