I do not understand why this page should be deleted. It is not saying that this band is better than anyone or anything else. It is knowledge that should be spread around. --M79 specialist 00:41, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

It still does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion. It states information about the band. Also, there are thousands of college bands that have wikis on wikipedia, what's so different about a high school band? It states information about the band. It does not assert the significance of the band. Some college bands are significant because they are held to a higher standard, and are considered some of the best bands in the world. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia, not an opinion forum. Encyclopedias aren't to distibute the assertion of the significance of information, it is simply to distribute information. When you said that High School Bands are a bunch of kids learning to play instruments, that was off the topic of speedy deletion of this page. Just because they are a group of kids still learning how to play instruments doesn't mean that this page should be deleted. You contradicted youself when you said that some college bands are significant because they are some of the best bands in the world, yet they are still a bunch of kids learning how to play instruments as well. Bands are significant as well, as they provide entertainment. what makes high school bands any less significant than professional bands? They also provide entertainment and are significant. - Why can't wikipedia have better standards for information. And, getting back to wikipedia not being an opinion forum, why are high school marching bands not significant. Our band is held to a higher standard because we have won many state and regional marching competitions. I do not see why Broken Arrow Marching Band, which is a local marching HIGH SCHOOL band gets an article when we are equal when it comes to awards, shows, and performances. This makes no sense. All types of bands are held to the standard of WP:MUSIC. This is the standard outlined by the consensus of the larger community of Wikipedians to prevent any random garage band from getting on Wikipedia. High School bands generally aren't able to fulfill these requirements, as the list of members isn't stable in any way, and in general the members lack experience. The Pride of Broken Arrow is an exception to the norm. The band has consistently been considered one of the best, if not the best high school band in the nation. The main thing of notability for that band is the fact that it has played for the president twice. That is why it is on Wikipedia. What has this band done? The Gold Pride Band has won the Pryor Marching Contest (in section 5A), which is the biggest marching competition in Oklahoma for the past 5 years, at least. We have also received best drum major numerous times (that is what we're known for), among many other awards pertaining to execution of marching, music, color guard, percussion section, and drum line. There are many other awards dating back to the 1950's that I would have to research. But, the list of awards that I could come up with would be as long, if not, longer than Broken Arrow's list. --M79 specialist 06:25, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

- It has to be clear from the article why the subject is notable enough for wikipedia. Charles Page High School Marching Band did not assert the notability of the marching band. It basically said that it existed, but didn't provide any further information. This is why I deleted the article. If you believe that the subject is notable enough, I suggest writing the article in your userspace first, and taking it to deletion review when you're satisfied that the article does assert notability. If you want, I can move Charles Page High School Marching Band to User:M79 specialist/Charles Page High School Marching Band, so you can work on it.
