I was watching the discussion at that article & I'm not surprised about what happened. My advise? let'em have it his way & just move on. GoodDay (talk) 10:13, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

I'm just pointing out the huge mockery WP:UKNATIONALS makes out of WP:MOSBIO, and how it does. May as well let people use Wikipedia to maintain their illusions dreams. Mabuska (talk) 10:35, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
When (also) sports bios are peppered with devolutionist PoV, it's a sad situation. GoodDay (talk) 10:44, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
It's Wikipedia. Mabuska (talk) 10:49, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Wikihounding

Hi Mabuska, I hope you don't mind my bothering you, but what would your advice be as to how best to deal with an editor that's hounding me and reverting my edits without explanation? I've never had to do anything like this before and can't really make head nor tail of RfC/mediation/arbitration, etc., etc. Best, JonChappleTalk 21:16, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Gather evidence of their actions and present it to the Administrator's Noticeboards of Incidents and see what any admins say on the matter. I myself recently had to caution an editor for wikihounding me. Mabuska (talk) 09:56, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll do that. JonChappleTalk 10:05, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Best evidence is when they revert your edits on articles that they have no prior history of editing on (just check the edit history of a article) as it shows that they are more than likely trawling through your edit contributions. Mabuska (talk) 10:40, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Already got a few of those. Let's see what happens. JonChappleTalk 10:44, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
May i ask who's doing the hounding? Mabuska (talk) 16:16, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Let's just say he's the reason (apart from my own stupidity) why I'm currently impotent when it comes to Troubles articles... JonChappleTalk 16:19, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
They are probably hoping to lure you into edit-warring on an article or something similar or trying to make you crack so you go off on one to which they can give you warnings and further make you look like a troublesome editor so they persist in enforcing their biased pov. Also don't forget no matter how much evidence you provide to the contrary, they are never biased or subject to POV - they are whiter than white and will always gang up to enforce things.
Where such editors lurk and hound you, always remain to be WP:CIVIL and keep as WP:NPOV an opinion as possible without making accusations. Then they'll have less ammunition to throw at you. Mabuska (talk) 16:37, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip, that's what I'm trying to do. That's definitely what the editor in question is up to – see his talk page history for what became of my attempt at civil discussion! JonChappleTalk 17:19, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Don't need to, seen it al before. You couldn't really make it up the lengths some editors go to. Mabuska (talk) 17:26, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Funny old place this, isn't it? The last stronghold of those unfortunately souls stuck in the 1970s (or should that be the 1770s?) :) JonChappleTalk 17:29, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Now, now there's still other countries in the world today where you can say there are strongholds so you can't really date these things ;-) Mabuska (talk) 17:45, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive newsletter

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their September 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy editing backlog. The drive will begin on September 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on September 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles in the backlog, as we want to copy edit as many of those as possible. Please consider copy editing an article that was tagged in 2010. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". See you at the drive! – Your drive coordinators: Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02, and SMasters.

Apologies, I didn't see your reply. I've replied here. It was simply a pedantic point about sources and OR's requirement for statements to be explicitly attributable. --RA (talk) 10:21, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
