Administrators' newsletter – February 2020

News and updates for administrators from the past month (January 2020).

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, partial blocks are now enabled on the English Wikipedia. This functionality allows administrators to block users from editing specific pages or namespaces rather than the entire site. A draft policy is being workshopped at Wikipedia:Partial blocks.
  • The request for comment seeking the community's sentiment for a binding desysop procedure closed with wide-spread support for an alternative desysoping procedure based on community input. No proposed process received consensus.

  Technical news

  • Twinkle now supports partial blocking. There is a small checkbox that toggles the "partial" status for both blocks and templating. There is currently one template: {{uw-pblock}}.
  • When trying to move a page, if the target title already exists then a warning message is shown. The warning message will now include a link to the target title. [1]

  Arbitration

  • Following a recent arbitration case, the Arbitration Committee reminded administrators that checkuser and oversight blocks must not be reversed or modified without prior consultation with the checkuser or oversighter who placed the block, the respective functionary team, or the Arbitration Committee.

Administrators' newsletter – March 2020

News and updates for administrators from the past month (February 2020).

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, the blocking policy was changed to state that sysops must not undo or alter CheckUser or Oversight blocks, rather than should not.
  • A request for comment confirmed that sandboxes of established but inactive editors may not be blanked due solely to inactivity.

  Technical news

  • Following a discussion, Twinkle's default CSD behavior will soon change, most likely this week. After the change, Twinkle will default to "tagging mode" if there is no CSD tag present, and default to "deletion mode" if there is a CSD tag present. You will be able to always default to "deletion mode" (the current behavior) using your Twinkle preferences.

Fiona Stewart (event director)

Hiya I was just about to create a page for Fiona Stewart, director of the Green Man Festival when I came across a deletion discussion via the name disambig page. The previous page was deleted by you after discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fiona Stewart (event director), seemingly because it was a puff piece. I've been writing my new version at User:Mujinga/DraftFS and I'm confident it passes WP:V and WP:GNG. Could you recreate the page so I could take a look at it and then merge in my new version? Thanks! Mujinga (talk) 05:29, 21 March 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Filching (disambiguation)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Filching (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Q on Deleted Page

Hi Malclmxl5, I was going to create an article page on "Japanese historical figures in popular culture", to provide something similar to the article People of the Sengoku period in popular culture, and so that main pages don't get cluttered with lists of every appearance in manga and anime, but I saw that you deleted that page in 2015. May I ask why? And do you have an objection if I re-create the page? Thanks. - Boneyard90 (talk) 20:03, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi Boneyard90. Japanese historical figures in popular culture was a redirect to the article Japanese historical people in popular culture, which was deleted by User:Nakon as a result of this discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Japanese historical people in popular culture. The redirect followed (deleted by me) as it was then pointing to a page that didn’t exist. No objection from me to recreating the article - enough time has passed - though I would suggest that the key thing is to resolve the issues found at the AfD. Regards, --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 20:24, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of page

Hi, You deleted a page I created, “Charlie Powell (Presenter)“. Could you explain why so that I can Try to get it published again please? Thanks in advance, Steve. Spifflepoos (talk) 03:22, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Spifflepoos. The page was deleted as a result of this discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charlie Powell (presenter). The challenge was that the subject did not meet the WP:GNG guideline - the general notability guideline - for an article in the Wikipedia and all participants in the discussion agreed. The fundamental problem identified was one of sourcing, that there is a lack of significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject to be able to write an article that meets the guideline. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 16:35, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Thank you. I will endeavour to find better and more independent sources. Can I amend in Sandbox and publish from there? Spifflepoos (talk) 16:52, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Sure, I don’t see why you can work on it in your sandbox, or alternatively in draft space. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 18:17, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of Charlie Talbert (10 January 2016)

