NY Map

I see that you created "File:New York blank.svg", which was used to create "File:New York Adirondack.svg". I was wondering if you still made maps because it would be good to add the following to the "File:New York Adirondack.svg" map: Sacandaga River, Oswegatchie River, Beaver River (Black River tributary), Chadakoin River, Conewango River, Oneida River, Tonawanda Creek, Cattaraugus Creek, Chenango River, Black Lake (Oswegatchie River tributary), Indian River (Black Lake tributary), Unadilla River, Oaks Creek, Canadarago Lake, Otsego Lake, East Branch Delaware River, Schoharie Creek, West Canada Creek, Saranac River, Raquette River, St. Regis River, Stillwater Reservoir, Cranberry Lake, Great Sacandaga Lake and La Chute River and shading for the Catskill Mountains.

It seems like a long list but its all of the major rivers and waterways that have statewide historical and/or geological significance and would benifit hundreds of Wikipedia articles. If you dont still make maps, do you know where I could make this request? Thank you for your time, 420Traveler (talk) 05:00, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

No, I don't make maps anymore. My maps were never as high-quality as the ones Wikipedians have come to expect. —Mahāgaja · talk 06:03, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Any more updated sources for Agip?

Hi, thank you by the way for your contribution on Agip. I've noticed you mentioned that Agip still exists, hence your edit. If you have any link or reference from a notable source regarding updates/news about Agip, maybe you could show some? I have been looking but maybe I haven't searched hard enough. In the article I've noticed little to no updates about Agip to validate its existence. If you have any knowledge, feel free to let me know, if you have none then that's okay. Thank you. Apollogone (talk) 05:08, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

I don't know what would be considered reliable secondary sources for this sort of thing, but Agip's own website is still up and running and offering advice on how to become the operator of an Agip service station, which presumably wouldn't be the case if they had gone out of business. I live in Berlin and can personally confirm that there are Agip service stations in operation in this city; while the station finder shows a large number of service stations operating in France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy. —Mahāgaja · talk 06:52, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

Cyrillic Yiddish

Hi, I saw your comment from 2006 on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3AYiddish_orthography concerning the writing of Yiddish in the Cyrillic alphabet ("Personally I think Yiddish is far more suited to being written in Cyrillic than it is to being written in either the Hebrew or the Latin alphabet, but that's a purely linguistic opinion without political influence"), and this transliteration system is something I've been thinking about recently. Are you still active here and willing to start a project? I have a Discord account or you can email me. DancingGrumpyCattalk | (ze/zir or she/her) 18:38, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!

@CAPTAIN RAJU: Thanks! But actually it isn't my first edit anniversary. The first two edits in my contribution history are dated 4 January 2003 due to a computer glitch; they were actually made on 6 March 2005. My actual first edit was made on 28 December 2004. —Mahāgaja · talk 17:54, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Székely language

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Székely language requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. FAR for Irish phonology

I have nominated Irish phonology for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Z1720 (talk) 22:32, 27 November 2021 (UTC)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

New administrator activity requirement

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

BLP discretionary sanctions alert

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
