What's the origin of the sound file on the above-captioned article? Remembering you said you were musically inclined, I'm tempted to think you might have sung it...(that and the muted metronome in the background tells me it's isn't something I'll find in a store). There's no need to re-record. I notice it only because I've analyzed so many recordings, I actually pick up background sounds before I actually get to listen to the performer. (Long story as to why) I'd bet if you asked 10 people, all 10 wouldn't notice it. —ExplorerCDT 07:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Fjuckby

The present pronunciation sounds like "Fuke bee" but I figured it would sound like "Fuck by." The article received DYK status and any pronunciation is better than none (makes the article look more like the Stockholm article). I haven't heard 'Fjuckby' said by a native speaker. The article was on the list of potential DYK articles and not going to make DYK status since it was a stub. It seemed an interesting topic so I took some time to expand the article to meet DYK requirements. Sourced edits repeatedly removed without good reason

Hello, I've been editing for a short time and already I'm involved in what looks like becoming a continuing edit war with anonymous people who keep removing material of mine that is properly sourced - at first on the pretext that the subject of my material hadn't been shown to exist, which I have since refuted with independent evidence. See my last few posts on the National anarchism Talk page; since I wrote those it's happened again, only this time without even the pretence of an explanation. I may have overreacted when I called it vandalism, I'm not sure, but the edits are plainly irrational and the first ones were malicious since the edit summary justified them by assuming bad intentions on my part. I wonder if you can advise me on how to proceed if it keeps on recurring? Please reply on my user talk page. Thanks. Gnostrat 17:58, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Just a note to say that the material that was being vandalised (if I'm justified in using that term) has now been moved over to another article and hopefully this will resolve the problem. Hi Makemi. I just added a page for poet and librettist Ernest Hilbert, yesterday. Immediately afterward, a friend of his edited it to add a (humorously) untrue story about Ernie and Iris Murdoch. But shortly after that, you deleted the untrue story. I wanted to thank you for your vigilance, but also to ask you how you came upon it? Are you a friend of Ernie Hilbert's? Hmmm. I suppose there is that. That we aren't meant to have too much fun is basically what Wikipedia:Courtesy blanking is all about: it's back-up for those who come here, post vanity, and then make colossal asses of themselves at AfD - it's all right, dear, Jimbo'll blank it for you so it doesn't show up on Google. I remember getting cheesed off about that once when an AfD had been blanked: an AfD in which several wikieditors had put considerable time and effort into uncovering a pretty darn clever hoax. Anyway, someone mailed me a copy of this article, which contained the most outrageous vanity you'll ever see, before it got deleted, so that was O.K. I'll go and make up for it. My RfA

Thank you for your support in my recent RfA. I think valid criticisms were raised in areas that I need to work on, so I've withdrawn my name. I intend to work on addressing the concerns that were raised, and think I need to work contributing without allowing myself to become as stressed as I have been at times, which did result in some inappropriate behavior. Campaign songs

Thanks for being willing to help out with the campaign songs. I've been hoping to record these for a while, as it's a type of music that has a very direct connection to history. I'll probably get a chance to take the book out of the library again tomorrow. Some of my favorites as I recall were "Hunters of Kentucky" (glorification of Andrew Jackson at New Orleans), "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too" (a real classic) and "Lincoln and Liberty" (catchy, and directly linking him to as many states as possible). There are also some truly rank attack songs, which could be fun and interesting historically when people think such a thing is new. If you can pick up a copy, I suppose I can just point you to the appropriate sections. Hmmmm. Judging by the google cache, that article was one of the worst violations of WP:BLP I've ever seen: judging by the deletion log, someone had complained, and I can't say I'm surprised. If the page is to be rewritten it must comply with WP:BLP, WP:NPOV, and WP:N, in addition to WP:ATT and WP:RS. Moreschi basically has it. Without using the alphabet soup, articles about living people need to be written very carefully. They need to be written from a neutral point of view, and they need to be well sourced. This article was about a person who is on the line between sufficiently notable and not sufficiently notable for Wikipedia. Doing a cost-benefit analysis, I felt it would be better for the article to be deleted, at least for now. Mak (talk) 15:19, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Liz Shaw (New Zealand)

Hi, Makemi. I noticed that a few weeks back you deleted Liz Shaw (New Zealand) with the summary "WP:BLP OTRS Ticket#: 2007022510005922)" I understand that the contents of OTRS emails are confidential, and I'm not asking anything about the communication itself. But I was wondering whether the concern was a permanent one (about the existence of a page about this individual) or a temporary one (about the specific history and contents of that incarnation of the page). The reason I was wondering is because of the page Liz Shaw (Doctor Who). If Liz Shaw (New Zealand) is likely to remain deleted, there's no point in retaining the disambiguation at Liz Shaw (Doctor Who) — it would be appropriate to move the Doctor Who character to Liz Shaw (which was formerly a disambiguation page between the two). But if it's likely that Liz Shaw (New Zealand) may be recreated in the near future, Liz Shaw (Doctor Who) should stay where it is (and a handful of links currently pointing to Liz Shaw might need to be moved). Infobox for Hildegard

Hello. I'm sorry that you don't think that Hildegard of Bingen needs an infobox, but it was actually classified under "Saints articles needing an infobox", as WP:Saints articles without an infobox are wont to be. I personally disagree that a box for quick reference makes people "taxonomical like plants". Rather, I think that it greatly helps with locating reference information that would otherwise have to be gleaned from the article. I will not revert your edit until you respond, out of courtesy, but please consider that I have the bias of precedent on my side here. Articles belonging to WikiProjects that have an infobox should have infoboxes, regardless of a single editor's individual preference. You asserted on a previous occasion that infoboxes are "inappropriate for people," but this is simply not the case. Many, many other WPs have infoboxes for people. Thanks. Thank you for tidying up my page! I have another page on a lesser known female composer, Camilla de Rossi, if you are up for taking a look at that one too. 2 Questions for Makemi

Hi Makemi, Long time, no see, as they say. I haven't done anything on the women+opera project, but I have been busy teaching music and multimedia in France. For this I have 2 questions,and I am hoping you can help me.

