Answers to questions edit

(top part copied from my talk)

Hey Shuninator I'd already add a reference that is a third party.

Can I ask you some question?

1st: My article GameClub has proposed for deletion because of it has no reference but i putted in already, how it will removed from deletion?

2nd: How can I make my article Special Force Online semi-protected so the article is not vandalized, last week many editors vandalized this and putted many hacking sites deleting important datas and replacing nonsense things like (Special force top 10 hackers, replacing the main logo with dxt gaming, replacing links with dxt gaming).?????

Hi Majestic
I hope Shubinator doesn't mind me commenting on this, I happened to notice your question when it flashed up when I was checking edits on Huggle. I can help you with the second question, I'm afraid I don't know enough about article deletion to help you with the first.
If any page is suffering vandalism, it can be reported at WP:RFPP. You can request that the article is semi-protected so that anonymous IPs can't edit it, or you can request that the article is fully locked so that nobody other than admins can edit it. From what I can remember from a discussion I had with an admin a few months ago, I think an article has to be vandalised at least 3 times within 24 hours before they will consider even semi-protecting it and it must be recently vandalised. So, for example, if your article was last vandalised on Thursday, it would be pointless in requesting protection today because of the time that has elapsed.
I hope this makes it a little clearer for you --5 albert square (talk) 08:56, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
You cannot stop the deletion process by removing the template from the article. This is seen as vandalism and you will be blocked fairly quickly if you keep removing the template. I'll restore it for you.
You can save the article from deletion by adding as many reliable, third-party references as you can find. Newspapers would probably be the easiest. Don't forget to use inline citations.
As 5 albert square said, you can request page protection at WP:RFPP, but your request will most likely be declined because there's not that much vandalism.
Also, an article does not "belong" to any editor. Wikipedians dislike editors referring to articles as "my articles".
Hope this helps, Shubinator (talk) 18:22, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

About Special Force wiki page edit

Hi, i'm the guy who first reverted the Special Force page, since the hacking community [namely, DXT] seems to want to vandalize it [i mean they literally replaced the logo]

I continue to suggest that a lock is requested, and that we request suspensions of those users who are vandalizing the wiki. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Cyb3rz3n and you will notice that he has freely noted that he is a "private hack coder"...

I obviously don't want the page to be deleted.

I'd just like to note that the page lacks citations, and sadly, i haven't really been able to find any. The page doesn't really meet WP guidelines =/ so we'll have to work on that. Sadly I haven't really had much time recently, so I guess you'll have to do [a huge] chunk of it. --Warthog518 (talk) 08:34, 3 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Gamesoft Technology edit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Gamesoft Technology requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Teancum (talk) 14:10, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 15:05, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Gamesoft Technology. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. Taelus (talk) 16:08, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Removal of tags edit

Please do not remove maintenance tags on articles until the issues are resolved, as you did here. Doing so is considered vandalism. --Teancum (talk) 19:05, 17 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Harvest-Moon.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Harvest-Moon.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MrKIA11 (talk) 01:08, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Electronic Ruler edit

A tag has been placed on Electronic Ruler, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. andy (talk) 13:24, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I declined the speedy, but have converted it to a proposed deletion instead.

AfD Nomination: Electronic Ruler edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that Electronic Ruler meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Electronic Ruler. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last seven days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. Syrthiss (talk) 15:46, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Smart Faucet edit

The article Smart Faucet has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable recent invention - fails WP:N

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. andy (talk) 13:50, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Special Force Online edit

A tag has been placed on Special Force Online, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Thank you.

To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Speedy deletion nomination of Aim Global edit

A tag has been placed on Aim Global requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Proposed deletion of World Of Metanoia edit

The article World Of Metanoia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced; no indication of notability in the article nor evidence for it that I could find.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  Glenfarclas  (talk) 20:38, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:YING YANG FISH.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading File:YING YANG FISH.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 23:46, 25 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175 edit

Dear Majestic27,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

deOrphaning script edit

Hello everyone! I was just working on responding to a couple bug reports for a script that I worked up as part of a request from this project, and I noticed that only a couple people (who weren't even on this mailing list) are actually using the script. A little history on the script: In March of 2014, Jim Cartar came to my user talk page and said he needed some help in acquiring a script for a backlog drive that he was working on that could keep track of and score deOrphanings for a scored backlog drive. I took that request to the project's talk page (BackLog Drive "DO" (De-Orphaning) script proposal) and there was near unanimous support for this. I thought about the proposal and decided the best way to do it was to build a new script (which is still no where near as comprehensive as Manishearth's OrphanTabs) and build into it a mechanism that will make BLD scoring easy.

What I'm wondering at this point is, since there appears to be only two people using the script, should I continue to develop this script with a goal of using it for scoring BLDs or just debug the existing script and leave it at that. Thanks for any replies or comments.