I began the process of creating a page about the actor Charlie Talbert using articles from the Journal Times and Chicago Tribune--published around the time of his largest film role (1995's Angus)--among the references. I discovered a previous Wikipedia article on this actor had been deleted, and was given to understand that I needed to confirm with you (according to the creation and deletion talk pages) before recreating the article. As these published sources are specifically about the actor, including his chance discovery/casting, they seem to indicate notability, at least during years surrounding the film's release (and it is my understanding that Wikipedia's policy is "notability is not temporary"). --Xevirus (talk) 06:18, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Good morning, Xevirus, and welcome back. If you have sources that demonstrate notability - significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject - then that would be an advance on what was there before (a three line article and a list of films, supported by one source, IMDb). Feel free to create a new article. Regards, --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 06:59, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

weird IP submission from an apparently blocked range

I freely admit I may be missing something after having literally spent the night in my office, but how did the edit I just reverted at Arabic coffee happen in the first instance, given your rangeblock? I'm groggy; again, I'm more than 50% likely to just be missing something, but I want to know what that is, for future reference.

At a minimum, what magic words do I need to use to evoke a wider rangeblock at AIV? Thanks! - Julietdeltalima (talk) 14:20, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

@Julietdeltalima: It’s a partial block from template space due to IP hopping, voluminous bot-like editing of templates in that range. It allows editing elsewhere. For individual IPs causing problems in article space, warn them in the usual way and then report them. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 14:40, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

Tanuj Khatri

Hi,recently you have removed one page name "Tanuj Khatri" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanuj_Khatri, i have added enough proof but maximum proof are from Hindi language, i have shared youtube link as well to prove that he is SPOKESPERSON Of local Party of State Jharkhand (India).added all his details but page is removed by you yesterday.i request you to check 2 english link as well where article have mentioned details about him,if you want youtube video i will share that as well (Ziyush (talk) 04:19, 16 July 2020 (UTC))

Hello Ziyush. The page was deleted as a result of this discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tanuj Khatri in which everybody agreed that Mr Khatri does not warrant an article at this time. There were two main strands in the discussion: (1) that he does not meet the inclusion criteria for a politician, that is, to have held or to have been elected to a international, national or statewide office or legislative body, and (2) he does he meet the inclusion criteria of the general notability guideline, that is, there is a lack of significant coverage about Mr Khatri in reliable sources that are independent of him.
Going forward, the options appear to be to either wait until Mr Khatri does one day in the future meet the criteria for an article on Wikipedia or to consider creating the article on another website, such as Everipedia or EverybodyWiki (which already has an article on Mr Khatri). --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:22, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Why did you delete the page Somdutta Singh — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.86.2.153 (talk) 09:39, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Because there was a consensus at this discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Somdutta Singh to delete the page. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 09:44, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

The page was created for a notable person with references and citations to media articles in press and news. The coverages are significant and mention the person. The comments said to Add references. Can you help me with this? How can I publish the page back? I am new to Wiki and learning the way here.

Regrettably, the participants in that discussion did not agree that the sources represented significant coverage of the subject in reliable, independent sources, except possibly the Economic Times one. What is needed is multiple high quality sources that each discuss Ms Singh in some depth - significant coverage. If such sources do not exist then it’s generally too soon for an article to exist. One option may be to wait - eventually, she may garner multiple, in-depth coverage. Alternatively, the information might be better published on some other website, LinkedIn.com was mentioned. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 21:12, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
P.S. You might consider creating the article at Everipedia or EverybodyWiki (which already has an article on Ms Singh). --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:26, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of Brian Maryott

Hi, wondering why the Brian Maryott page was deleted. Would like to restore it, and make any changes needed to ensure it's up to par. Thanks. WichitaLines (talk) 13:48, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello, WichitaLines.

The page was deleted as a result of this discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brian Maryott. As you will see, there was consensus that Brian Maryott does not warrant an article at this time. There were two main themes: (1) that he does not meet the inclusion criteria for a politician, that is, to have held or to have been elected to a international, national or statewide office or legislative body, nor (2) does he meet the inclusion criteria of the general notability guideline, that is, there is a lack of significant coverage about Mr Maryott in reliable sources that are independent of him. There was also a concern that the article was written in a promotional manner but that is something that can often be dealt with in the normal course of editing.

