Automated message to bot owners edit

As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:

Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.

Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 04:17, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bot impersonation? edit

Hello, I just blocked Malarz pl BOT (talk · contribs). I take it this was not you but an impersonator/vandal, right? I believe it was Wikinger (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) posing as a bot (something he has tried before). If I should have been mistaken and this was a legitimate bot operated by you, my apologies and please just let me know. Fut.Perf. 19:13, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Flag-map of the world edit

Yeah, I noticed that too, but I really have no idea what's causing it. Every country was done with the same method so I assumed it was a problem with Wikimedia's SVG renderer.

The faulty file on October 2010 was, you wouldn't believe it, my attempt to fix the problem. The old file had a few missing regions, especially the US. It wouldn't be good to revert to that file though, it's outdated.

So yeah, I've been a bit frustrated by this issue. I don't know what's the cause, and when I tried to fix it, it got worse. I might bring this up to the graphics improvement lab (or whatever it's called), but I'm not sure if their area of expertise covers this.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 16:53, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
