Willie Frazer
The name Frazer is from the Scottish Clan Fraser, or Friseal in Gaelic. Gaelic is the language of, and has been spoken in, Ireland for thousands upon thousands of years and we are nearing the day that it will be the official language of the whole country. GaeilgeLeBhurDToil
- Personally I don't care whether it is official or not, means nothing as it won't save what is a part of our shared heritage that is sadly dying out even in the Gaeltacht areas of the Republic. However you stated the national language of the country. Ireland the island is not a country it is split between the UK and the Republic, and Willie Fraser is from the UK part.
- The actual origins of the Frazer name is uncertain with no definite answer available and to assume one is just wrong. Quite a few believe it to be actually of Norman origin like quite a few other Scottish clans (even the Bruce's are of paternal Norman descent) - not all Scottish clans are of Gaelic origin believe it or not.
- Also there is no evidence that Gaelic has been spoken for "thousands upon thousands of years" in Ireland or even anywhere especially considering as it is a Celtic language and the oldest form of that can only be traced to the 6th century BC in the Alpine region of continental Europe.