Going forward, if Mr Maryott wins the election in November, he will qualify for an article under (1), so we wait for the election result, or else better sourcing is found so to meet (2). --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 21:37, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

P.S. You might consider creating the article on another website, such as Everipedia or EverybodyWiki (which already has an article on Mr Maryott). --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:30, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

I think it was clear from the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Public Oversight (United States) that this was not suitable material for the encyclopedia as it stood but I have no objection to restoring it to draft space to give you time and space to improve the article. It should then be submitted for review via the articles for creation process before being moved back to article space. Does that work for you? --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 06:34, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Moz (marketing software)

Hello, I want to ask if you will consider backing out the closing of this AfD and relist? The article was a strong keep as (Yoast) in August 2919. Someone then gave the article a name change, and the original participants did not know that the article was up for deletion. - In the Yoast AfD even JW !voted to keep (first AfD). Keep - 100 employees, multiple reliable sources, notable product.--Jimbo Wales. I think a few editors are feeling like this was not all above board. Thanks. Lightburst (talk) 21:21, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

@Lightburst: I think there is some confusion here. The 'Moz (marketing software)' article started life as SEOmoz.org on 14 June 2012. It survived an AfD (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SEOmoz.org) started on 3 October 2012 and shortly after, on 28 October 2012, was renamed SEOmoz, losing the domain. It was renamed to its most recent title Moz (marketing software) on 28 May 2013 as the ‘company name changed’ and stayed there until the recent AfD. It has nothing to do with 'Yoast', which appears to be a different company based on a different continent. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:01, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, def possible, but where did Yoast go? Perhaps you can check why a strong keep is MIA? Lightburst (talk) 22:07, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of "Fawn (musician)"

Aug 5, 2020. Hello, Malcolmxl5. I've read through the discussion of this page, and it seems to me that the discussion occurred before I'd added some of the references. Is it possible to request a second, follow-up discussion to make sure they see the updated page? I admit that I am still learning about wiki editing, but I put many hours into documenting and making it a statement of facts, not a promo page. I get that many of the references are small magazines, but not all are. There are Billboard links in there now, for example. I modeled her page after other well-known artists. I've saved the code in my sandbox and would appreciate the chance to better understand why you deleted it and how I can fix it. Thanks! Syrinx. (forgot to sign in; this is me: Syrinx62)

Hello Syrinx62. I could reverse my closure and relist for further discussion but if I may give some friendly advice, I think you would be disappointed. The sourcing is poor: there is an over-reliance on interviews, YouTube, IMDb, Spotify and the like, and a lack of high quality and in-depth sources. However, all is not lost because there are other wikis that will accept articles such as these; I see the 'Fawn (musician)' page at the EverybodyWiki, and you may prefer to develop it further there. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 13:30, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Phone Bhoot

Hey! You closed the AfD for Phone Bhoot and deleted the page. It looks like before it was closed, a copy was made at Draft:Phone Bhoot. Would it be possible to Histmerge the edits of the deleted article to the draft? Thanks! BOVINEBOY2008 16:30, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi BOVINEBOY, all the edits of the deleted page are timed after 11:00, 21 July 2020 so follow the substantive edits to Draft:Phone Bhoot (the last of Tinka de taxi’s edits to the draft was 10:44, 21 July 2020‎). It looks as though the draft was copied to mainspace rather than the other way round. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 16:41, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! That's what I was curious about, but couldn't check the history of the deleted page. Thank you for following up! BOVINEBOY2008 16:43, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of David Holtzman article

Hello,

I am David H. Holtzman. I've had a Wikipedia page for many years; I didn't write it and didn't look at it that often. I noticed the other day that it was marked for deletion for various reasons. A friend of mine did an edit to bring it in line with Wikipedia specs. Then it became deleted. Would you please look at the revised article and let me know what I or someone else can do to make it a better fit? David71.191.65.130 (talk) 19:59, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello Mr Holtzman. The page had indeed been around for a long time. It was created on 7 November 2006 by someone calling themselves SunriseLLC who copied the text almost word for word from the ‘The Author’ section of the book Privacy Lost. It’s not a surprise then that the prose had a promotional tone though your friend did attempt to ameliorate that. Another problem was that the article was inadequately sourced, something that is especially important for a biography of a living person. A bigger problem still that had gone unnoticed was that the content posted in November 2006 was a violation of copyright that was still largely present in in the version of 31 July.
The way forward is, I think, to start again with two or three high quality sources that discuss your life and career in some depth and for someone independent of you to create a new article by summarising in their own words what those sources say. I would suggest this be done through the articles for creation process which provides assistance and review. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 13:15, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Isak Hansen-Aarøen

