Speedy deletion of Grace Marufu edit

A tag has been placed on Grace Marufu requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. AfD nomination of Grace Marufu edit

I have nominated Grace Marufu, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Grace Marufu. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Duplicate images uploaded edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Manyuchi Dam.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Clip image002 0001.jpg.jpg. The copy called Image:Clip image002 0001.jpg.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Image copyright problem with Image:Gweru.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Gweru.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 00:39, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Commercial Banks edit

A tag has been placed on Commercial Banks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Although everyone is welcome to edit Wikipedia, many of your recent edits to WikiProject Zimbabwe were not constructive and have been reverted as vandalism. If you do not stop this activity you may be blocked. Mangwanani (talk) 12:31, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do not be a dictator edit

I haven't logged into wiki in a long time. One of the messages, written by you Mangwanani, claimed that my contributions to pages on Zimbabwe are 'vandalism'. Please, which contributions were vandalism?

I find your message baffling. Ask yourself Mangwanani, who single handedly expanded the following pages: Kwekwe, Masvingo, Mwenezi, Chiredzi, Bikita, etc? Why would i waste my time vandalizing wikipedia?

Please Mangwanani, do not waste my time with stupid, unfounded, nonsense. Thank you.

Please edit

I advise that you take a read of the Manual of Style Guide before you make any more edits. Thank you Mangwanani (talk) 12:50, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey Mangwanani. It took me over fives hours to make those changes. You think what i was doing was vandalism?? I see. Good luck making the world know about Zimbabwe, i thought i couldn't help, but clearly you seem to be in good shape. Instead of deleting what i did, you could have edited it to make it what you want to look like. Where will i get another five hours?

WPZW edit

Hi there. The page you made an edit to is called Article requests - as in requests for articles which do not already exist. The majority of the articles you listed already exist and if they have connection to Zimbabwe they are present for the attention of editors interested in Zimbabwe by browsing through the Assessment categories where many of the Zimbabwe-related articles can be found under their assessment status. I am not saying you can't help at all. All I am saying is that before you make edits make sure you are familiar with the way things work and the style in which the rest of the articles/WikiProjects are laid out. It took me a very long time to create WikiPrject Zimbabwe and assess 777 articles manually and to get the format correct so I can appreciate that the list you created did take a long time to do, however, these articles were not articles that needed requesting - they already exist. I am very happy to hear that you are dedicated to making Zimbabwe a country that the world knows - so am I - we need more people like you around and I do look forward to working with you. Mangwanani (talk) 16:23, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

RE: Zimbabwe See Also edit

Wow, you are really going to think I am a grump moaning old thing, but all Wikipedia Articles have a see also section located at the bottom of the article. In the case of the Zimbabwe page it is in the form as below:

and thus the sections you have added to all the sub-headings that say see also are ultimately defunct. I hate to sound like a moany thing but this is where such items belong. Yours, Mangwanani (talk) 16:27, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pointers for you edit

As you requested, here are some pointers for you.

When creating a list as you did with the schools in Kwekwe please use format them so

  • one
  • two

the bullet point is created by typing * at the start of the line.

Sub headings are created with a double = not a single one. Try to cut down on sub-sub headings. These clutter up the contents box. Also do not create sub headings and leave blank content.

Double check spellings before saving. I am guilty of not doing so myself but it does help if you try to avoid any speeling mistakes. (geddit? speeling) sorry, bad joke.

Please, when editing, do your whole edit first then press save. If you wish to experiment please use the Sandbox before saving several times on the main space. Hope this helps

Mangwanani (talk) 16:40, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Additionally, please do not reference from within Wikipedia. Only external references are acceptable for use within articles. Mangwanani (talk) 16:42, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 16:46, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

PLEASE!!! edit

Sorry, this is frustrating me. When you create sub headings make sure you do it thus : == New heading == not =New Heading= . Its TWO = signs before the heading then a space, one capital letter, the heading, a space, then two more = signs. This is the standard use of subheadings. One = sign makes the sub heading too large.

If you aren't sure about the Wiki-mark up or how to format your articles please do read the Manual of Style. Long and boring it is but it does prevent me and other users sounding all moany and groany and reverting your edits. Thanks Mangwanani (talk) 17:25, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Me again edit

References go at the end of sentences or after punctuation. You keep typing spot. I think you mean spoRt. Keep an eye out for that. Also, The headings you call cultural events, could you call them cultre and recreation instead please? Many thanks Mangwanani (talk) 17:47, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Guess who edit

Yes me again. Please avoid making lists in articles. Lists are used as a last resort and if possible please put the lists into sentence form. EG:

Landmarks

  • Example one
  • Example two

should really be

Landmarks

Example one and example two are some of the many landmarks in area X. Example one is noted for XXXX.

