Do you run/write this website?

edit

Greetings, I see at Sillajhuay that you have added some information from here. I wanted to know if you actually write the website, because normally we cannot simply copy-paste text from other websites into Wikipedia - unless you happen to have written the text you added to Wikipedia. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 21:07, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey Jo-Jo Eumerus. I do write that website, I have an ongoing research about the andes and this is why I'm publishing each wikipedia page so I can help somehow. I'm writing all info for each peak. not sure if its ok this way? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MAXIMOKAUSCH (talkcontribs) It is OK but I caution that in many cases it's not clear where the information comes from. And whether the source of that information is reliable. I'd also recommend some format changes, but proper formatting on Wikipedia is a bit of a leg pain ... I think I'll remedy that particular problem myself. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:10, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reply Jo-Jo! Took me about 8 years to gather the information for the 1178 highest peaks in the Andes. I'm now confident most information is reliable and I'm starting to update each already existing page, and create the ones which aren't there yet. I'm starting with the 6000 metre peaks, most are already created. Some don't have names, some have incorrect info, some don't have first ascent info, some of the names are wrong. Once I'm done with the 6000ers, I'll do the 5000ers. I'll create an index page.

I have to ask you if its ok to add the dedicated external link page in wikipedia as I made a system that updates pages in real time as we still receive updates for each peak. my page is updated constantly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MAXIMOKAUSCH (talkcontribs)

Probably not - most folks are going to be wary of links added by the owner of the website because that's how a lot of spamming happens. I have asked here about whether you can be cited as a source, though. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 18:43, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the reply (talk)! Please do ask, this is an example of a wikipedia article i'd like to improve:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quitaraju and this is some of the data I have on quitaraju http://www.andes-specialists.com/quitaraju-6036/ I've researched 1178 peaks like this one. Most of them don't even have pages created on wikipedia. I'd like to create a page for each one. The only reason I'm citing the URL page is because the information keeps changing i.e. latest public DEM is tandem-x, it might change. First ascent information might also change. GPS altitude info also... This is the only reason. Believe or not, some peaks just don't have names or altitudes (lack of DEMs, voids present, etc). So we're using the latest data, which changes constantly.— Preceding unsigned comment added by MAXIMOKAUSCH (talkcontribs)

Just for the record, on Wikipedia you are expected to sign your posts with a ~~~~. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 19:37, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wanted to follow up; I've been reformatting some of your edits like here because in many articles, the exact height isn't as important. Other references in the articles often have a different format so I change yours to match them per WP:CITEVAR. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 20:36, 14 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