First, it seems I cannot log in on the French version with my Engl. logon. Is this correct? Do I need to register again on the French version?

And second, I am working with some students to get some new articles onto Wiki. Wiki in France doesn't seem to work quite like the Engl. version; there seem to be far fewer moderators. Can you recommend a music moderator for me in France/French I could contact to ask some questions?

Howdy, why did you delete the entry Schmuckdomain? I spent some time writing a stub on "Schmuckdomain" including definition, See Also, categories and correct stub-template, and you've deleted it with the comment "nn-web". What does "nn-web" mean? Thanks for the reply, Makemi. However, I think that the stub I wrote is very useful. In fact, I was selling some of my domains on sedo.com (which is like an "ebay of domain sales"), and they have a "Schmuckdomain" category. Since I didn't know what it meant, I went on Wikipedia, but didn't find the article. A google search provided me with a lot of German articles, and since I happen to know German, I figure I write an English article on it for Wikipedia. I understand that an English Google search returned only one entry (which is incorrect, because here's another English one), but this is more-so the reason why we should add the English entry into Wikipedia, so that people can look it up, since Google doesn't help here. May I propose that we undelete the article (I would hate to rewrite it from scratch), but add an Articles for Deletion stub to it, so that other users can vote on it too? No, the edit before that was the stuff about him being the worst something or other, i removed that- That is the libellous information without sources, it is information which could damage a person's reputation which is not necessarily true- that is one, albeit of many, legal definition of libel. If i'm honest with you, it seemed a more productive alternative to getting into an edit war, and i don't particularly like removing stuff from wikipedia if it can be supported- the guy could have statistically been the worst coach- I'd presume that the guy writing the article didn't mean statistically, but this way it left the way open for someone to prove or disprove this. I know, i will easily concede that, but when you see a {{fact}} tag, what do you automatically think? I almost always think of it like an invitation for agreement- the edittor knows they have no source and knows it should probably be gone, yet the fact may stand and so it should be tagged so others can offer assent by placing a source, or dissent by removing it. Obviously the original edittor believed this deeply enough to keep adding it, but if i tag it someone else with more knowledge on the subject can give their opinion. I haven't been doing much with the Opera project lately, I'm sure Moreschi will fill you in on what's been happening. Luther Jackson Middle School

I don't see why this page was deleted. There was a previous argument about this page and other middle schools in Fairfax County, and the decision was to keep them all. I deleted the article because it was being vandalised really badly, with pretty terrible stuff about real people, it wasn't being reverted, and we had complaints and requests to remove the libel from the history. Since there is no indication that the same situation would not continue, and the article did not make a case for notability, I thought the better part of valor would be to delete. It's not technically in-process, so if you want you can ask another admin to undelete or take it to WP:DRV or whichever. I feel that I made the right decision, so I won't undelete it myself, but I won't be upset if someone else does (although if the problem persists I will probably take it to AfD). David Wills/Hassleberry dispute

Makemi, Thanks for getting back to me (and unblocking me). I'm relatively new to contributing to Wikipedia and the procedures around here are baffling to say the least. To answer your question...YES... this IS Davd Wills the voice actor. My ID and e-mail address is "ghostysshow" because, aside from my voice acting career, I also host a show on Sirius Satellite Radio on channel#32 Sirius Disorder and a Saturday night show on WFDU fm out of Teaneck, NJ under the on-air name of "Ghosty"...hence "Ghosty's Show"...get it? Here's what happened over the weekend. While trapped at the radio station as a result of the snowstorm, I began browsing around online. While I was aware of various forums and websites related to another TV show I work on, Viva Pinata, I decided to see if there was anything about Yu-Gi-Oh GX. Well, yes indeed there was, but on all of the aforementioned sites and forums I was not credited with playing Hassleberry. Now I'm not really one for self-promotion (especially true when GX is heading into season 3 and I've never bothered to look and see what's out there). Research into how and why this incorrect information has spread all over the internet led me to Wikipedia. I logged in and made the correct changes where applicable. Of course, my corrections were undone and the false information has once again reappeared. While not getting credit for the role of Hassleberry on Wikipedia will probably not be injurious to my career in the long run, I do take a certain amount of pride in my work and at the very least would appreciate having the correct information listed on both the Hassleberry and Yu-Gi-Oh GX pages. As a disc jockey, I've often used Wikipedia for show prep purposes but now after having been the subject of bad information, I'll refrain from taking Wikpedia's word as "gospel" (something I'm sure the other sites, forums and fan pages made the mistake of doing too).

I don't know what else you need from me (and is this OTRS?) but I hope I've made it clear who I am (although I'd hardly call myself "notable". LOL

The problem is that after an article has been deleted without a notice, there are no user-visible tracks left (except a well-hidden and non-obvious entry in the deletion logs). What does he do? Ok all that typing doesn't mean anything to me I did not copy anything word for word. However, I did use legitimate sources such as IMDB.COM for the biography that I changed in my own words. Ok can I ask another question please? Thanks, how do you all decide who is of "general interest" of an encyclopedia? Or is that just personal opinion I've read the guidelines and this person is in the entertainment industry so it's not some old hobo off the streets. Now, I may still be wrong(but, by "your" standards) but I don't feel that I am.

Just because someone is in the entertainment industry does not mean they are notable. The policy in question here is Wikipedia:Notability (people).
