Okay. The dispute:

Dispute edit

I'll keep it short. User:Wknight94 "speedy deleted" my user page. Why? G11, which states that pages used simply for promotion may be nominated for speedy deletion. Mine was speedily deleted quite quickly. My page was about a Not-for-Profit Children's Theater in Chicago. I am a volunteer for said organization, and, while on the topic, receive absolutely no compensation in any way, shape or form, besides the occasional beer that an employee/company member buys me.

I figured that since all those employed and a large potion of those interested in the organization did not have access to creating Wikipedia pages (The organization is small, employee wise, and serves mainly low-income Elementary-school children in the Chicago area--not your usual Wiki users (maybe readers, but not editors)), that I may as well create the page. Seeing as I have been a long time reader but rare poster on Wikipedia, I decided to use my page as a sandbox and take it slow. That's where Wknight94 stepped in, deleting my entire user page without so much as a warning. As a noob, it took me a while to piece it together, but I have so far (not with any communication/helping hand from the WikiVeteran wknight94...).

So, I've removed all of the mentions of the organizations name JUST IN CASE it is believed to be a case of illicit conflict of interest and it is taken down again.

Here are some things laid out as Conflict of Interest scenarios:

"Adding material that appears to promote the interests or visibility of an article's author, its author's family members, employer, associates, or their business or personal interests, places the author in a conflict of interest."

It does not increase the visibility of me, my family, my employer, my associates or my business interests. I will not cite myself, increase chances of my own financial gains, there is almost no chance of a court case ever happening anywhere near this subject, and certainly none I'm involved in now, I was never going to mention myself or my life path or loves or anything remotely biographial, no one's putting me up to do this (I did approach a member of the board to tell them I was doing this so that they would have a chance to read it afterwards and do basic proof-checking. Note that the board is comprised entirely of uncompensated persons), and I'm not 'inside' the company by any means. Even with my current closeness, I'd exercise caution before publishing the article.

I am very interested in this subject, yes. I have volunteered for them, yes. I understand if when I publish the article it has too much personal conflict--I'd be happy to alter it/give up then. But I would like to have the ability to keep it on my user page, at the very least in slight gibberish so it can't be "discovered" by anyone.

And, in the end, it's a not-for-profit Children's Theater. I understand keeping Wikipedia Encyclopedic, but do you have to govern with such a harsh, heavy hand? Magisterequitum (talk) 06:53, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Can I at least have the article back so I can dispute it?

I think you left the above after I had already restored your article. See your other account's talk page. As I said there, it is confusing for you to have two accounts, since people will leave you messages at one account, while you read another. Wknight94 talk 12:26, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Magisterequitum edit

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on User:Magisterequitum, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of User:Magisterequitum and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Wknight94 talk 22:34, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