I added some reliable sources and made comment (Meets GNG, see the sources in the article. Same case as Luqman Hakim Shamsudin, Hannibal Mejbri & many others) but you completely ignored it and deleted the article without any analysis. What's the difference between Luqman Hakim Shamsudin and Hannibal Mejbri articles and Isak Hansen-Aarøen? They fail WP:NFOOTBALL but meet GNG. --Corwin of Amber (talk) 05:52, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Good afternoon, Corwin of Amber. My role was to assess the discussion for consensus. If you feel I interpreted the consensus incorrectly or made a procedural error, you can ask for a review of my close at Wikipedia:Deletion review. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 12:20, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Plants/World Geographical Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions

Hi, there was a protection template at Wikipedia:WikiProject Plants/World Geographical Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions because of persistent vandalism, which has continued, but the page isn't currently protected. Could you fix this again please? Peter coxhead (talk) 16:57, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

  Done --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 19:03, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
Hello Malcolmxl5, I wonder if you might also extend similar protection to Category:Flora of North America? It's been suffering the same kind of vandalism for the last month, though only to a single category link that the editor persistently changes from Caribbean to West Indies. I believe that all these edits are from a single vandal editor. The IP addresses may change, but are always Hialeah, Florida on Comcast Cable. Thanks, Declangi (talk) 00:01, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
  Done. I’ve also blocked 2601:583:4280:28e0::/64 for three months. There are other IPs and we can handle them when they pop up but the IPv6 address seems to be the worse offender. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:15, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! This editor seems to have an obsession with changing the names assigned to areas in the WGSRPD. Sigh... Peter coxhead (talk) 08:23, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of Sudhar (film director)

Hello,

The page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudhar_(film_director) has been deleted recently. When I went through the discussions, it says I have directed only one feature film and you are not able to find references for that. I did provide alot of references about my feature film. Anyways, I had created a Draft:Sudhar_S page now with IMDB references to myself as well as my feature film. Hence, I kindly request you to approve the draft page or restore the old page in which I will add these two references as well along with other references that were existing on that page already. Please do the needful.

IMDB is not considered a reliable aource because so much of it is user-generated. Writing about yourself is strongly discouraged. I see there is a much better page at EverybodyWiki[3], which is an alternative outlet where such things don’t matter. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:12, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Checking the draft of Jean Charles Zakaria

Hey i created a new draft for Jean Charles Zakaria I added some importsnt information also, is it possible to check it and if everything is good, can you publish it on his article page. Since it is locked for administrators only. Dont know the person that might be creating this article, Thank you in advance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Jean_charles_zakaria I think Jean Charles Zakaria should get the wikipedia page, since he is a well known Lebanese Fashion designer,and since his dresses were worn by famous people. Last but not least, his collab with Zaks Makeup (German Makeup Brand).

In my opinion, if this were put up for review in draft space in the normal way, it would not be accepted. In my opinion, if it was in article space, it would not survive. Have you considered developing a page at an alternative wiki such as EverybodyWiki, where a page already exists for Mr Zakaria? --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 20:18, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Yeah i have considered developing an everybodywiki but in my opinion the Wikipedia page will be more professional. And i insist that this person JC Zakaria should have a wikipedia article because he is a well known fashion designer who dressed plenty of celebrities. While i was looking and searching for some fashion designers, i went accross a wikipedia page [1] about a fashion designer, this page was empty and the information were not enough for a wikipedia page, but his page was approved. But know when creating this page wich is full of information it's not being approved. Can i please know what does this article needs to be approved. Thank you in advance. Please check the article about Mr. ZAKARIA (SOME CHANGES WERE MADE). The page i was talking about:

We are going to have to agree to disagree. I see no way forward for an article here for Mr. Zakaria and an argument that other stuff exist isn’t going to change that. The community has clearly said “no” but it would be welcomed at EverybodyWiki. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:51, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of Icetre (Musician)

Hello Malcolmx15! We would like to bring back this article and edit it with solid and reliable sources. Can you please help?. I read why the article was deleted and when it was first created it was in 2016. The discussions were accurate as the information was not quality so to speak.

