Help me!

I am a novice editor and have attempted to add a photograph to an article. It was my understanding that I could do so as a beginner if I uploaded the photo to WikiMedia Commons, but my edit has not been permitted. Is there a way for me to add an image before gaining more editing experience? Thanks.

See WP:IMAGES and Help:Images. The short version, you usually upload to our sister site commons, making your image available to all language projects, and reference it here. Kleuske (talk) 21:23, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Thank you for providing that photo. The edit was "permitted", the issue was that you didn't provide the file extension (.jpg) when adding the image to the article. Fixed. Huon (talk) 21:24, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

Minor tag

Hi Lvaughn7, you've been using the "minor" tag on your Velodrome edits. Don't- it should only be used for very minor grammatical or technical fixes, not adding content. I can dig out a warning or a link to the guideline if you need, but it says the same thing in more formal language. tedder (talk) 00:18, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

Thank you for your recent articles, including Ray M. Petersime, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further.