References would also be good at this point.

Please only create sub-headings if things are actually written under them. There is no point having a sub-heading with no information to go with it. It is as pointless as a book with no pages or a pen with no ink. Only create sub-headings if you are actually going to write something at the point at which you create the sub-heading.

Once you get the hang of Wikipedia I'm sure you will understand why I need to keep saying all these pointers. I really am not a moany person so don't want to come across as that. Mangwanani (talk) 18:31, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

RE: Sub headings edit

Hi there. Your ideology on sub-headings is a good one, however, it does not work. If people are to add information they will do so. It is very hard to tempt people in to it by adding blank sub-headings. Also, it makes an article look very poor quality. If you look at many articles rated stub or start they have very few sub-headings and what they do have usually are very detailed. Please please only create sub-headings unless they have something in them. I like the idea but for the purposes of presentation please do not do it. Thank you Mangwanani (talk) 20:35, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

edits edit

Please refrain from the inappropriate use of {{flagicon}} by putting it next to a person/places name at the top of an infobox. Also, make sure that the categories you add to articles actually exist. Many of those which you have added to articles do not exist. Go to Category Zimbabwe and follow the lnks until you find an appropriate category to add your article to, rather than an appropriate one you thought of but however does not exist. Thank you Mangwanani (talk) 12:21, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: edit

I removed that information for Gono as it didn't seem to follow Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View guidelines. Sure, if you can make it sound more neutral and find sources for it then I have no problem with it. For districts do not use the Settlement infobox. A Zimbabwean disctricts infobox is currently being made for this purpose. I advise that if you want to make several edits and work on articles gradually do so here: User:Macvivo/Sandbox and when you have completed and are satisfied with the article copy it over to the desired page on the main space. This will prevent unsourced statements being deleted and blank sub-headings and you can take as long as you like working on an article and I can approve it first, if you would like, before moving it to the main space. Hope this helps... Mangwanani (talk) 16:30, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I now see the nomination you are referring to. This is quite tricky for me - I checked the article and all I saw was a one-sentence line. The article definitely lacks context, in my opinion, but I accept your point that you were going to add more information in the coming days. What I would suggest, to avoid things like this happening (with people like me checking suitability of articles) is that you construct a larger article with relevant context and notability in a sandbox (see Wikipedia:Sandbox) and then upload this into a new article. This will avoid misunderstandings!

I am sorry if this has discouraged you - this was not my intention by any means - I only wanted to help make Wikipedia better. Please do not feel discouraged, simply let this encourage you to write a fuller article in the meantime! Best wishes, Fritzpoll (talk) 18:15, 17 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Districts edit

Hi there. When sorting the Zimbabwe Disctricts etc. please make sure you don't get towns and villages confused up with districts, eg Binga and Bikita. Thanks Mangwanani (talk) 17:18, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I know it doesn't really make sense for a town to have its own article when it only has a few buildings, but after the elections when we all go home (wishful thinking!) maybe these towns will be a bit larger. But I do think that there should be a clear difference between a town and the district, for the district comprises much more than the town does. Even if the article only has one sentence at the moment that's fine. Just mark it with {{Zimbabwe-geo-stub}}. Mangwanani (talk) 17:44, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Zimbabwean ministers edit

I don't understand why you made all those edits claiming the Cabinet of Zimbabwe was out of office. You're right, I didn't see that. However, normally even if the Cabinet was dissolved we would expect the ministers to remain in office until the appointment of successors; the ministries aren't just vacant, with no one carrying out the work, are they? Little context in Category:MDC Leaders edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:MDC Leaders, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:MDC Leaders is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:MDC Leaders, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Unspecified source for File:Gideon Gono10.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Gideon Gono10.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:58, 10 May 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice?--Martin H. (talk) 22:58, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It seems like you had some serious problems with copyrights in the past. Can you, honestly, confirm, that this image is created by yourself, that you are the photographer and that you toke this image with you camera? If not please say so. Its not a good situation to have an contributor like you staying with a mixture of good contributions and a lot of unfree, copyright violating uploads. Please help to divide the bad from the good contributions. Regards, --Martin H. (talk) 23:02, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of National Mining Museum edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is National Mining Museum. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/National Mining Museum. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:12, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Template:Hippo Valley Estate edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mhiji (talk) 13:32, 30 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:06, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Call for Wikipedians in Residence in Africa edit

Hello,

I hope you are well and thriving!! WikiAfrica has just put out a call for two Wikipedians in Residence. One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabell doualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahf africacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.

If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Epworth Main Road.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Epworth Main Road.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. eh bien mon prince (talk) 14:38, 19 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Mwenezi-Beitbridge seal.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Mwenezi-Beitbridge seal.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 14:13, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