Comparison: One of the comments made said this" Only references are from a record label/distribution company Empire Distribution, a bio link to MTV that is broken (and probably a duplicated bio from record label), and one remaining non-trivial reference. Subject in question does not seem to meet any of the 12 MUSICBIO criteria this page" Since then the artist has been featured in RESPECT Magazine, DJ Enuff's That's Enuff, and The Source Magazine (All of which are highly reputable sources and have their own respective Wikipedia's). Number one on the "Criteria for musicians and ensembles" list says "#1. Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.[note 1]" which none of self-published, all are reliable, and independent from the musician. There are more article links as well that are available those are just examples.

The next one says: "Delete per nomination, one of a billion remix artists with no significant coverage online from WP:RS. I was just about to nominate for speedy deletion as spam, but that can be fixed, unlike the problem of notability. His one claim to fame seems to be "...has also had opportunities to film concerts for Tyler The Creator, Kid Ink, and T-Pain while aslo having opened up for Bone Thugs N Harmony on their "E.1999" tour, IAMSU on his "Eyes On Me" tour, and Kirko Bangz on his "The Trillest" tour with Bun B, although he was not there to perform", which indicates he might have notability as a filmmaker, but I can find nothing online to support this claim, so I'm assuming he simply brought a camera along to shows, and hasn't released any of this." There is multiple misinterpretations to be cleared up. The artist (as stated above in the first comparison) is signed with record label / distribution company EMPIRE Distribution and since then the artist is now with EMPIRE Distribution and Universal Music Group as a songwriter and musician. The artist's personal record label, Blazington Music Group furthermore collects publishing under Universal Music Publishing Group as well. The artist's show performances were descriptive details but not necessarily needed. The artist has performed for rappers Kid Ink, T-pain, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, IAMSU, and Kirko Bangz at their shows which he was designated to perform. The artist's coverage online isn't insignificant. His music has been featured in Instagram Stories, AllMusic.com, Medium, and more. The artist has done work with famous and major artists. He has been featured on songs with artist's such as Mike Zombie whom is signed to Drake's record label OVO Sound. Mike Zombie also is responsible for Drake's platinum single, "Started From The Bottom". The artist has also done with work Vinny Chase, whom is a major label artist signed to Epic Records and has shot videos for Lil Wayne and Chris Brown. The artist recruited him for his album. The artist also worked with former Funk Volume Records artist Kato On The Track who has produced numerous charting singles for major musician's such as Hopsin, Jarren Benton, Rittz, Lil Scrappy, and Dizzy Wright.

The article was deleted in 2016. The discussions were not offensive due to the article's low quality content but now there is high quality material that can be implemented for the artist's article. We hope you can restore the article to a draft or however it's needed to be done. Please and thank you. Bunkytrap34 (talk) 19:21, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Well, that was a long time ago! Much can change in four years and I have no objection to moving the article to draft space where you will have time and space to work on it, to seek help and have it reviewed. If I may offer advice: two or three high-quality and in-depth sources about Mr Icetre's life and work will go a long way. If the worst comes to the worst, there are alternative wikis, such as EverybodyWiki, where articles can also be created. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 19:44, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Bunkytrap34: You can find the page at draft:IceTre. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 20:41, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Thank you very much Malcolm. 4 years was a spell ago indeed. I see the draft above. The time used to edit before review submission will be generous. The high quality and in-depth sources will be implemented before the submission process to establish notability. I will also be looking into EverybodyWiki. If there is anything that goes awry with the article then I can contact back. Thank you Malcolm. Bunkytrap34 (talk) 20:47, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

The article has been submitted for review. Thank you for bringing it back into a draft. Bunkytrap34 (talk) 17:06, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Re-instating an unintentionally lost semi-protection

Hi Malcolm, hope you are well.

Last year you semi-protected Marsha P. Johnson for two years. As we've seen since 2017, keeping the page semi'ed [at the least] has been necessary, as it's a perennial target for serious vandalism and unsourced additions.

In June, links from a Google Doodle led to massively increased traffic and a need for increased protection for several days. But when the increased protection level expired, the page was left completely unprotected. Disruption immediately resumed. El C semi'ed it again for a few months, but that expires in a few days.

As you are more familiar with the page history, I'm requesting that we reinstate the semi-protection - either to the original two years, or that we just go ahead and do the inevitable and go to semi-indef. I think it's time for the latter. Here's the log. Thanks! - CorbieVreccan 20:17, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, CorbieVreccan. A lengthy, two-year protection was an alternative to an indefinite period and it’s a pity it was lost. I have the page on my watchlist and I’m sure it’s on yours; if there’s any disruption after the current protection expires, ping me if I don’t get to it first. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 11:28, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me. Protection expires tonight, at 03:34, September 4, 2020. I'm expecting the inevitable. Best, - CorbieVreccan 16:55, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
It's only been two IPs since the protection expired, but the usual blanking and alteration of sources and sourced content has begun.[4][5][6]- CorbieVreccan 20:28, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
@CorbieVreccan: O.K. Watching closely. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 21:35, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of Wingify

Hi! Any particular reason for deleting the page for Wingify? We are an operational SaaS company out of India. We have recently gone remote. We have more than 280 employees. Not sure why our Wikipedia was deleted? I am part of the marketing team and look after SEO.

```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anubhav22051991 (talkcontribs) 06:09, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
The community determined that the company did not meet eligibility criteria for an article in Wikipedia. However, I see it has a page at EverybodyWiki, which is an alternative outlet where such things don’t matter. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 20:40, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
Let me know if there are any changes that should be made to the article, then I'll get those made. If others in the community feel that is self-glorifying or self-nominating, then I would make the appropriate changes. Anubhav22051991 (talk) 11:01, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
You should read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest before going any further. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:45, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
Jeffrey M. Cohen
Hello, is Jeffrey M. Cohen substantially different from the version you deleted in July following Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jeffrey M. Cohen? Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 17:19, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
@Captain Calm: Virtually no difference at all! --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 17:22, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
Andy L. Murray
Hello, you deleted Andrew L. Murray a month ago, following AFD. Is it substantially similar to Andy L. Murray, just created? Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 12:35, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
@Captain Calm: It is very similar. It obviously uses the same 'template' so to speak - the same format and the same layout - but the text has been expanded with additional citations. P.S. There’s some paid editing going on here. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 13:25, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. Is it close enough for a db-g4, or should the paid editing be looked into first? I wouldn't know how to deal with the latter, apart from ANI after a level 4 warning. Captain Calm (talk) 13:31, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
@Captain Calm: I think it’s close enough to warrant a db-g4 tag so go ahead. I’ll kick off the paid editing issue with a message on the user talk page and then take it to WP:COIN. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 13:46, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
KraneShares article deleted
Hello, you deleted an article titled KraneShares on September 20, 2020, I think the trivial coverage arguments in the deletion nomination were unfair, there were citations from the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg for example. Additionally, there are five other accepted Wikipedia articles referencing KraneShares, surely this should qualify the subject as notable? Chrionexfleckeri1350 (talk) 20:32, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Hello, this is the discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/KraneShares, yes? My role here was to assess the discussion for consensus. My reading of the discussion was that the participants were saying, in their different ways, that this company does not meet the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and that there was a consensus that this was so. Looking at it again, I do not see any other way of closing this discussion other than delete. If you believe I interpreted the consensus incorrectly, you can ask for a review of my closure at Wikipedia:Deletion review. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 17:56, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Understood, thank you. Chrionexfleckeri1350 (talk) 18:47, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
